      I'm a member of a number of Facebook Sims groups, and the massive amount of support for inclusivity was overwhelming. A few transphobes & homophobes made nasty comments and got a flood of clapback. I think most of them left the groups. Buhbye. They won't be missed.

    • @jasperoforange
      @jasperoforange Před rokem +224

      Only issues with it for me is that the binder can't go under other clothing, the binder doesn't actually flatten chests, and that the pronouns have a lot of glitches, but I'm glad that they're at least making an effort!

    • @That_Woodchuck
      @That_Woodchuck Před rokem +192

      I absolutely love the representation, but my biggest issue with the binder is that they also included it in the “sleepwear” category. I’m worried that young (or newly out) trans people will see it and think it’s safe to sleep while binding. Love the inclusion but I really want the sims team to fix this so people don’t hurt themselves 😭

    As an AMAB detransitioner, I want to reaffirm Jammi's argument that adults seeking hrt are *well* aware of the effects of their medications. I was very clear w/ my doctor that I didn't want breast growth but wanted to try a low dose of estradiol & spironolactone, & he fully looked me in the eyes & said "If you stay on this medication for long enough, you *will* grow breasts." & it was w/ that full knowledge that I made my decision. & on top of that, he specifically gave me a prescription that I could stop at any time for any reason should hrt not be the proper path for me.
    That decision turned out to not be right for me, but it wasn't the fault of me being medically uninformed or of my doctor being flippant w/ my transition. I look at it like making a smart, informed risk, & still getting unlucky. Sometimes you do the math, realize you have < 5% of a negative outcome, & then still get that negative outcome. It wasn't the fault of the medication.
    Moreover, I actually wanted to do laser hair removal first, before HRT. My logic was that I knew I needed (& still need) laser hair removal to combat the primary source of my dysphoria. Except my insurance would only cover HRT & not laser hair removal, as the latter is considered "cosmetic". & if the system were *more* free & open, I may never have gotten to a position of beginning HRT in the first place.
    TLDR: Ppl seeking gender-affirming care are made *well* aware of the effects & risks of those medications, & the gender critical puppets saying otherwise are lying.

    As someone raised in the US in a particularly religious part of the country, I never even heard mention of specific hormones until I got out of school. Like our education was either very “This is what happens to you during puberty,” I.e. body odor, sweating, other general symptoms. Or it was like “The endocrine system is the part of the body that controls hormones.” In Anatomy and that was as deep as it got. It’s no wonder so many people in America don’t understand how anatomy works honestly.

Using other animals as examples brings on the "humans are special and separate from nature" argument, which is just absolutely baffling to a biologist like me. And it's doubly baffling when the same person insists that trans identities also "go against nature".

    I work on a food truck, and we park at a bar on the hipster side of town a couple days a week. As we're there about 24 hours in 2 day's time, we're all really familiar with the bar staff. Said bar has four bathrooms, all individual stalls, all behind their own door. The only way someone would see you in there is if you forgot to lock the door and someone walks in thinking the stall was vacant. Because of where the bar is located and their whole accepting vibe, they get a lot of traffic from trans people. So the bar owner had the idea to make every stall gender neutral, not only to help make some of their patrons feel more comfortable but also to help cut down on lines. They had up gender neutral signs for about a week, before the health department came by and said they couldn't do that. They were given no justification as to why it wasn't allowed. This is also in Tennessee, so I'm sure that clarifies things a bit. I hate that such a beautiful state is full of such ugly people. Just let people take a piss.

However there are a finite number of outcomes which means Sex is also not a spectrum within human biology. Additionally, many other organisms have a sex chromsonal combinations that lead to outcomes other than a binary male and female. Mammals sometimes experience combinations that lead to noreproductive adults, insects often times have multiple forms of male and females depending on their life cycles. Other organisms are hermaphroditic but express a more male or female phenotype. Other species their sex isnt chromosally dependent at all, it's based on environmental factors. Sometimes it's can be density dependent within that environment and they will shift back and fortg between male.and female based on the sex ratio. In anycase you're simply wrong and anyone with a basic grasp of biology should know that when you get too a chromosonal level the male female description of species breaks down. It breaks as a concept as you move out into fungi and plants as well. The point however remains, that a binary biological understanding of sex doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

And he looked at me like I was crazy for a good minute before it dawned on him that I had lady bits, not man bits. Dude had known me for, like, 5+ years pre-transition, and 6 months in had already forgotten I wasn't amab. I think Pride Counselling is a subsidiary of BetterHelp and is most likely harvesting customer data so I would warn everyone to avoid that service.

    People who argue against gender neutral toilets: Do you have sex-separated bathrooms in your house.

      No but I also don't share that bathroom with strangers 😳 or with anyone else but myself.
      Stupid argument.

      There's always the disheveled phase when growing out hair from really short. I have multiple "cow licks" so it's uh, always interesting to see what my hair does when I grow it out lol.

    I recently went to a public bathroom and a tourist asked me wich ones were for males and for females (there was writing in my native language on the doors). It felt so good to say 'both' cause the writing was just about the decor in each toilet😂 i love gender neutral bathrooms

    Thanks for an amazing video Jamie! You actually over the years have taught me more about trans people than I used to know. And also inspired me to actually go look into things more deeply myself. I just wanted to share that yes, I used to be transphobic due to ignorance, but ended up reading all of the studies you list during some of your videos and they helped me realise my views were wrong. I've been spending the last year advocating for trans rights in my Church in Australia, and although it's a slow progress, the Church now will at least use people's correct names and pronouns when asked, even though they don't believe in the reality of someone having the wrong assigned gender at birth. It was also in the comment section of one of your own videos that I came to realise I was genderfuild, and that has been a huge relief.
    So thank you so much Jamie for doing what you're doing!
