17:04 no we definitely don't own pain. Everyone experiences this! But I do think men and women perceive and process pain differently. And women have more experience expressing our pain. Around age 6-7, girls start experiencing very deep negative emotions that lead them to develop a little faster mentally throughout puberty, while boys don't experience a lot of depth until later in their development. (Conversely, boys tend to pick up mechanical skills earlier/faster, etc).
Scientists and social psychologists theorize that girls experience negative emotions early in order to become vigilant mothers. This makes sense, right?? In nature, a vigilant mom will be scared to leave her child by a river in case there are predators, etc...
So at the end of the day, women don't own emotions, but we generally have more practice sitting in them, working through them, etc. I actually think it would serve men well to nurture their emotional regulation skills because at the moment the number one killer of men in America is themselves through suicide.

I’m 46, happily divorced….I was conversing with a guy, nothing serious. On day he sent me $25 for lunch. Here's my story on the $30 lunch thing. I remember working 30 minutes away from my house and my friend and I were just making it. If a guy sent one of us lunch money, we would split a lunch special and use the rest for gas. And we were always grateful and appreciative.
