I only heard about intersex people this year and I’m 62. I feel compassion for them, the little bit I understand about it. I find it challenging being a human at all and then to have such a fundamental difference in an already tough world must take a lot of strength to deal with life.
My daughter has this. She does not consider herself intersex. I'm not actually sure why they are pushing it as such? Niether is she. She has studied her disorder for years on a scientific level. She is acually in school as a science major now. Scientifically it is not. I hope they did this movie in a tasteful way. By the looks of the trailer they may not have. I truly hope I'm wrong about that. It is a challenging disorder and hard to watch your child deal with this. But it's also something that perverts are drawn to once they find out people have it. So how they did this film matters in our eyes. I just pray it's a good representation of it, instead of politicized. Thank you for your kind words about the disorder and for being someone with a heart that is trying to understand it with compassion!!
@@laughsalot6847I think it is not necessarily about labeling people with MRKH as intersex, but about relating to the experience of intersex people, being outside the box of man or woman and how society expects them and their bodies to be. The main character is a woman and identifies as such, and this is fine and her own identity, but because of bodily differences she has had since birth, she cannot experience a range of things that the world expects to be easy and simple, and seems to struggle in isolation, if not for people with similar experiences. Since MRKH syndrome seems rare, support must be hard to come by, and besides I think she must be able to find a lot to sympathize with, even if they are not technically the same. I think portraying this relationship is a great idea because it bridges the gap for people who police gender, in addition to informing people about atypical gender experiences. The main character is unquestionably a woman, even if she is missing some pieces society deems "normal" and has a nontraditional relationship with her body, so relating this to the intersex experience would hopefully open some eyes and just let people live the way that makes them feel fulfilled and as themselves and pursue what they want. I myself was not really aware of MRKH syndrome until now, but I can imagine the difficulty of the experience, the confusion that it may cause, and the questions it raises about one's own identity, what they want, and where they want to fit in. The movie seems to be focused on the social experience of it all, as well as the personal, and about finding acceptance especially from those who are able to listen and understand. Positive vibes!
