Burgess Folding Shotgun

  • Andrew Burgess was an extremely prolific gun designer who gets very little recognition today. One of has particularly interesting weapons was a pump-action, folding shotgun. Because Spencer already had a patent on the use of the forearm as the pump, Burgess designed his gun to use a sliding sleeve on the wrist of the stock as the pump handle. The guns were well made, and the company Burgess set up to manufacture them was bought out and shut down by Winchester to reduce competition with their 1893/1897 pump action shotgun. As a result not many were made, and very very few of the folding models. This one is in fantastic shape, and also comes with an excellent leather belt holster made for carrying it folded.

Handguns are just straight up banned for civiliand here. There are a *tiny* number of obsolete calibre revolvers and the like kept at gun clubs, but that's it. Maybe that's where the story came from, but the only 'pistols' we can have legally are in .22rf with incredibly long barrels and permanently attached stocks; you need to jump through a lot of hoops and prove to the police that you're a long standing member of a sport shooting club just to get the certificate to own one of those and they cost far more than a normal handgun would in America.

When it comes to guns, missles, bombs, any conventional form of firepower; we already are at the peak of technology in that field. Why do we need to continue to innovate when there is zero purpose in doing it? Back in those early days you mentioned, gun technology was so fresh and new; EVERYONE could experiment in any single way possible and come out with a new product. Nowadays, not so much.

Like a more modern version with a single point sling looped through a sling ring on the side of the gun, like a cavalry ring and bar, so it's attached to your body even if you take a tumble. Maybe a rail for dot and such. Action the same of course because that's kinda the whole point here. I'm not gonna lie, I might consider it for winter carry.
