Welcome to A Day in Chinatown! This is a new series, making the best out of this crazy year! Every episode will give you an idea of how to spend a day in Manhattan's foodie heaven. Chinatown restaurants we visited today include:
-A local Chinatown bakery! Not much about it online but it's a small shop packed with Asian bakery goods like egg tarts, sesame rolls, hot dog buns, and more!
-Kopitiam, a fast-casual spot home to Nyonya cuisine. You can get Malaysian breakfast like kaya toast and classics like Nasi Lemak.
-Bambu serves Vietnamese desserts Che! Ingredients made fresh every day.
-Singapore Malaysian Beef Jerky with chewy Malaysian-style beef, pork & chicken jerky in different spice levels. They are SO addicting!

I live in the metro area of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and we have a Bambu here. Let me tell you, I had to restrict my Bambu purchasing to once a week, because I got addicted...QUICK!! I love that you're showcasing many of the shops and restaurants in and around Chinatown. Sadly, during this pandemic, way too many Asians were unfairly targeted and felt the heat, not just in NYC, but all over the world. I can't wait until we freely travel again, because EVERYTIME I go to Chicago, I think I spend it 90% in Chinatown! I'm just a pastie white girl from a small town in Michigan, but I absolutely love sharing Asian food and culture to my friends. I'm always having them try SOMETHING or sharing some other kind of knowledge or YT videos. Much love TJ!! 💜

I grew up on all these treats. From egg tarts to the hotdog bun. My mother on every Saturday would go to Chinatown bakery and get different treats. Oh the memories.
I am loving this new series! And I love all the different countries you represented. I would go to allllll of those places and dig in. Can't wait to see more! We actually ordered in for Christmas and got a few Asian dishes from Singapore, Hong Kong, and China! Sooooo good!
