I like the aesthetics of them being in a rainbow so I do this to all the guitars that I open up. I literally can't remember a time I had to look at the keys though because I started playing this game when I was like 7.
it’s cause you trained yourself to always use the same fingers for the same buttons try playing a medium or easy song in that grip it might help break your muscle memory
the fact that people in the comments were so worried about the color of the buttons, implying they have to look at the buttons to figure out what color note to hit. brings a smile to my face
I'm surprised he didn't whip out the real forbidden technique. Bending your pinky out further so you can hit green AND orange. Advanced users only, though. Improper form could result in your pinky popping out of its socket and sliding down the side of your hand.
It's been years since I last played a Guitar Hero or Rock Band and I'm now beating myself up for never trying playing like this. Might need to figure out how to hook up one of the plastic guitars in my basement and try out Clone Hero.
@@Furrett - I only owned GH3 and World Tour on Wii, though I imagine the GH3 guitar was likely donated to Goodwill as the only one of those game boxes we held onto was World Tour and the last I recall, everything from that set made it back into its original packaging save for the mic, which I used to make videos between 2011 and 2014 and promptly lost after I got a Blue Snowball to replace it.
@@E3kHatena well just in case you *don't* know, wii guitars are considered the best although you need a specific adapter for them. hopefully if you're interested in the game you can get them working!
i looks impossible but i learned it in a few hours, got 60% but i could hit it confidently enough to keep going, now i can( mostly, not stuff like ttfaf or fury of the storm) play on expert. learned hard about 2 months ago.
I started playing Guitar Hero back when the first one came out on PS2 and have played on Expert most of the time. It wasnt until extremely recently that i noticed that a lot of people who play expert will position their hand like this on the buttons. I still start with my index on green but will shift my hand down once there is an orange note but keep my hand there until there is a green note and then move my hand back to its original position
I know this is a meme but way back in the day in the GH2 days when I first started on the hard difficulty, I know I had so much trouble for a long time because I would stretch to the orange rather than shift. Now all these years later I'm a master of the shift, but need to work on stretching to hit these super wide chords and sweeps and such. I've come full circle.
I struggled at first too, but eventually I was able to shift smoothly with relative ease. The real problem is with GO chords, which you unfortunately have to stretch in order to hit, and don't get me started on GRO, GYO and GBO chords.
If your playing gh3, I've found "In Love" (in the bonus songs) to be a great practice song for new hard players, it's the first hard song I was able to complete and helped me move away from medium
I remember replaying the intro to Sweet Child O' Mine on GH2 over and over until I gotten use to shifting my hand up and down the neck. Then I went on to FC Slow Ride on Expert.
Okay, real note though, I started getting into Clone/Guitar Hero in like August of 2022 and it took me like five months to finally work up the courage to try some songs with orange notes. Slow stuff, but still hard at the time. Now I’d say I’m a bit better at shifting, but I press down so hard that if a really quick passage comes up, I go to slide my hand back and forth and it just catches on the guitar 💀 About the hardest thing I can play kinda well that consistently throws shifts at you is like… Locked Out Of Heaven and Little Dark Age. And I don’t even think those are necessarily hard, I just suck at reading the shifts and stuff. Big sad. But one day I’ll get there lol
OMG, I figured this out on my own back in 2006, but legit had no idea that's how even some of the best players at this game in the world do it, too...NICE!
I usually keep my hand in 1st position (index on green) until i need to hit and orange where i move to 2nd (index on red), then back to 1st when I need to hit a green, lately I've been getting better floating between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position (index on yellow) depending on the situation though. My muscle memory wont allow me to stretch my index finger while in position 2 though lmao if i'm in position 2 or 3 and i need to hit a green I *have* to move my hand
I can’t believe I never thought about this, I always played holding green, red, yellow, blue and would slide my pinky down to orange but it’s harder that way.
I mean my first experience with the controller was with gh arcade not long ago and even then I managed to learn a bit of the basics. Even got 406/407 notes hit for avenged sevenfold on beginner
A.) This is EXACTLY how I described the GR-O position shifting to my girlfriend since GH is all I do anymore.... B.) She only guilt-plays with me and couldn't give a shit less about getting better. hahahah
Some songs unfortunately have GO chords in them on Hard and Expert, so the only way to hit those is to stretch. Even worse is GRO, GYO and GBO chords, but those are mostly Expert only.
I just stretch my hand out and use my picky for both then after i got comfortable with that then i began sliding my hand back and forth since the stretch would limit speed
Pretty sure when people are asking how to play the orange note, they’re asking how to get good at shifting their fingers. I tried searching for any answers to help me ease in to it, but couldn’t find anything… so I just had to put myself through torture and do hard difficulty on GH3, over and over again until I got *decent* at it.
I played w only 3 fingers and I was top 100 in the world when GH2 was on Xbox 360. I could still do GYO and GBO chords w the 3 fingers. Occasionally I would bring the pinkie into play if I couldn't be the shift and stretch master at a certain part of the song. Things change, there are 100s if not 1000s of people better than me now, but I can grease them fingers up and go for the 2 finger challenge as well, try that sometime!
Wouldn't I have to make new temporary muscle memory for the other 3 buttons that will only be used sporadically? I don't play much GH, and I don't plan to, but it seems like it's something that people have trouble with because it's NOT as simple as just moving your fingers over? Just wondering.
So, ive recently gotten back into guitar hero. I've been playing with my index on the green for years. When i try and default to my index being on the red, i miss everything. Do you think its worth it for me to completely restart from the beginning and learn to play properly?
I can only use Index, middle and ring finger when playing and have literally no issues playing any song on expert. But man do some of the custom charts really make me suffer.
But what if green, red and orange come yp all at the same time and I have too small hands? Shifting up n down the fretboard takes too much time, and I can't hit shit?
