8 days per week. Davie is a true pro bassist.
?
Beatles reference???
Beatles
40 hours a day, 8 days a week 40/8
There's 7 days in a week
For context, the "69" is the number set for the difficulty, which usually ranges from 0 - 6 for charts meant to be taken seriously. Notes that are transparent are tap notes, you can strum them if you need to but you can also just use the frets. Notes that have a glowing top are hopos, or hammer-ons and pull-offs, which allow you to jump to the note without strumming it if the note before it was hit successfully. Some charts have hopo notes chained together, which can be played without the strum bar, but be warned, if you miss a note while doing it, you'll have to strum another note to continue to use them that way. The purple bars are notes that have no fret and are purely the strum bar. One thing to also do is also adjust your note speed settings (I personally choose 12 myself), adjust your calibration, and even turn on "no fail" if you want to use it. Frankly, the challenge of potential failure excites me, so I always have failing enabled. Honestly though, you did pretty well all things considered, you took to the game relatively quickly.
Purple bars were initally made for bass
@@staringcorgi6475 ah that makes sense. I think the first time I ever saw 'em in use was for GH Metallica on the PS2. Not sure if there were others before it that did something like that
Long explanation, too lazy to read it 🗿
You explained things quite well!
This is pretty much the most emotion I've ever seen Davie display, and it's pretty hilarious.
You should totally check out his playing super mario with bass video, he showed so much emotion there and it's even more hilarious than this one lmao
I thought the same thing. Him getting pissed at the game I mean lol.
very emotional times...
That quiet rage 💀
Massive shoutout to Davie's parents for being so supportive and allowing him to become the legend he is today 😁 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I love the brief moment of confusion at 3:11. You can practically _hear_ him thinking "why is _that_ the only part I played flawlessly?"
Take note that Davie says "again" after he fails a song. That moment is how you learn to do anything you want to do in life.
The brain is a wonderful thing. No limit but our own will.
@clark987878
I mean, no
This gives off the illusion that playing the game is harder than learning the actual instrument

Lmao i love how after Davie struggled to get to Bassline B, he had to play it on a real bass to prove to his self he can play it

Yeah, charters just need to just not put the wrong notes in to make it easier.
As someone who watches a lot of Clone Hero gameplay, you actually did really well on these songs. Props to you and your bass for killing this video!
Hmmmm...
Big fan of Davie but I wouldn't go as far as say that XD
Slightly disappointed he didn't straight up (near) fc them, he used to play GH back in the day and now he's a pro among pros with bass skills.
But I'll give him this: He's only upstrumming so that makes it a lot harder.
@@munkeykung8971 first timing GH after that long of time is super difficult. And it’s much different from playing an actual bass, and his instincts are used to playing these exact songs entirely differently. What he did was still impressive all things considered.
@@Xeractyll Can still be disappointed.
I've played GH on and off for long periods of time with some breaks having been long periods of time over the past 12 years, up until 4 - 5 years ago, pretty much played it nonstop everyday since then and the past months every week.
I'd like to think I know a thing or 2 about the games from 1st hand experience, rather than just having watched it hehe.
I can tell you that playing GH/CH is like riding a bike once it's in your muscle memory.
Yes after a long break of a year or longer coming back you are a bit rusty and to get back where u were skillwise can take a month to half a year depending on how much you play, but never in a way that you absolutely can't play, maybe a few slip ups.
In fact, after breaks you sometimes are even better at things that u used to be worse at, like for me suddenly with fast strum at one time, just haven't figured out how that works precisely yet...
Once u learned how to read GH/CH notes you don't unlearn that either.
On top of that he's even great at actual music, he knows much more complicated things with his hands and he's very familiar with keeping rhythms.
Don't get me wrong though, in no way am I saying he's terrible for playing like this, just I expected more when I clicked the video, knowing his background, so I was a bit disappointed is all.
Your kindness has been received well tho, I see you have a heart from Davie, nice ^-^
@@munkeykung8971 "But I'll give him this: He's only upstrumming so that makes it a lot harder."
Well, that, and he isn't holding the controller correctly.
@@derpymcderpster5526 I was actually thinking about how cool it is he was holding it so vertically; I can't hold the controller normally with good results. I wear the strap really weird and the guitar has an extreme tilt, and it works much better for me.
and yeah, not alternate strumming is so hard. Although, before you've trained yourself, alternate strumming is also hard, lol
Never thought I would be able to see Davie this stressed and frustrated lol but he did great!
You clearly didn't watch him playing Super Mario Bros with a bass then
yeah, I guess that's part of the appeal. Kinda funny/unusual to see him suck at something. It's subtly satisfying
Muscle memory kicked in @5:46. He actually tried to add vibrato 🤣
Nice content, Dave 🤘
That's a very good catch!
0:17 best part of the video you did amazing 😤👍
Legend has it that this is the first time Davie has ever displayed his emotions. Glad I subscribed to witness this.
EMOTIONS REVEAL
You obviously didn't watch when he tried to play Mario with his bass then
This has to be the most emotion we’ve ever gotten out of him
No bro. He has used a lot more in playing Mario with bass
This is the first time he has not censored his swearing 🙃
thank you for inspiring me to start playing bass! i have alot of fun when im messing around with it or just trying to learn a new song 100/10 instrument
Davie504 is one of the main reasons I bought a bass.
I have been watching his videos and playing along for a while and I think I might be getting slightly better.
After I buy some strings for it and an amp I will know for sure.
I think you did really well honestly, don’t think most people would be able to just jump into expert-level tracks like this after not playing the game for 11 years haha.

I miss Guitar Hero/Rock Band! Such a good moment in video game history, though I didn’t really care for the black and white Guitar Hero! I wanna see those fast-moving skittles!
2 things:
1. you can turn no fail mode on :)
2. i thought Davie was playing clone hero left handed without lefty flip on because thats how ive played guitar hero since 2005!
guitar hero was my fav childhood video game of all time and i still play it to this day. thanks for making me laugh Davie
I love how since Davie is a real bass player he only upstrums! It’s actually interesting to see how his bass and music reading coordination translate into a video game
I was definitely waiting for this comment!
Ikr!
There's actually a really famous GH/CH player named Gamo who does the same thing but at a high level. Check him out if you have the chance, it's a crazy sight to behold
This had me laughing all the way through. I'd been playing for well over 20 years when Guitar Hero came out, and thought it would be a breeze.....what an infuriatingly humbling experience! So I absolutely felt your frustration!
I had already started guitar when I tried it too. It would aggrieve me when I'd try playing the right amount of notes for the song, and not every note was charted.
@@srs2388 Worse when it charts notes that aren't even played. Sometimes you can understand why, since you only have one 'string' instead of at least four, but sometimes the note choice is just baffling.
@@KindredBrujah Got to look at it from a gamer perspective and not a musician. Musician doesn't understand why notes are charted when note isn't being played. Gamer perspective understands you need to keep the player engaged and tickle the part of the brain where you get that endorphin high by providing them a challenge that they can overcome, so if music is going, they are a part of that music, even if not from their instrument.
@@KindredBrujah The worst game for that was the Green Day Rock Band game. Most Green Day songs are pretty easy in real life. You just need to hold a few chords and strum in a certain pattern, but I guess they figured that would be too dull to play over the course of an entire game.
So pretty much every song had all these extra bits and non-existent fills and chord transitions to try and make it 'more interesting' and harder, but it just made it really frustrating for me. I could play all of the songs on a real guitar and all those extra fiddly bits were completely unnecessary and made it feel like I wasn't even playing the song!
@@KindredBrujah I agree. It's way harder on a seasoned guitarist.
GUITAR+BASS= VIOLIN+DRUMS= *NEW POGGERS*
Some of the toughest solos from the games aren't that hard to play on guitar b/c of the techniques used, which when mapped become incredibly difficult b/c of the precision and timing required.
The skills do translate some, and some charts feel right on for the song, but the skills you're being tested on are very different between the game and irl.
3:18 "This is harder than I thought"
*That's what she said*
The intensity and frustration Davie experienced playing this game brought me back to some old childhood memories man
You did fantastic! Especially for the first time you did this!
Man, you're amazing!!!
Greetings from Brazil!
It’s curious how you can see Davi hands going even further down in the bass control unconsciously, not because he is bad, but because his fingers have the muscle memory of the actual notes of the song he is playing
He should try playing the bass in real life, bet he'll be famous.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

nah, he sounds italian. he'd probably use spaghetti for strings. noob

Can we just appreciate how badass 24 strings bass solo sounds? Even tho i already heard it 69 times, still so groovy and cool
Try playing that on Guitar Hero or Rock Band and it let you hit most notes on your correct difficulty if you memorize that track.
I have never played guitar hero ,but, I think that watching you was good enough!! Well done!!
6:51 He actually smiled!
Fun fact: he actually is failing not because he is bad, but because he doesn't wanna play the full song so we go and watch his videos and he can get more views and in return get more money

For someone who played the game after 11 years is highly impressive. And on top of that went from the game to the actual instrument all the props in the world bro.
Real frustration reveal at 5:56
Well, you added 300k subs in the last 2 months! That's something to be happy about!
You've taken your base playing to the next level with guitar hero.
Keep trying and you will be as good as the kid down the street in no time.
If you plan on playing this in the future, there's a special kind of controller that has a split strum bar so you can play with two fingers like a bass. They were made specifically for rock band, and some people don't really love them, but worth looking into!
I had one and loved it for bass parts. made you feel like a bad ass lol
4:40 "It should be easy."
PD: I'm gonna look for these songs, it will be EPIC!
You pluck up on the bass controller like a true bassist. Very good.
Oh My Davie! The editing of this was unbelievable!!!
I wonder if this is going to lead to someone re-doing Davie's song for more accurate notes? I mean, if I were the guy who did that and Davie was saying I fucked up, I'd be re-doing it.
There isnt a lot you can do in Guitar Hero/Clone Hero as you have: An Open strum note, Green, red, yellow, blue, orange, Hammer on and pull off's (HoPo's for short) and the just tap notes these are some of the higher quality charts from what im seeing youll notice with a lot of charts made by ppl who made the song that they tend to have to "emulate" moving up or down the fretboard a ton cause there's just not as many notes for yah, some good examples are Exilelords songs or Jarvis9999 songs which are made and charted by them.
@@JokingbombYTyou really only need 5.
Though it is often done, you don't actually need to scale the fretboard a lot, as, even on a 4 string bass, 5 fingers let's you play a 2 octave scale
That'll cover most songs
The real killer I saw was chords
6:27 sounds like the opening to 46 and two by tool
Get happy soon ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Has no one noticed he’s playing the guitar with his non dominant hand… bro somehow managed to play using the opposite, cause he even when he switched back to base it was the other hand, so it may look like he’s struggling, but he’s doing what most professionals struggle to do

As a person who watches allot of people who play rhythm games and myself playing some rhythm games did really well! im glad to see you playing it
I can actually actively see him getting better with just a little practice, dont give up hope! You're pretty good at this!
@davie504 Great video, I had a similar experience with guitar hero (2 or 3?) back in the day. im a guitarist, and I kept failing on one song so i got pissed because they mapped it stupidly on one part of the solo, so I gave my cousin the game controller and I turned on my amp which was right there and like played the solo in frustration to "show the game how its done" haha I understand your frustrations. I am an acoustic player, but I do fingerpicking style and slap the E string for precussion rhythm sometimes, so I too slap the bass(string) lolol take care friend, your videos are great and your playing is epic.
1:20 Mine’s the exact same! It just doesn’t have the stickers.
Life tip: If you happen to fail the notes while playing Rockband or Guitar Hero and your friends are making fun of you, just say the developers put the wrong notes.

I’ve had the same problem with Guitar Hero and Rock Band playing drums…. Very frustrating no one else could play the drum parts to any song and I have been playing drums since before I was born
Doing over and over and over and over again to see very small improvements sometimes.. you really are a pro musician 🥲
the taps on guitar hero really are like that, tho

Note placement aside, great to hear some of the old classics again. The 24-string and uke bass solos are still two of my very favourites of your pieces. I also laughed at the video. 69/10, would watch again.
I would like to challenge you to map the notes any better.
@@GHSpaghettithey literally weren't even mapping the same notes to the same button consistently. Some of the rhythm game mappers just want complicated bs instead of a coherent song.

I just started learning around a month and a half ago, coming from a hand drum playing background, and seeing amazing bass players like yourself makes me really look forward to the future of my bass playing. You really show what is possible with the instrument and what can be accomplished by lots of practice and dedication to the craft. Thanks for all the bass videos, and all that you do. You gotta use your thumb to slap the trigger for the strumming. That way when you get one of those triples, you just give it a slap down/ hook up with your fingers/slap down with thumb again pretty much as fast as you can (especially if you haven’t played the game in a while). Developing ambidexterity with the up vs down on the switch makes you way better at the game
