- As Brazil approaches presidential elections, "The Territory" documents the struggle of the Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people in the Brazilian Amazon against the deforestation and destruction of their land by farmers and others illegally extracting resources, which has expanded under far-right President Jair Bolsonaro. We speak with director Alex Pritz and two people featured in the film, ahead of its release on Friday: Bitaté Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, an Uru-eu-wau-wau leader, and activist Neidinha Bandeira. "The Indigenous populations [in Brazil] are being massacred," says Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, who helped film how his people are fighting to preserve nearly 7,000 square miles of their territory. "We will never stop fighting for our territory and for our rights."

Ignorance be will be the death of us all. This film needs to be shown in every classroom, in every home. Protect our mother earth at all costs!
Exactly what they did to us Hawaiians , the native Americans… and they keep doing it…
Colonizers and colonization is the same no matter the country or skin color. It's a complete tragedy, with all we know about the horrors of America's sins, other countries are using the US model for the eradication of indigenous people. This is the result when countries cannot acknowledge, understand, educate, and give reparation for its terrible past.
Thank you democracy now for shining light on this important topic. Congressional members are at fault throughout the planet.
I have kept up with these stories for years about the Amazon and indigenous cultures. Great job, Amy and Democracy Now. Can't wait of to see this documentary. I cannot wait to watch this film. Why isn't the US supporting the Earth's lungs and the Eru eu wau wau people who are defending them? Will we ever learn?
excellent coverage, introduction, for us viewers, as ever Amy
Maybe you should encourage farmers to do small scale multicultural farms in Brazil. That way they can get more crops and less deforestation. The small scale farms with multiple crops on it can help heal soil and cut down on deforestation in Brazil. Also local people can get the food they need.
We all need the Amazon and its people to be preserved and respected. The rich are rich enough. May God protect these indigenous people🙏
We make the Ukrainians as a must . You would think Nato and the United States would step up and stop Brazil and protect the Amazon .
Cannot wait to see it
This video should be seen around the world.
Is it normal to burst into tears when considering the plight of the Earth? You'd think after 40 years of acceptance of mankind's inevitable destruction that would stop happening. But I love nature like most people love family. Always have.
We have to save it!!! ❤️💔❤️💔
Protect them Like an endanger species
Corrupt politicians should be kicked out.
