Please, what kinda farm are you running.
Coz it really seems like it's a mouse and rat farm.
Or is it normal to have so many mice and rats when you have about a thousand traps.
It's a paradox I need explained.
Are you encouraging (feeding) them / breeding them?
Or why do you have so many mice, and when needed rats on demand?
Really amazed by old traps, wish you had a playlist with all of them.
Also could you make a video on how to make humane traps from common items.
Test them and tell us which are the best.
There's several CZcams videos about it, I made the coke bottle one. But then just decided to go ahead and use the common trap. But I only had like one mouse.

I feel like the trap would be improved a lot by having it drop the rats into a bucket below.
The easiest way would be to remove the back chicken wire then make a funnel to the bucket. The drive to escape will drive them into the bucket.
I would like to see that modification in action! I am thinking the rats may be too smart to enter a funnel unless they were actually thrown into it.
And make it electrical motor driven
@@Matt-dc8lp That would be quite a complicated modification. I think the fact that this is all driven by springs is brilliant
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 I'm not suggesting a modification, more like a new trap. Take the concept (swinging bar) and make one that's motorized (and over a bucket)
They are captured and chosen to fight in a gladiator arena for their lives.
Feels like the hunger games
That would be awesome!!
"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!"

This one would be more effective if on other side of trap door the rats would fall I to a bucket of water.
More like a water trough or modified old bathtub, on a larger sized scale layout of course
@@Stratos53100 Or a pool.

@@NicoBabyman1 Lol I liked your comment as soon as the notification came up xd
Looks like there is a hole on the side of this trap. What if you hooked a tube up with a one-way door to a separate holding container? Then the rats would go through the hole and try to escape. That would solve the problem of them being behind the trap door and blocking it. I'd love to see a second video with this modification. Cheers!
Matt Richardson I was thinking about sloping the back (storage) side and add some oil to the bottom so they slip and have no traction...
Might just have to tilt the whole thing a bit and lube the inside...
That's a door
Oh sorry i commented this before i saw this
Thanks for watching. Leave you questions for Q&A time below.

Alligator: cut into bite sized pieces, bread and fry similar to fried shrimp. Eat with favorite condiment to dip. It's quite good actually.
True dat
Yes, that's how we do it in the gator sunshine state. If you wanted to use Cajun seasoned breading that's good too.
It depends on how its cooked. I had it once at a restaurant in the Chicago burbs called Crawdaddy Bayou. It was kinda rubbery/chewy.
The hole over the hedge gang showed up to eat those rats

He is eternally curious like myself and I want to thank you for producing wholesome, educational, real life entertainment!
A weekly mouse trap video was, IMO, the lamest channel on CZcams, however, I’ve become hooked and eagerly look forward to each new video. I’m dumbfounded by all the different types of traps which exemplifies the old old saying about building a better mouse trap. I would like to commend you for your clean and quality productions!!! Thank you.

This isn't really a question but more of a suggestion for a future video. I was wondering if you'd be able to have your kids draw up a design for a mouse trap and try to recreate it and set it up for action to see how they perform. Just an idea that I thought would be interesting!
I'm going to call that rat who escaped "Splinter".
Somebody hunt down that splinter
Great video as always! Thanks for telling us about the notification snag with the phone. I watch for your mouse trap Mondays videos every Monday and look forward to them. Great job Shawn!👍🙂

2nd RAT: COME HERE!!!
I'd like to see a modification of this trap to make it function properly, would be very interesting since I've never seen one like this
Yes, basically a better design could be built to make a version that works better.
Fried alligator is great. Season to you liking, egg wash and flour. From Louisiana we ate it quite often. Especially at the Shrimp and Petroleum festival always get gator on a stick. Gator and onions battered and fried on a stick.
Posem:WHERES MY FOOD!!?
Skunk:OH YOU WANNA PIECE OF ME!!!?
Posem:ok nevermind
Took one look at this trap in action and instantly knew they are not enough towels in the worls to even try using a live pet rat for a demonstration.
Little design changes would make that trap so much better. Great video!
Thanks Shawn, I enjoy the content of your videos and the way you present that content. I hope CZcams keeps it worthwhile for content providers like you, as I will always watch

Fried alligator is not bad. I know....fried foods. But this is how I have had it, and it was not bad. I am glad your family is doing better after that car accident. I was t-boned earlier that year
I admit I was lucky, even though I had many issues after it
Nothing like lunchtime and a Mouse Trap Monday video. Thanks!

Yay!!! My favorite part of Mondays!
Alligator is great. Soak in salt water solution, egg wash, bread crumbs or batter, and fry...
Lightly season gator meat with salt and pepper prior to dredging them in flour. Combine buttermilk and hot sauce into 1 mixture. Dip the gator meat into the buttermilk and hot sauce mixture and dip, once again, in flour. Then place in deep fryer until golden brown, just a couple minutes.
Most people say "Hit that bell" but thanks for the tutorial on turning on notications lol
You are the "rat whisperer". Love how the rats and mice just fall asleep in your hands. Just look at that cute little nasty rat sleeping as you caress it by the tail and lay it down on that rock.

Smoked Alligator jalapeno poppers. Tim Farmer is a medically retired Marine, (arm mangled in a cycle accident) then retired from Kentucky Fish & Game. Have you ever made your own mouse/rat trap? I'd love to see you make a modern day version of this rat trap with all the problems fixed - it could be great!

Have you ever caught anything other than mice by accident with a mouse trap
He caught a squirrel once
I read that as “trapping 95 year old rats” and thought damn those are old rats.
Rats: "You dont know da wae"
Traps: "catches rats"
A lot of Shawn's galaxy brain rats actually went into the thing suspecting nothing, so the design/layout might be a winner that should be further developed with modern techniques.

Hi shawn
When you are so early the mouse is still alive
Imagine what “my mechanics

That skunk was like “what am I doing, alright I’m doing it.”

Oh, good one!
Noodle Jotaro I finally found my master (I think)
I was once in Montréal, Québec. We choose Casey's as our restaurant of the week and surprise, they had a plate build around alligator or crocodile 'steak'. That was a while ago, more than 20 years, but you never know. When looking at the menu, our way was to scan the whole menu to find something we didn't know, not used to or prepared in a way we were not accustomed to. That day we were served.
Another great video, Shawn. Many thanks!
When was the last time you gave it a little flip?
That skunk just proved why the 2nd amendment is so important... LOL
He was armed, the opossum wasn't...
I love how it just opened the door and left nonshalatly
One of the coolest traps I have seen. Looks like it just needs a simple intermittent latching mechanism so the rats cant lift the door and escape
What is your method to dispatch a rat or mouse ?
Probably slaughtering
The door to the trap needs to be spring loaded with a spring that's softer than the mechanics of the mechanism but still strong enough to keep the rats in.
Why am I so surprised at how intelligent those rats are! Even the parents teach their little rat babies how to avoid traps! 😂 Anyhow I absolutely love your videos Shawn and hope you & the family are well!
The rat that escaped is really smart; even tried destroying the evidence.
4:25 OG Rat escaped
"Graaaaah! I have the strength of ten rats!"

If you don't like packaged alligator, don't swear it off. Fresh fried alligator is better than chicken nuggets. But every package of frozen I've tried has been ick.
I would like to see this trap with both a drop area and an external spring added. This channel is great for practical engineering!
Gator, cut into bite sized pieces. Dip in a simple beer batter. Fry in peanut oil. Dont over cook. Serve with several sauces, plum, bbq, honey mustard or any you like.
@Shawn Woods You could improve this by cutting out the floor and putting a tote under it so that rats will fall downward after being shot through the door.
Long time subscriber here. Thanks again for your unique and quite enjoyable videos. I hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Wow a trap that catches 95 year old rats!! I never knew rats grew to that age!!
I like the idea of this trap because one careless rat could make one or several careful rats being swept under the rug. I agree with others who say the back should lead to a bucket so that the rats can't try to get out through the gate. Really unique construction that with a few tweaks could be really successful.
Not being gory, just interested in how you dispatch the non-native mice and rats.
I imagine the springs have lost a good bit of tension over the past 100 years or so, especially on the door.
You’d think that the rats would be able to read that it’s a Surprise Self Setting Rat Trap! But I guess it’s dark
Great vid man!
You better believe it’s action packed
Thanks for all your hard work. We love your channel.
Your videos are my favorite part of monday well tuesday in here.
Nice traps! I used to run a set of 20 of those old rat catchers back in the late 90s.
Love it! Thank you!
Glad you’re showing more live rat traps better then covering up the kill traps
Shawn woods you are so funny when you explain stuff at the end. I love it.
Try alligator like this: cut into 1/2" thick fillets, dip in whipped egg and then seasoned Italian breadcrumbs. Fry in EVOO in a pan until golden brown. Works great for chicken too. Super easy.
You should create a Chanel segment in which you try to improve previous not soo good traps to make em reliably functional.
Suggestion: Remove the bottom of the holding cage. Place the trap over a 5 gal bucket with H2O in the bottom. The rats get kicked in then fall into the bucket. Yout making modules of two different traps work together this way.
No need for notification... I'm always eager to see what you've posted every week. A nice break!!
