Even when you don't have a ton of time, you can still eat a healthy, plant-based diet while traveling. Today I'm showing you some of my favorite store-bought travel snacks and some easy homemade travel snacks as well. You can take all of these items through security so that you have ample snack options on even the longest flights! And if you do need to pack some large liquid food items in a carry-on, I show you how to do that as well.

► Homemade Lara Bar Recipe:
1 cup nuts (raw or roasted)
1 1/2 cups dried fruit (preferably pitted Medjool dates or a combination of dates and other fruit)
Optional: pinch of salt, spices, cocoa powder, mix ins
If desired, roast the nuts in a 350F oven for 8-10 minutes or until fragrant. Allow them to cool completely. Place the cooled nuts into a food processor and process until a fine meal forms. Add in your salt and optional spices or cocoa powder and pulse 1-2 more times. Add in the dates and process until a sticky dough forms that holds together when pinched between your fingers.
Roll the dough into balls or press the dough into a rectangle, chill it in the fridge and then cut it into bars.
► Healthy Zucchini Bread Muffin Recipe:
2/3 cup non-dairy milk + 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar (combine together and let sit for 5 minutes)
1/3 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 cup maple syrup
6 tablespoons aquafaba
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon fine sea salt
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
1 ½ cups grated zucchini, excess water squeezed out.
Preheat your oven to 400F/200C.
In a liquid measuring cup, combine the non-dairy milk and the vinegar. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes to turn into "buttermilk."
In a large mixing bowl whisk together the oil, maple syrup, aquafaba, vanilla, spices, baking powder, baking soda, salt and "buttermilk." Next stir in the whole wheat flour and the drained shredded zucchini until just combined. Divide the batter among 12 muffin cups and bake for 16-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

I watch a lot of vegan bloggers and, while I love experimenting in the kitchen, I really appreciate the simplicity and still delicious recipes, meal preps, and what I eat in a weeks. I find it actually inspires me to have simple fun in the kitchen with wholesome ingredients. Thank you!
So glad you find my recipes simple and easy…that’s what I like best! Thanks for commenting and for your support!
I'm from Europe, the Nak'd bars are incredibly expensive - your recipe for homemade ones is great thank you!
I never buy my own either! This was a rarity!
I would love to see a shopping trip showing the grocery stores in Malaysia. It's always interesting to see what they carry.
Okay! Thanks for the suggestion!!
The apples and cinnamon are a great hack for traveling and as a snack at work.
The apples remain crisp and do not turn black.
On our last trip I sprinkled peanut butter on top and it was very tasty.
Thank you for the great hack!
Yum!!! Love the PB addition!
I always clean out my fridge, cupboards, my flat and do all my laundry including changing the bed sheets and covering up my bed so it doesn’t get dusty… so no, you are DEFINITIVELY NOT crazy! … I might be though 😂
Ah I love when I have time to do my sheets too! Such a nice way to return home ☺️☺️
Thankyou so so much. I'm going through hard time at the moment. (Eating disorder)
My wife and I struggle with meal prepping and recipes. You have been so refreshing and helpful. Love love your videos. I've just subscribed
Thanks so much for sharing Barry! I hope you continue to find my videos helpful!
I will do better when traveling. Great ideas, I like that you take the time to make a few items. We live off of fries on travel days 😂 until we get to where we're going. I love that you find items like those chips for your kids to enjoy when you know they'll see others eating in the airport. This is one of the toughest things for us being vegan is the kids feeling like they're missing out and sometimes leads to us letting them have non vegan stuff at times. Moderation I say.
Fries work too! And my kiddos aren’t fully vegan/plant based but I still try to think through plant based snacks they’ll like and actually eat!
YESSS thank you so much for sharing! ✨☀️🧡🔆
What an experienced woman! Thankyou. London
Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Looking forward to making the Lara bars , thanks for sharing. 😊
You’re welcome! I hope you like them!
Hi Faith , love you video. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who back tea, when my family and I are traveling. My husband thought I was crazy for doing that. Thank you!!
Always bring your favorite tea ☺️☺️
I just did same thing! Glad I’m not the only one. Took muffins, bars, nuts, chips and dried fruit. Also bread and peanut and almond butter packets from Justin’s. I had muffins for breakfast on plane and peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I think it saved some cash, plus I would not have had time to buy lunch. I did not know that one can bring food on flights until this year.
You stock up too! And yes, all those things are perfect to take on a plane!
Timely video! We’re taking a flight in less than two weeks and this will help with prep. I also made zucchini bread this week-adding some dairy-free chocolate chips! 😋 Thanks for all of the inspo!
Oh I should have added chocolate chips too! Hope you have a great trip and take lots of food!
@@TheConscientiousEater, you should next time. Thank you!
Hi Faith, I do the same with the fridge every time I travel :) Eat all that would go bad ohterwise, wipe it down and be happy upon my return thank you for antoher very useful video on snacks, will come in handy just this weekend as my husband and I go on another vacation 🙂
It’s so nice to come back to a clean, empty fridge!
Wow, great ideas! You’re such a great momma, and have adorable kids!
Thanks so much for watching and for your support!
@@TheConscientiousEater my pleasure!
I totally agree with you. I bring my vegan creamer with me whenever I travel
Best decision of the trip!
I bring my creamer everywhere!! Even if I'm gonna be out of the house all day, I even bring it then in case I want coffee 😁
Thank you for all these terrific ideas!! 😃
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the great ideas!!
You’re welcome!
What was that tool you used to cut the carrots? That would make carrots more fun for my kids I think.
I just call it a wavy knife! I think I put a link to one in the description if you want to check it out. We love ours!
Thank you. I love your videos
Thank YOU!
great video Faith!
Thanks for watching!!
Love this!! I have 2 Littles, 2 and 4 and this is so helpful!! Would love a video showing what you eat on your vacation!! ❤️😊
You’re right there in the same boat as me! And I thought I would film vacation food, but we never left our resort so it was kind of boring haha
@@TheConscientiousEater lol...I understand 😊
I'm gonna make the Lara bars. I started eating healthier recently. I always take a snack with me in the car because I have low blood sugar. Your recipe seems perfect.
And they’re so customizable so I hope you find a combo you like!
@@TheConscientiousEater There's a $2 off coupon for medjool dates Right Now. Score 😆
Its just my partner & I but we never go on any trip w/out snacks.😊
Snacks are a MUST when traveling :)
Hi! I love your content and have been binge watching your videos recently! I'm curious - what inspired you and your family to move to Malaysia?
Thanks so much! And we've always loved Asia (we've lived in China and Thailand) and Malaysia is a super easy country to live in. People speak english, it's very developed and it's easy to fly in and out of. We love it here! Although I do miss the changing seasons sometimes :)
Good morning, Bravo, insane video-work-
Thanks so much!
You are very organized and plan well. Can I ask Why you are living in Malaysia? What scenery I saw looked beautiful. Thanks for all your great ideas and recipes on your other videos. I also purchased your Plant Biased book. Haven't had time to look at all of it yet, but I like what I see so far! P.S. Your kids are adorable..and hi to your hubby too
I would also like to know more about why they are living in Malaysia. A Q&A would be great.
I really need to do a Q&A! Keep an eye out for a poll where you can ask your questions!
It wasn’t always our plan to live here but my husband and I work on line, love to travel and love Asia. We’ve lived in China and Thailand too for a short time. We were looking for out next place to settle down and had some friends in KL, malaysia. When we visited we fell in love and now we’re here! Malaysia is a super easy place to live as it’s really developed and people speak English and it’s easy to travel in and out of. Oh and it’s cheap!
So random but I saw a video that said you can put green tea leaves for hormonal Acne idk if that’s what you have but I just had to share that with you
Thanks! I haven’t heard that, but I feel like green tea is good for everything ☺️
Beanfield’s has been out of stock for so long! My fav chips😭
I’ve never bought them but they’re good!
Yummy 😋 vegan travel food Faith. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕Faith & family 👨👩👧👦.
Thanks so much!
Wow no energy bites?! 😊
I know, crazy!!
As a vegan, do you think you would introduce non vegan foods if your child had nut/coconut/soy allergies? Just curious, I’m navigating some big unexpected major allergies for my son and I’ll be introducing food soon.
I’d actually say I’m plant based and my husband and kids aren’t! So they eat whatever. They eat mostly plant based because they can’t cook and I make all the food decisions, but sometimes they have eggs at home or meat when eating out. I thought my kids would be fully plant based, but after living with meat eating relatives for over a year and my kids constantly seeing people they love and trust eat meat, I’ve decided to let them make that decision when they want/are older. My 4 year old knows I don’t eat meat, but she still loves it. And my 2 year old is so picky and at the bottom of the weight average so I just try to get him to eat whatever!
Hi Faith, I love your recipes and your balanced point of view in general. I find it really refreshing. However, I would suggest some sort of disclaimer to your audience when you talk about offering whole nuts to your young children. Obviously you know them and their eating capabilities best, but the general recommendation is to not introduce whole nuts to kids under the age of 4 because of the choking risks.
Thanks so much for watching! And thanks for the suggestion. Yes, it is only my daughter who has whole nuts so that would have been good to clarify. My son either has nuts that have been blended into granola bars or eats nut butter. I’ll try to clarify that next time for sure!
