This game is criminaly underrated by the fans of AC. I know that the release of an incomplete game for western audiences contributed to that, but to me AC3 is the best AC game ever, even above the three greats.
I didn't knew Ace combat until 2 month ago . I finished the old ones (including air combat) and I just finished AC4 (on emulator) and what a good discovery . I like the 4 but I prefer the 3 Jp version for now .
3 is really special. I'd say 4 is more fun gameplay wise, Zero is more elegant with its plot and theme, but 3's characters, story, music and atmosphere are outstanding.

I don't know but man they must have been hitting it pretty hard. o_O
Was heavily influenced by the anime tendencies of the era (to me the best era of Anime), where you got amazing sci fi, Cyberpunk, futuristics movies and series with a twich of realism or philosophy like Eva, Cowboy bebop, Akira, Hyper future vision Gunnm, Bubblegum crisis, Ghost in the shell, Patlabor, Police A.D, Appleseed, etc.

A lot of shit happened in strangereal between AC7 and AC3.
I played this game as a kid (the japanese one)... I didn't understand a thing. I will try to play it again with the english translaton.
For me, this is the child between Ace Combat and Evangelion.

I still have abstract memories and strange sensations when I research and remember the images and sensations I felt when I was an 8 year old kid playing this game...a time when we had a clean mind full of possibilities and imagination, where what we were playing was mixed with reality

Story, animation, music, and gameplay ! I was a kid 9 yrs old during the time this game came out and still clearly remember it. The Japanese Version deserves to be among the best games of all time. That was still PS1 hardware! :)

I've already managed to play the Japanese and English versions, and I have to say one thing... THE JAPANESE HAS MUCH MORE CONTENT!
What are the endings of this game (Bad to Best)?
TBH, I think one of the points of the game (and maybe a contributor to why it didn't sell so good back in '99) is that there is no good ending, per se. No matter which track you take (Ouroborous, UPEO, GR, Neucom, the "Self-Aware" ending), you still end up with the world in a worse and uncertain place. Each of the companies and UPEO are thoroughly gutted and in no condition to maintain order, Dision's goals turned out to be petty revenge for the death of his girlfriend and his ultimately unwanted digitization, lives ruined across the board...
And once you unlock all 5 endings, it gets even worse.

Corporations cannot and absolutely will not maintain order, they are for profit and nothing more, then being destroyed would mean a government is forced to be established.

Yes! i allways senced the same. I played this loooong time ago, for some reason i allways remember this plane as "wyvern"...pretty strange...
Not quite. It's based off of an experimental plane called the X-36. The Wyvern wasn't a thing until AC4 (2001), two years after this game came out.

The first time I played this mission... at 3:36 I said "WTF is going on??!!!, the game crashed/bugged? 🤣 BTW I played the japanese version so I didn't know the context.
i played the game, and had no anime cutscenes, either is is fake, or japan banboozled us all in americas again.
It's notorious that Namco utterly disembowelled and retconned the story/anime for the NTSC and PAL releases.
The soundtrack of ac3 is honestly the weakest. I know it's supposed to be atmospheric, but it gets annoying when the same sound is playing over and over again. Sometimes, they don't even fit with the situation at all, especially when you fight the geopelia.
I feel you. I think the ending theme is the only song I felt was *right* for the moment.

Yep. Which is actually really weird because Mashiina Go, who did the soundtrack is a fucking amazing composer. Listen to the God Eater game's soundtrack, they're hype as shit. No Way Back, Wings of Tomorrow, Blood Rage, Alma Mater, Nemesis, God and Man...
Actually I enjoyed the menu music... But yeah anything else not so memorable
