    SON!!!!!! Couple of things. When moving the big conc rings, rather than put the one around the back as you did, put two over the top but crossed. Easier to do and doesn't allow movement.
    Second, J29 truckstop is always worth pulling into and speaking to the staff walking around as they'll get you in if there's room and there was some behind the wash.
    Other than that, brilliant video as always and very informative for new drivers. Well done.

    That’s one thing I don’t miss about general haulage, is the stupid O’clock in the morning starts. Who wants a to start work at 2/3am in the morning? it’s the middle of the night. I’m on the tippers now and I’ve definitely got my life back, working normal then go home and see my family every night. Yes the money isn’t as good, but at least I’m not losing valuable time with my kids I’ll never get back. It’s exactly why I meet so many Trampers who are divorced. Anyway another good video Deady, keep em coming mate, reminds me of the days when I was doing curtain sides and flaltbeds with R.T Keedwell.

    We call that "Haddon services" locally (Coz it's next to the village of Haddon)
    Also, think yourself lucky you did that run in the day coz at night the A1 south is shut at Buckden. You have to come off the A1 onto the A14 and go via Papworth onto the A428 and rejoin the A1 at St Neots !

    personally if I was doing a 15 hour day, I would also plan in taking the first 45 minute break around the time the roads are the worst, so like school time, so yes you are doing it right starting at 4am. because then means you are off the road for 8:30'ish which gives the worst traffic time to clear off the roads. for the workers starting at 9, and the school run to finish about 9:10-9:15. so can't blame you starting your shift at 4am if you can get a decent drive in before the mad rush.

      but saying that I have also seen the traffic heading into Cardiff at 7am also, so best to be heading out of Cardiff about that sort of time.

    Hi Mate, Might have missed it but did you say you took a 15 min break and that reset your WTD for another 6 hours? Think you mean another 3 hours before you need another 15 min. A full 45 min will reset the WTD, either 3 x 15 min (WTD) or full 45 min driving time break will do it as well.

    • @YouTubeuser-eq4up
      @YouTubeuser-eq4up Před 3 lety

      A 15 mins break does give you another 6 hours wtd or until your first 4 and 1/2 hours drive runs out then a 30 min break resets it all again

      You can have a collective agreement with all employees to not impose the 10 hour night time limit. However, even without any agreement in place, this rule on night time working is flouted by most trucking companies just like the 48 hour average working week.

I must say I’d rather do your job doing some mileage and away rather than doing 7-14 drops a day plus collections yeah it’s all pretty local 130 mile a day it’s stuff all but when every collection is wanting the same time! And no one has the nuts to say listen we can provide what you need but this is the time we can do no earlier no later! It’s the same anywhere. Any company and this is what I don’t get with all the chaps hating on the job. It is what it is! In any job! If ya don’t like it jog on feck off! Enjoy fella hopefully will catch ya for a breaky one day fella

Hes saving to do his class 1. Saw you reversing past our truck and Was telling him that drivers got a youtube channel, cracking videos worth the watch then looked around and was like f*@k I hope you haven't just ripped front end off that parked car!! The only way that I'm aware of to get in to Australia as a truck driver is on a 1 year 18 to 30 working holiday Visa, as trucking isn't on the skills in demand list. Unlike the UK who don't recognise aussie truck licences at all, most states in Australia will let you drive trucks on your UK class 1 for 3 months. However, whilst they'll then swap your UK car and bike licences without having to take a test, you do have to pass a test to continue driving trucks. If you have a UK class 1, they'll let you skip the aussie rigid truck test and go direct to a HC test which is the same as a class 1. Unfortunately, it's not the same going from Australia to the UK. Even if you have an aussie MC licence covering you for B Doubles and Road Trains, the UK won't allow you to drive any trucks on your aussie licence and require you to start at the bottom again and first pass a rigid test before advancing to the class 1 trailer test. Then there's also the driver CPC qualification which is required and seems harder than actually taking the truck test itself. Definitely appears to be a lot harder in the UK than becoming a truck driver in Australia.
