Planetary Ring Systems

  • Saturn's most distinguished feature is its brilliant, shining ring system, which has stuck out to astronomers since the 17th century. However, Voyagers 1 & 2 in the 1980s revealed to us that each of the large planets in the Solar System is home to a ring system, but each varies wildly in its composition, arrangement, and substantiality. In this video, we will explore the complex and elegant natural phenomenon that is planetary ring systems.

That wouldn't be good for astronomy. The rings are so reflective they'd literally shine bright enough to create an effect similar to the Moon - severely limiting the amount of dim objects we can see.
