    Highly requested video! How I make sections on a diamond painting using washi tape or release papers. It's quite easy and I prefer it to simply pulling back the plastic because I really dislike the sound of the crinkling plastic. What do you like to do? Let me know in a comment!

    I use all these methods. I love them all including rolling up the painting and using plastic clamps. It just depends on the size of the painting and my mood at the time. Great video!

    I use a row of release papers, but, keep the clear cover on because I want to protect the canvas from dust and hair. I have to go several days between diamond painting on some canvases. The crinkling clear cover annoys me, fortunately, it does not annoy my husband 😊

    I just peel and place! But when I do a mystery, I'll probably use release papers. And I do like seeing other methods; that plastic does get annoying once you've made progress on a canvas (but it helps keep the dog hair and dust out)!

    TL;DR Thank you! I have 2 hairy pets who shed so trying to find a way to section my diamond art and keep the finished parts covered too, probably will try the second method lol
    Thank you! I usually don't mind the plastic but sometimes, especially towards the middle of sections, it's a pain to roll all the way back and expose so much glue at a time. But I have a very hairy cat and dog who both shed a lot, trying to find a method that lets me section it off easier while also covering the finished portions to protect it (as much as possible) from hair. I think I'm going to try one of these methods, honestly probably the second one and maybe keep the plastic I cut off and tape it over the finished portions. I've also seen a lot of people use parchment paper as release paper, which might be a good idea.

    I'm working on my first square drill medium sized canvas and just peeling back worked for the first few inches but now I am using parchment paper, the precut sheets cut down to smaller size, and it makes things so much easier.

    I use the same method for doing my paintings, marking off squares across. I find washi tape so expensive here that I don’t use it. I use black craft tape from a large roll that I purchased at Michaels. Depending on my mood at the time I’ll make the rectangles larger or smaller. It really does make me feel productive, and if the canvas is confetti heavy it does make it a tad easier. 😊

    Good morning Rachel Rae, I have not used Washi tape. I have Washi tape. I might consider using on the next canvas. Usually what I do is put down drills in the largest area first ( sorry I don't know what that is called.). Then I keep going from the most amount the same color down to the least amount. Then, I place the drills in what is confetti. Works for me. Maybe this works me because this is what my ADHD brain wants to do.
    But, I will try the Washi tape on the next canvas which I call Ying and Yang.
    Have a wonderful dry day, because it is raining in SoCal.

  • @tammyglasenappsimon4941

    Hey Rachel
    I actually do both ways. I guess it depends on the DP and if I am going to enhance it. I just have trouble getting the washi tape to stay on the plastic. So it does get frustrating. I am using washi tape on a particular DP because I am putting enhancements down but my problem I ran into is when I cut the plastic area the plastic sticks to the canvas plus it's so thick. I actually cut a little slit on my canvas.
    Plus the plastic isn't cutting very well.
    Any tips?

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  Před rokem +2

      The plastic has a right and a wrong side... Maybe if you place a small sticker on the side facing you it'll help when you go to put it back down... I've definitely struggled with the plastic myself - also I've cut through a canvas before 😅 you can fix it with a little duct tape on the back, but try maybe lining up the tape and then peeling up, cutting with scissors, and putting it back down? I haven't tried it but hopefully the lines will help you match it up when you put it back down. Otherwise maybe release papers would work best for that canvas...

    • @RachelRaeCraft
      @RachelRaeCraft  Před rokem +2

      Also someone suggested painters tape instead of Washi... That might stick better on that plastic!
