How to Cut Sections on Your Diamond Painting (Clear and White cover sheets)

Omgoodness, you're a life saver! Just started my 1st DAP a few days ago and it was driving me nuts having to constantly keep repositioning the paper minders. Your video was the first to pop up. I just ordered the ceramic knife pen that you're showing, but in the meantime, I used cloth medical tape and an Exacto knife. Yayyy!!! It worked perfectly! And the tape comes off easily when needed. Thank you so much for this VERY helpful tip! 😊
I did the razor knife method and it cut right thru the canvas. I wasn’t even using much pressure. I think release sheets are better then potentially ruining your canvas.

I actually cut through my canvas with the first one I didn’t know it could cut it but it was an easy fix
Oh no
Remove the plastic cover , Cut it on a Cutting board/pad . Replace Cover
1/2 the time and you will never cut the Canvas.

Thank you for sharing your diamond painting over washi tape I got ton of washi tape but I need ceramic blade. I will be working on that as well in 2022. :)
Just a friendly piece of advice, when peeling the cellophane off I would peel it off in a straight line instead of curving from one corner to the other. That is why in the first example the cellophane began to tear.

I cut through an 80$ canvas with exacto knife and I know a few other people who have also. I messed up when the blade got switched to a new one because my usual amount of pressure cut right through. I guess I'd been using a pretty dull blade before.

I cut through the diamond painting I wanted to do for my mum. Now I learned my lesson and I'm more careful with it now..
@@SapphireeCos I did the same! I was doing a photo of my gran for my mums birthday and cut straight through her face! After I stopped crying for a hour, I managed to tape and clue the back to hold it together and then use the diamonds to hold the front together and disguise the cut! This was only last week! :(

You can also use a seam ripper for clear cover, to devide your section.

Hey! Do you use blue tack or wax in the multiplacers? :)
I usually use blue tack in my 4 placer and pink wax in my 10 placer ☺️
Can scissors work as I am not a fan of knifes. I have a brand new pair that are small.
I use scissors to cut sections off my canvas, so yeah! As long as you make sure you’re cutting the cover paper and not the canvas, you should be good. I plan on getting a ceramic blade of my own soon, though
What do you use to cover up the drills once you have finished a section? Thanks 😊
Once the drills are on a section you don’t need to cover it with anything as the sticky part is covered with the drills.
Can you use a box cutter to cut through one? ^^
i’ve already started and i’m not sure what to do now?
i use something sharp to mark a section so i can use the scissors to cut it, the mark can still be seen so its a guide 😄

What should I do if I get blu tack on my canvas? Love your videos
I usually pick it off with my nail or with tweezers the best that I can. Sometimes it doesn’t come off all the way but the drill ends up covering it

I just plied back the plastic cover and took scissors to cut section, leaving 1 side attached so I can close it again.

Great question! You can try using one side of the scissors to slice the cover sheet - this might work better with the white cover sheets. You can also try just lifting the cover sheet and cut it like paper!

I know this is an older question but you can either use double sided parchment paper (NOT wax), or if you have double sided release papers.
The first time I used this exacto knife, I cut through my canvas! 🤦♀️

A Suggestion Edit your Script before shooting.
You can remove the Whole plastic cover after tapping or marking it how ever, then cut it on a cutting board then replace the cover. quicker , easyer, and you will never Damage the Canvas
