This programme had everything. No wonder my grandmother was addicted to it!

The Irma Barlow character could so easily have been rather annoying but for the expert and natural performance of the actress and her great comedy timing - Irma was always one of my favourite characters

Same over here in America. Country folks can’t stand outsiders at all. Even if your just passing through but like when you spend your money in there stores.

Mrs Walker should have more decorum than to be on the phone at mealtime. ‘Breakfast is for civilised conversation with Jack.’ I mean what example is she setting her ‘ward’, Lucille? What would Harry tell Lucille?

If you're going to be some sort of white knight of righteousness completely discarding the fact that this is from an era of certain gender expectations then at least have the power of good grammar.

Random comment: It’s 2023, and I’m aware and still adherent to many of the old gender roles. I’ve served my husband meals, and packed numerous lunches for the past 31 years. But, believe me when I tell you, that that man I’ve looked after all these years, has always, always been complimentary, polite, and grateful for everything I’ve done for him. I’m sick with cancer now. I do what I want, whenever I want-including cooking and cleaning, and now, my sweet husband very much enjoys looking after me. 👨🏻‍🦳❤️👵🏼
