Jack walker was a lovely man
The 'silent' ending is unbelievably brilliant.
Jack such a kind soul.
Eeeee Annie love!🥰
Lovely bit between Jack and Ena.
What a lovely fella Jack Walker, wonder why he hooked up with Annie, total opposites. Ena did have a good heart under that hard exterior.Enjoying these oldies.
No actors left like this any more.
Soooo true on that comment!
The last actress like violet carson was peggy mount
I think only Sandra Gough is the only cast member who is still alive. 😔
I had an Aunt just like Ena. I was her shadow, I got a kick out of how she was plain talking to everyone. She treated me like a favorite child.
Another Ena excellent performance!
Jack was so lovely in this episode.
She knew the moment it happened... poor Ena.
Most people's greatest fear is death; the mother of a dead child's greatest fear is living.
Poor Ena 😢😢
She knew Vera had gone - a mothers instinct
Love you Ena
Great performance. I couldn't stop crying.
Ena always acted like a a very old lady but in reality Violet was only 69!
fannycraddock99 In those days, people accepted what their age brought them, and didn’t try to pretend they were eternally young. She was an old lady then. People still routinely died in their sixties and seventies more so than now.
Sad part is that She never had any real life children yet any children she came across she was so kind too infact Davy Jones who played Colin her on screen grandson looked to have a Awsome bond with her
Last scene. Pure acting.
I like these English Soap Operas
Notice the Kellog's Corn Flakes box on Elsie's table with Kellog's scored out .
Great episode especially the very end!
Some truth in what Hilda said to Len! About time someone told him to think before making smart comments!
Jack Smethhurst (Love Thy Neighbour) as Percy Bridge . . .
Sadly died just recently 😞 😢.
2.20 Was that a mistake Peter Adamson (Len) made or deliberate? " He's putting roofs on a slate-uh slates on a roof!" 😂😂😂
Never understood why no one told Vera she was dying. Apart from it being a patient’s right to know, she’d have then known that she would be ‘gone’ before Ena, and wouldn’t have been offended when Ena said that when she (Ena) ‘left this world’ Colin would be all that was left.
It was a different world the 1960s, maybe the Doctor felt Vera wouldn't take the news well, or that she shouldn't be worrying for the little she had left. It's no easier today.
The ending 😢
A classic episode
Another great show.
Was Colin Lomax played by Davy Jones from the Monkees? Seem to remember reading that he played Ena's grandson 🤔.
He was
Aye I remember it well... we all had to put black tape on our cornflake packets and even over our eyes if we played volleyball in the nude..
What a legend ena was the best 😢😢😢😢😢👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍾🍾🍾
1966.1967 Elsie Tanner changed from Shelley Winters into Elizabeth Taylor - was it a crash diet ? plastic surgery? some secret potion? i guess we will never know
william f having a face lift may have had something to do with it
No just crap actress 😹
Her weight fluctuated a lot during the 60s I've noticed. In the 70s, when I remembered watching her, she seemed to stabilise.
She'd have made a great gangsters Molly, can see her with the Kray twins
Some really great lines in this--
If I had a time machine
Vera Lomax
10 /10
Sounded like Ena called Jack, Len, at 19:50.
No. She said lad'.
😢
What was the issue over Stan’s work anyway? Is it explained on a missing episode?
No, he was simply work shy.
I'm surprised Eddie Booth/Percy Bridge didn't call Stan a racist name when he walked in the pub covered in coal.
its eddie booth!!!
michael AD
Bloody Nora.
He was in it around early 80s too. Think he was a friend of Eddie Yeats 🤔.
Jerry booth
@@annoldham3018 passed away 1975
@@stevesouthall4718 no Steve, Jack Smethurst has died recently. Graham Haberfield, who played Jerry Booth, died in 1975 from a heart attack. He was only 33 bless him. But Jack Smethurst played a character called Eddie Booth in a series called love thy neighbour. Jerry Booth was Graham's Street character name, very confusing. 🥰😁
What happend at the end of the programme then please it was silent why ?????
First off Vera died and Jack comforted Ena who was about to break down. Then the silence during the credits was something they did to extend the drama before slowly adding the music. Does that help you?
😢
All those fluffed lines... was it the LSD or the coke kicking in?
