- Having made their escape from a KKK rally, the Soggy Bottom Boys give a live performance of their unexpected smash hit, "I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow"
What is O Brother, Where Art Thou about?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2000 comedy drama film written, produced, co-edited, and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. It stars George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson, with Chris Thomas King, John Goodman, Holly Hunter, and Charles Durning in supporting roles.
The film is set in rural Mississippi during the 1930s, and it follows three escaped convicts searching for hidden treasure while a sheriff relentlessly pursues them. Its story is a modern satire which, while incorporating social features of the American South, is loosely based on Homer's epic Greek poem the Odyssey.

One of the greatest American movies of all time. A true classic.
And based on, albeit loosely, The Odyssey (Homer). 🤙
Coen brothers. The greatest brothers in American movies of all time. A true classic.
The movie has Everything… it’s like a buffet or an everything bagel!
Sirens, devil worshipers, con artists, floods, scrubs (men), religious worshipers, plus more… it’s a great movie 🤘🏾👍🏽🖤🖤
Please movie title
@@davem3559 Are you kidding me... REALLY? It's in the title of the clip you twit!!!🤣
George Clooney Killed This Part
In my opinion, this is his finest work.
One of the all time great songs from a movie. So good.
U know it’s a real song right. Ralph Stanley
so good!
Song written in 1913, movie made in 2000.
The whole second half- and climax - of the movie rests on the song being good, and if it wasn't then this movie wouldn't have had the ability to make 76 million dollars during its 3-month-long screening back in 2000.
@@bigdawgproductions9912we know lol.
"He sold his soul to the Devil!"
*one face-melting guitar solo later*
"Worth it."
This movie is such a piece of culture, i love it.
"Is you is, or is you ain't" is something I'm going to try to add to my vocabulary 😅
😮😅😂
I remember Busta Rhymes saying it in the music video for "Light your ass on fire"
I think the line is purposely a parody of, "Is you is, or is you ain't my baby..." by Louis Jordan...
@@brianegendorf2023I think that line is in an old Woody Herman song.
It is a good old time saying I also use! Is you is or is you ain't my baby is a very good song.
The Coen Brothers at their very finest, with an amazing cast
Its a shame you're so mad they transitioned. just because they hadn't yet doesn't mean they weren't just closeted on the matter at this time? 2 trans people made things you loved. shit like that is supposed to help you grasp the normality of the subject, not make you a bitter bad person.
@@asksalottle220 Im sorry, but what now?? are you confusing the Coens with the Wachowski sisters who made the Matrix movies? At what point does my comment seem I am "mad" at anyone? Are you off your meds???
@asksalottle220 dafuq you going off on? Nobody here is mad.
It's comments like this that put an entire group in a bad light.
Go rage somewhere else
@@asksalottle220 sounds like YOU are the one that's mad. Also, nothing normal about transitioning. Sorry!
I once read that the directors originally wanted to actually have George Clooney singing the song himself, but after just 15 seconds of him singing, they decided to hire a actual singer. That's how the band Union Station ended up singing the actual song!! 😆
Only one of the three actually were singing, and I think it was the shortest if I remember correctly. The other two couldn't sing well enough to make it into the movie.
I thought it was George that asked to do the singing himself and they let him do it. Then they hired someone to dub over it for the release because he was not good.
@@MrErizid that could be true.
@@notaspy6719 Tim Blake Nelson, who was great as Buster Scruggs.
My older brother refused to believe that George Clooney couldn't sing. "There's no way someone related to Rosemary Clooney could be a bad singer!" he said
Before ZZ Top we had the Soggy Bottom Boys 😂
Hell yeah
😂💯
I read that Pete Hogwallop was actually Dusty Hills great grandfather....its true!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looking for old time Rock S Rock
Last time I saw my Mama was Dancing to this at the Relax Inn before she passed
Sorry for your loss. Hope you and your family and doing well.
My condolences and may your memories of your Mama be as fresh and heavenly as the lady was herself. My Nan was a lady like your Mama, loved a good knees up and never was there a more saintly Lady. I hope that you are dancing to this beautiful tune also 🤙
George does a great dance as a Soggy Bottom Boy
Called a Shoulder Dance.
One of the best movies I have ever watched from my childhood
100
The single audibly lower “boo” from Big Son #2 was always amazing to me.
In an interview Dan Tyminski told his Wife he had a chance to have his voice come out of George Clooney mouth. Her response was " Honey I have been waiting years for that" He did laugh at that.

Is you is or is you ain't my constituents?!? Classic
I love this movie so much. It's funny as hell, and this is one of my favorite songs. I listen mostly to Hip-Hop/R&B, and am not a big fan of Country, but this one always hit different.
Also, that frog scene... 😂😂
its not actually "country" as we know it today, more like folk music, and there is a difference!
One of the best movies EVER.
I can watch this clip million times and it still feels as watching the very first time😊
Love the part when the grandson says, “but pappy they’s integrated”.
What does he mean by that? I get that miscegenated means mixed race, but integrated? The context makes it seem like it's supposedly a bad thing and people like them regardless of this bad thing. How is integration a bad thing? Must be some meaning I don't know.
@xxDrain I assume it's because of the black man in their group.
Segregation being a thing at the time with a strong KKK influence..
@@user-xq7ru6rw3d Oh. Ok that makes some sense.
@@xxDrain its the south in slavery days. Yes they very much thought integration was a bad thing.
and the guy saying they are miscegenated is saying the same thing but hes not smart enough to know the correct term like his political opponent's son does.
I met Clooney when he was filming a movie where I worked (Michael Clayton). He is a genuinely nice guy. Also, Charles Durning fought on D-Day. God bless him.
Durning was a very good actor
Michael Clayton is such an underrated movie.
really i figured he was mean and ill tempered, likely to set people on fire on that he met
Hot Damn !!! It's the Soggy Bottom Boys !
Great title! Great movie!
This is my favorite movie of all time. I have no idea how many times I've seen it
Homer's Odyssey in rural Mississippi. It's a fantastic movie with an amazing soundtrack.
Clooney was born for this role.
Remember the line "I left old Kentucky, the place I was born & raised" - very true for him as a Kentucky native!
When you ridden out on a rail tie, you're in serious trouble.
This brilliant movie convinced my brother in the end that George Clooney is more than a handsome face.... And this scene we played as loud as possible.... Boy, was that fun watching the movie several times... My COEN Brothers favorite for all times!! 🥳🥳
Clooney lipped it. Sorry.
Lol. His singing voice is dubbed by Dan Tyminski. The original lead vocal on that song. Unless you were talking about his acting chops that is and not his singing.
Burn after reading. Best of him.
@@kopicat2429 When Tyminski learned he was cast for this film, he told his wife she'll get to hear his voice coming out of Clooney's face, to which she responded 'that's all I've ever wanted.'
@@VecTron5 Ahahahaha!
No regrets to my high school playing this movie in every class...
😂❤What a classic!
Some of the best lines ever, from start to finish:
Geographical oddity, two weeks away from Dapper Dan in any direction😂
Cohen Bros outdid themselves on this one
Charles Durning was a magnificent actor
Costa Rica y Pnama los mejores de America.... Saludoa desde Cartago
Such a great movie with amazing casts 👏👏👏👏
Hot Damn! It's The Soggy Bottom Boys!
Where they were born and raised ❤
Just wanted to make a funny point, when George Clooney said "I said farewell to old Kentucky, the place that I was born and raised " is actually true!!!! He was born in Lexington, Ky, His dad was an anchorman in Cincinnati and tv host and his Aunt was Rosemary Clooney a singer and actress from back in the day. Just a little useless info for ya!!!! Lol
My dad loved this movie...eveytime i hear this, i remember how much it reminded him of Oklahoma...Collinsville to be exact. Much love to anyone out there!! Cutlers in cali saying hello!!!
love me some ancient Greece!
Buster Scruggs told me about these guys!
One of the funniest movies ever laughed all the way through a must see
I get a great laugh every time I watch them on the stage. 😂😅
Dang Clooney. Looking GOOD.
been a while since I've seen this movie 😂
A great movie.
I love the soggy bottom boys. Wish they were a real band
Gives me chills every time I hear the song
Das Lied ist so geil!😊
Brilliant movie. One of my favourites.

Love this song, love this movie, love these comments
I watch this every time I see this video. Still get pumped up…..
Country music isn't my cup of tea, but dammit, them Soggy Bottom Boys be murdering it
'Home Free', those boys have true voices for this song.

This was such a great movie
Literally run out of town on a rail tie!
What a brilliant film!
LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL OF IT!!!
Perhaps my favorite Joel & Ethan Coen's movie. And what a song!
This is meditation...
Ok that was funny,😂❤
Yep, that's fine, mighty fine.
funniest shit i seen in a long time, poverty sorrowing and depression. welcome to USA
This is a good movie. I like when they show that cop with the fire reflecting off his glasses..
1 of greatest movies😊❤
Imagine if they busted out with heavy metal.
Just blew everyones mind with a sick downtuned riff that melted faces.
See now this is how life should be. The crowd didn’t care there was a black man in the band. If only the people back then were this open to a good time and good music regardless of who was playing it. Black folks, escape convicts who cares. Life is too short for this shiz
I can appreciate your attitude. You know this is a movie right and back in those days, the present time too, they would have lynched all three of them, and set the black man on fire with his genitals shoved in his mouth? Look how Beyonce was treated at the VMA.
@@Ryooken Your last sentence is so comically at odds with the rest of your statement, I don't think you should be lecturing other people on reality.
@@daveconleyportfolio5192 Oh? You realize that means you don't know anything about the past or the recent present.
@@Ryooken yeah boy Beyoncé sure has it rough🙄
@@EATSLEEPDRIVE2002 You don't know about Beyonce's life. All you know is she has money now because she worked hard for it. That's that racist ignorance again. You forget how she was treated at the CMA for both standing against police brutality, and no she isn't immune, and singing country music that was thought to be exclusive to white folks. Her money has protected her somewhat but she isn't immune. What annoys you guys is she knows it and tries to stand up for others without her recourses. That causes backlashes that she has to experience because there are people above her that use their resources against her i.e. cancel culture from the right.
one of the movies who could deserves a second.
This was actually the second cover of that song almost 40 years after original release.
I'm from Kentucky and this is our song!!! LOL!!
Dan Tyminski really sang it well!
This was awesome love this movie

I want to see Clooney, Turturro and Nelson sing for a benefit or something.
Nelson can really sing... Clooney & Turturro? Probably not.
Love this movie..it’s absolutely brilliant!😊

I Still can’t believe Mr. Clooney is as talented as he is in this film. Got palmade?

Charles Durning at 4:09! 😂😂😂
My God, that singer, where did they find him?
On a crossroad, he sold his soul to the devil.
