To anyone complaining saying he's playing the banjo the wrong way, Jimi Hendrix played guitar the wrong way. He didn't know scales or chord progressions, he just knew what sounded good. Hell he even used a violin bow to play it once or twice. So stop bitching. The best at what they do often do it unconventionally.
Long as it sounds good, there IS no wrong way. Just play what your mind and heart and talent call for. This guy playing that 5-string with a guitar pick is actually pure genius. I am a banjo player myself and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
+Al Scarbrough any clue how he's got that 'jo tuned?
Spyder Webb From what I can tell, he's definitely got it tuned a key lower than what it normally would be. The truncated G string I don't see him plucking any so that string is out of the playing, so the main four strings are what he is using. The longer G string is definitely tuned to a lower key and the rest are the same. It shows this guy is a genius when it comes to tweaking it to just what he wants and needs. It also shows he has spent a lot of time tinkering and figuring out those tweaks and derivations from the normal. He is incredibly talented with that 'jo and it would be very interesting to just sit down and have him show me a thing or two. His skill level is MUCH above mine.
+Al Scarbrough Yep! His banjo skill level = Jedi
+MrNidogg actually this song is pretty easy to learn it is all on the b string and constantly repeats you could learn it in about a week not including hammer ons and pull offs
“The sound of the drums,” *Accordion noises intensify*
I love this
finland old song.lauri ankerman vapauden kaiho and ievan polkka
Same as the harmonica in The Piano Man lol
Still one of the greatest videos on CZcams.
F**k"in awesome! Turning an original classic upside down, reinventing it, and absolutely knocking it out of the park...... amazing guys
Good stuff! But then I realized this video was shot in ONE TAKE -- no editing. That's when I realized these guys are REALLY good. No fancy 32-track, autotune, computer effects laden video. Just plain old fashion ass kicking music.
+Jimmie Robinson ...and they sound so damn _tight_. They know what they're doing, and they're doing it good.
never caught that! you are absolutely right, man.
and not even in their native language!
brought on point. that's asskicking good music.
how it should be #fuckthisshitnowadays
+Jimmie Robinson GOOD GOLLY!! THEY MADE AC/DC squeal LIKE A PIG!!!!
The dude is shredding that fucking banjo like an absolute madman
Amen!
Not to mention the rest of the instruments.
Give em a couple bucks.
ManCave .Productions
Best comment EVER!
Talk about genetic deficiencies... :D
Would have never thought those two words belonged in the same sentence... that is banjo & shredding... fucking and madman, of course, are a given!
Talent is where you find it, not what the media tells you.
I'm definetly robbing your comment, so true ❤❤❤
As a lifelong fan of AC/DC , this is STILL one of the best covers EVER!!!
I can't stand their vocalist, so that makes this THE BEST VERSION EVER for me.
Made in Scotland from Girders !
There's a band called AC/DC doing a cover of this. It's pretty good
No whooshed? Good, just making sure.
ok that was a good one
Australian band AC/DC own this song... this band just attempted to do a poor copy of the song..which they did
@@pegasusgalaxy68
/wooosh
Never really liked them. I think that is a poor cover... :P
"Let's start a band"
"I have an anvil and spoons"
"Done"
and it rolls hard.
🤣🤣🤣
Don’t forget the banjo
A mower too!
Spoons are great!
That Banjo Player Makes That Instrument Sing On Its Own. Y'all Are Awesome ❤
Real deal Mr McGill those guys are slicker than a baloney sandwich with mayonnaise in hot weather. And yes that fellow makes the banjo strings sing He's the Hendrix of bluegill covers of rock and I'm of my other favorite banjo pickers who is a artist herself say he does thing with a banjo she can't touch her name is Mary Ann but everyone else knows her as Mean Mary and her fast banjo. I love the bass player also the way he'll change between numbers from gut to bull bass shows how versatile he is. Hell their all talented and I'd love to get asked to set down and jam for a bit.
9 years passed since this uploaded here and only now I've discovered 😢 Can write here a billions of nice words but I think only saying this will be enough; this is what exactly music means..Best sounds in harmony giving you the utter pleasure possible for the brain and soul..Thanks guys..
"a rock solo would sound awful on accordion"
"hold my tractor"
HA HA HA HA HA HA Hold my Tractor LMFAO Dude you made my day hahaha
Dude that is gold, off work today due to feeling shit and that's made me laugh and feel a shit tonne better.

I'm an American Hillbilly and these Fins nailed it. Well done gentlemen.
Suomalaiset juntit lol
As a Hillbilly as well, I agree@@rasmuskorhonen748
I'm an Aussie and this all the perfect blend 🤘🙏
It's not about where you where born or even raised that kinda music is strictly from the soul. And evidently those guys have all got a extra 1 or 2 .
I’m Chilean and I actually thought they were born and raised Southerners the first time I saw this video 😂
I new these guys were gonna rock it when the accordion player, possibly drunk, showed up late on a field mower, and the banjo player started strumming. Wonderful cover.
Did he show up late or as planned by the band?
This is absolutely the best COVER of a song Ive ever heard!!! These guys KICK ASS!!!!
Teacher: What Instrument do you play?
Me: The Anvil
Teacher: and what about you?
me: tongs
Teacher: Do you at least play an instrument?
Me: Yeah kinda
Teacher: What do you do?
Me: I play the spoons
It this situation it would just be sorted under "percussion"
My SporK
I play an antique hand mixer sometimes...
I clicked on this video, not knowing what to expect. Opening scene: a Massey Ferguson, a man comes in on a Stiga lawnmover. I start fearing for the worst. Someone starts playing the banjo - superbly. The singer strikes an anvil. I start tapping my feel. I like where it's going. The accordion comes on. I'm grinning and nodding my head. So great!
exactly my thoughts friend haha
IamMagPie thanks for the play by play 🙄
IamMagPie this aint music its just shit
IamMagPie as I was reading your comment I started doing it all too
really great!
As a bluegrass player from 1969 till 2003,i have to say these guys are the bomb!!!!!AC/DC would give this their stamp of approval.
Hope so !
What you have is the purest form of Music. Something we did not realize we missed till now.
"So what do you do in the band?"
"I play the anvil."
“I’m on the spoons”!
Ya that’s funny how they came up with it😂
Dibs on the lawnmower.

Plot twist..the anvil played the whole squad 😅
When a dude with an accordion rolls up on a lawnmower, you know shit is about to get real!
Damn right👍👍

Totally serious stuff 'bout to come down ❤👀
especialy when he has a hat with what looks like a giant fur penis
This Aussie thinks this is one of the best covers of this song ever.
They add their own inimitable style and that just makes it perfect.
The more I see of the Finns, the more I like them.
I can’t imagine Brian Johnson ever saying, “And this is the part where the Accordion comes in”, but it’s brilliant! 🤘🏻😁👍🏻
7 years later and it’s not getting old!
No doubt man!!!!
oj tak tatuśku
8 years too ;)
It’s fu*kin class 😁👌🏻
8 yrs, now still good. lol love this.
Dadgummit man. That bass player and banjo player are absolutely killing it.
Yes! They are! I play 5-string banjo and I am blown away by this guy. /bows before the guy and his banjo while saying 'I'm not worthy' LOL
+9milnoob Amen bro :D
ja ja ja ja ja ja ja muy buena
+9milnoob And add that accordion solo at 2:36 to that, amazing!
and the spoons
As a dark-skinned American, I became a Hippie in the 70s; but I fell in love with Bluegrass while locked up in the 90s, unable to get a clear reception on a AM radio. It started on Sunday: good preaching, good gospel music... but apart from the normal music, they were jammin' with a lot of RNB, HipHop and Rock! I was blown away with the sound, as well as with the music itself. I was like... 'what have I been missing...' and claimed to be a musician. Ya'll need to get into Bluegrass, baby! Peace
I can visualize your writing like a scene of some movie😁
Every now and then I need to hear this version...still great
This is insane, a banjo, accordion, mandolin to play this song. What an amazing performance. Great talent and long live AC DC.
Eric Miranda Don't forget their bull fiddle and spoons
This is not accordion. This is Russian bayan
Nice to know, another alias of this instrument.
And don't forget the anvil!
Don't forget the anvil
that anvil tho !!!!!! ding ding lol LOVE IT !!!!
They probably use an electric anvil on tour. Much more portable.
Hahahahhaha probally

I too am just amazed by this band and this song! I live in Rural Southern Virginia in the United States and when this is played at local festivals/dances everyone just stops and starts dancing! Thank you so much!
Holy crap….love it! I’m a longtime NYC musician who moved to the surrounding Nashville area and I’ve seen some amazing players.
This drummer has otherworldish sense of timing.Amazing
good musical sense
Yeah his talent on the spoons is incredible

The joys of music, especially if blessed with perfect pitch/ timing etc
You mean the guy playing te spoons?
I come from Bum Fukk Middle of Nowhere Broken Hill, Australia, mining giant BHP homeland and there has never been a stronger current of AC/DC running through our veins thanks to you boys. What a breath of fresh air this is to our souls. Thankyou from the bottom of our pit and hearts.

Nice comment brother😂👌
Drinking moonshine rn 😂😂
Darn tootin rootin
There is something about the one guy riding in on the lawnmower for the intro that seems especially appropriate: the tone of the running engine and sound of the engine cut-off perfectly fit the video/song, sonically.
I live in the country and it’s an everyday sight to see someone driving a lawnmower down the road, mainly the ones with multiple DWIs. Also it’s an Amish area so buggies and tractors. Great place to live.
Me gurta la música
'Course
Intro favorite part!
Had to feed the live stock and was running late in my mind😎 I hope this reaches you and those you love in great health and happiness
Это здорово, вы большие молодцы, а без ложного стеснения просто красавцы.
Fellow Finn here. They are jamming!!!
"So how do you plan to do the solo."
"Well I have my accordion."
This is the greatest cover ever made.
THIS IS DA BEST! Been listening to it for years & I just adore this band!!!!!!!!
The best cover on youtube? Yes, yes it is.

And the anvil.

James Tessman I play the spoons and the drums
I play with myself....Guitar! that is! I have no band. You for surely didn't think I meant!?...Anyhow....These guys sounded great. This is a very creative alternative to bluegrass. And that's coming from a Kentuckian that knows bluegrass.
Iam anvil worker xD
Soy de Colombia y amé está interpretación, muy buen trabajo 🔥
Sorry guys, AC/DC won't be able to come play.

I am impressed. They both stayed true to the original, and yet made it their own at the same time. Excellent sound, well done.

That's gotta be one of the hardest working banjo players I've ever seen.
I KNOW RIGHT??
Dude on the upright bass is no slouch either. 👍
As an ex-Scruggs-style banjo picker (ex, due to arthritis), I can verify that flat-picking a banjo that well and that fast is seriously hard.
Fingers flying on the banjo ! YES!
He can deff cut a shine 😮😊
A great rendition of an Australian classic.
God bless America.
Why America?
I LOVE these guys! ❤
Making rhythm with the spoons. Epic. The sound of the banjo is really awesome

My dad and I never really could connect, but I'll never forget being in the car with him once when AC/DC came on and I started singing just like Brian Johnson, which isn't easy but I guess I had a talent for it and my dad said "you sound just like him. That was pretty good". which is like really high praise for him.
Anyway, nice cover.
« We have AC/DC at home » THIS IS SO GOOD I LOVE IT
Cannot believe I am 8 years late to this. Absolutely incredible. Idk what blows my mind more, the very existence of this cover or just how damn good it is
