#warhammer40k #miniatures #gamesworkshop - Jak na to + styl
One of these days we're going to get a 30 minute video that is only the intro. He'll stare at us unblinking for the full duration after that "How-..."
I'd watch it anyways.
I can't wait for that day
I will wait
Probably in april
Hold the stare for the duration it’s very immersive
Jay: "They're not the Squats. Don't call them Squats. They're the League of Votan."
Also Jay: "That's everything. That's everything for the Squats. I like it. I like the Squats."
I just finished a soul-sucking shift at work. But with A bowl of pasta, a sneaky espresso and some Eons of Battle I got myself feeling right back into creative mode again. You're the man, keep up the good work.
same bro 👊
Not the kind of bowl I use for creativity
@@janeblogs324 you smokin that Parmasean? Like Hunter Biden ?
I love how the squat mage is using rocks to make himself taller like wtf 🤣🤣
TACTICAL. ROCKS.
3:20 What they didn't show is that the first Ogre did nail the antlers to his head.
Unfortunately, that killed him.
So this Ogre decided it might be a better idea to just strap them to his head.
Pretty sure these Ogroids are new. You might be thinking of the terrible looking Bullgors which is in a 3-pack
The Ogroids are new, and the Bullgors are indeed terible. Beasts desperately needs some new models when their book finally drops.
He's right, though. The new Ogroids look somewhat outdated. Stiff and weird anatomy. The Warcry solo model looks way better I think.
They are 100% new models. That's why GW gave us a better look at them after they first leaked a few months back.
I was thinking that Ogres having Sabretooth Tigers as units would be super cool and then I looked and they are already done. Maybe I should pay more attention to AOS.
They should have done a halftrack for the Votan "Landfortress"
I've said it once, I'll say it again: It should've been a building on wheels, reminiscent of the Epic model.
I honestly thought they’d at least have treads on the front side of the land fortress
@@rutgaurxi7314 I agree, the new squats look god awful lol. I would have loved if they looked more ancient and boxy. They looks like fucking primaris, they are boring as fuck lol.
I actually dig that they are just pure pulp sci-fi in the infinity style; since "gothic, traditional and basic af" is generally the domain of humanity. To have yet another "ancient and boxy" faction would basically make them short humans.
The fact that they are all clones, drive around in uber luna buggies and dress like bulky infinity models makes them really distinctive when compared against boxy humanity, yet keeps a distinctive step away from the oriental vibes we get off the Tau.
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 True, I guess... Though if they wanted to make them truly distinct they should have given them their choppers and leather jackets back!
This is a fun review! Very cool to hear that you have a welding background. I've been trying to find more time to get to the metal shop myself for my larger sculpting work this past year.
IMO: putting threads or much bigger wheels on the Land Fortress would make it look sillier. The tires should have been much wider to give it a more stable-looking stance.
Think I'll just be using the Boromite Hauler kit from Gates of Antares instead of the GW kit. It's a good match aesthetically, a grav vehicle fits with the new trikes, adding a few weapons is a trivial job, and it's most likely going to be quite a bit cheaper - if the fortress comes in under $112 I'll be surprised.
@@richmcgee434 I had never heard of that so I had to look it up - that looks sweet and sounds like a good idea!
But if you don't mind me asking; do you have similar suggestion for the tiny transport aka the RC-Car? It would look rather odd with the smallest, and biggest, vechiles on anti-Grav and the medium one on wheels...
@@liamholt5623 There's probably something out there but nothing springs to mind. Even the Hauler may be too small for a good fortress proxy - although i suppose if it turns out the fortress is much too large, I guess the Hauler could become a grav-Sagitaur.
If you wanted to go tracked instead, Mantic's Forgefathers have some vehicles that might work for a Sagitaur, and maybe you could kitbash something bigger out of a couple of them for a fortress. They are relatively cheap, although the aestheic is a bit more obviously military and less "weird moon buggy" than the GW stuff.
The Votann vehicles are likely to get hit hard with nerfs anyway, so investing heavily in them (or proxies just for them) might not be a great plan. The fortress is pretty clearly too good for its points even in the current antitank-heavy meta, and the Sagitaurs are even more crazy when you compare them to what the same points get you out of a Razorback.
@@richmcgee434 I totally agree with you in that the nerf-bat is going to hit them hard.
But I also can't help my self in thinking that when IG finally gets their codex, they will be almost like a natural counter to the LoV - absolute mad amounts of ap0 fire or a large variaty of long ranged high ap fire...
I still love how you have the Starship Troopers Starter Box on the shelf behind you.
I love how negative you are about GW in every title but how much of a fan you are in the video 😂
The space dwarf Gandalf is the only LoV kit that appeals to me. He could make a decent D&D character kitbash.
"Do you call it a mohawk if it's on your back?" I believe we call those "Manes". 😋
EonsOfBattle, I need your help, some of my space marines have seam lines on the sides of the torso where the chest and back are pushed together should I fill those in or leave them, and 2 have a gap there there neck pieces are supposed to sit flat together, what do you do for your miniatures for such things, I really need your help on this one and your the best person I could think of for this situation.
The new Ferrus Manus model is just a head on Horus' shelf.
Did you film the painting of your old dominion? I've just picked up the box! And would love to see it done.
Kill team's rules are great for home brewing scenarios, you can take the space ship rules and apply them to 'building to building' fighting or fighting through a prison complex. You could even run two games congruently, one inside, one outside. You can even have multiple players running multiple games on one massive narrative driven battle field.
So you're saying the wheels on the land fortress are, squat?
I really hope you paint some guardsmen, I would love to follow it to paint mine too
"The last argument of Kings". Is an analogy for warfare, being the last setup for rulers to take and the ultimate expression of strength.
I've been throwing this hot take up everywhere, but I would love if they made the ruined faceless desecrated statues of the 2nd and 11th. Just enough to give a ton of questions, but not enough to give anything away.
ALSO: I want Ferrus Manus leading the Legion of the Damned.
Hey, I was very surprised to hear that J did welding certifications. I am a TIG welder, making playground structures. So WoopWoop for welding.
I remember seeing a diorama of the siege of the Emperor's palace with Jaghatai Khan "riding" a Rhino charging the World Eaters. That would be funny to see again :)
Does Jay support 3D printing? Can he do an honest review of 3D prints vs GW models?
Yes, he does support 3D printing.
Honest review?
Not likely because models range from shit to REALLY great quality models that are pretty spot on to GW. Your printer dictates that more than any other physical factor. Of course your files are equally important. Finding files that give you super detail isn't super hard. But great files and shit printer still yields shit models. Great files and expensive printer yields fantastic models in a semi reasonable time. So the issue is too many different 3d printers to give you a decent review.
I'm not big into 3d Printing because the amount of time it would take to produce a full army. Time can't be regenerated and money can be. I'll pay for the convenience. But I know people that enjoy the hobby that is 3d printing onto itself.
It's all good Josh Carlos has you covered already :D
3d print vs gw is not a thing dude. You have 1 to 1 stls for some models, but usually that's not the case.
3d printing is mostly just a way to spice up your army with unique stuff
He and his friends make their own 3d printable models and he quite often features them in his videos allthough what is there to say in such a video? "Yeah talented artists make great models and gw is more expensive"?
@@clamus68 once youve got your printer dialed in ... "time" is of no consequence. You set it and forget it. Start your print and go to work or what ever come back and boom its all done ready for cleaning and curing. 4k printers are very affordable and will produce amazing quality. You go 8k like Im about too and you have the last printer youll ever need. The thing to realize with "super detailed" minis is "can you even paint it well". This isnt me being a jerk but a dose of reality. It really doesnt matter how detailed something is. If you cant paint it no one will ever see it anyway. One of the many convos going on in the 3d art community at the moment is "too much detail/unpaintable detail". You can literally model beard stubble or even pores on skin but this isnt paintable detail as the paint itself will fill it in and the finish will be muddeled. Better to paint on that "idea" of stubble for example rather than painting sculpted stubble. Saying all that to say this ... most people can not paint those super detailed minis to a good standard anyway so why all the fuss ?
"Who's the Iron Hands guy..."
Oh, you mean Iron McHandsy?
It’s funny because they said that you can still use Artillery Barrage, it’s just the Imperial Navy firing on the ship you’re in…but wouldn’t that depressurize the ship?
Actually looking at the Votan tank, I really love the idea of making it a half track desighn, track half in the front, then the rear is wheels
You can try a tightly packed jungle board for a way to cut down visibility during a game also.
Speaking of historicals have you ever come across Chain of Command? Not only does it have an excellent abbreviation but it is a jolly system for WW2 combat. You can play it with a few small squads, some might call it a skirmish game. Just saying... ;-)
You should check out the skirmish version of Conquest, First Blood. Also, would love to see Conquest become regular content. It is a wonderful game.
The new kill team makes me nervous. I've heard that there won't be new rules for armies but rather the terrain. I also heard that they are going to come out with a lot of new rules laden terrain in specific boxes. I don't want it to turn into a money funnel like Underworlds.
You can still play with octarius terrain and rules, or even use close combat rules with octarius terrain.
For you information, Horus the Warmaster and Horus Ascended have diffrent rules in 30k. Horus Ascended is much stronger and is intended to duel the Emperor, ones Big E gets his rules.
Love the chain-greatsword on the new berzerkers! Feel like the box art looks too clean; gonna hit em with some corrosion
I felt the same about historicals and then I had a go at Bolt Action. Now all GW rule systems suck... Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing for me.
This video doesn’t need a clickbait title. They’re always good anyway and that kind of stuff is ick
What if it makes Eons of Battle more income thus meaning they are rewarded more for making the content?
Hey Jay! Don't forget, the new Battletome comes with the Slaves to Darkness box. ;)
I think they're really betting on people picking it up for the Daemon Prince...
That's going to annoy a lot of people. I hope the standalone Prince isn't too far off.
The phrase "The last argument of Kings" is the English translation of the Latin text "Ultima Ratio Regum" that King Louis XIV of France had inscribed upon his army's cannons. The implication being that if all other arguments fail, then the King's guns will settle the debate.
Games Workshop did at least ruin the day for _a lot_ of scalpers with the re-release of the Elucidian Starstriders!
Can you imagen? Being the chump that payed those insane prices for a set on ebay and next day see it re-released? Ouch
Oh man I wanted to see that Dwarf you painted!
Yo! Jays a trained welder. That’s cool mate :) I’ve been doing it years now and even had a chance to take models in to paint when the shifts have been slow 😏
Slaves *DO* have a starter box! It's probably the best one! All new sculpts all the way through, it's awesome!
I think this latest S2D 'starter' proposal might form part of a '2 player starter' for the whole game!
Shame, anybody wanna go halfsies?
They are all pushfit models in the Start Collecting box though, which is a bit of a negative. Based on the image leaks, both the Warriors and Knights are getting full multi-part kits with the new book, so it will be interesting to see what happens with the Start Collecting models. Hopefully they stay around a bit.
I love the Ogroids as a chaos version of the ogres. The sorcerer and gladiator are cool and maybe, just maybe, we get a full Ogroid range in the future. And I'll get them once the prices are normalised again.
Prices normalised? You expecting a price drop or something? Good joke.
@@ArynCrinn Hoping, more or less. They'd probably dissolve the company before going down in prices, but I have so much choice in models from other companies, I'll just get them.
17:40 You are thinking of Ferrus Manus during his duel with Fulgrim
I really don't get why people like the floating robots, they look like a derpy conversion, the silhouette makes it look like it's standing on one leg, the leather harnesses make them look like they're ill-designed for tasks, the position of the head on the flying model makes it seem like it can't see below itself, the position of the repulsion units on the "shoulders" make it like like it'd be utterly unstable, the arms out front make it look like it wants to tip forward. Not a fan.
The Taghamata Drone had a better look to it (or even the Tau drones), a little generic sure, but these squats are a little generic, and there's a bit of a 60s fallout vibe it's not quite reaching that would have been a better direction for them imo.
I'd be tempted to replace the floaters for something else and convert/use the Ironhead Squat Prospectors Gang where sensible.
(Thought: surely along with stuff we haven't seen, we'd see a few of the same designs as the imperials in these squats, since the squats are using STLs, I wonder if Squats will be able to use the admech/imp robots and tanks one day)
The ogroids are a new kit... you're thinking of the old minotaurs for the beastmen
Ohh, I've seen some of those painted really nicely, they're not too bad with a decent pj!
That conquest ork looking a bit like the hulk, we know you jay, we've found you.
That mage dwarf is Radagast the Brown
I thought those Ogroids were new models, they're not on the webstore in any case - a rerelease then?
About that Kill Team: Into the Dark, the main problem is that the play gets even more dependent on specific terrain. Not just any terrain you can put on your table, but the specific doors, walls, terminals etc. And that´s another NOPE for me.
Those ‘ogroids’ might actually be new Minotaur minis for beasts of chaos?
the last argument of kings - it refers to violence (cannon fire if i remember correctly)
Do you think the land fortress vehicle would be a good conversion for the gene stealer cults ?
Love your channel and thanks for the vids 💯
Kill team will be sooo easier to explain with these rules, i can see already some 40k players interested, and i'm so happy to play again the first factions of the game now that the méta has been shaked !
5:29 big Indiana Jones Temple of Doom vibes. I can hear him go Kali ma Shakti deh!
The iron hands primarch was Ferrus Manus, which straight up translates to “Hands of Metal”…yeah, GW aren’t exactly subtle with their character names.
Wouldn't it be closer to "Iron Man"
>squat wizard painted brown
>this guy is just Gandalf the Grey
Aight
Actually, calling them "votann" is technically incorrect as the votann are the AI cores. So squats is still right (if excluding "kin")
Votaan? Surely you mean sci-fi dwarves.
I would prefer to see a pre-hersey Horus model, the black is cool and all, but he was a Luna Wolf for hundreds of years, SoH green only lasted like 1 year and then he was Black Legion for maybe even less time than that before he died
With Kill Team, with such small teams, I don't understand why the maps didn't already represent CQC style, the reason I want Into the Dark is because it's HEAVY CQC, and it looks like all 4 of the next boxes will be CQC focused
wait how do you get two gargants from the box? I haven't heard anything like that and I would love to see how you do that! :D
You don't, unless you can find STLs for all the missing parts you'd need, or sculpt your own by hand.
Listen to 1:48 onwards again.
I hope that GW didn’t ruin it, because I lone tuning my imperial guard kill team, and I lived that video you made Jay, and hope to see more like it!
Flames and meltas becoming awsome? Sisters of Battle meta!?
Lets goooo!
The squat vehicle can be painted as the turtle van and i will not accept any other paintjob lol
I really like the squat's Turtle Party Wagon... I wonder if there's a pizza oven inside?
I just hope the chosen champion can still take the big claw like the old metal one
Yeah. You can create the new Ferrus Manis by just magnetising the head.
I'm waiting for the souldrinkers omnibus. i was digging into 40k and thought to myself what i had not seen on the local scene.
Not much really, everyone plays things i know Jack about. But marines that i know... a little. Yellow marines, red marines, black marines... A Lot of them, blue, whatever.
So, no purple? Then im going for purple marines! Also it reminds me of the terran Jim raynor finds in the original starcraft campaign. So began searching everywhere for every purple space marine Chapter and went with what sounded the coolest considering i was brand spanking new. The renegade Chapter of the souldrinkers. It was the first Chapter i heard of that were not imperium after some circumstances. It was a really cool concept to me, since i saw the current state of the imperium as flawed and a husk of it former self that had become what it sought to destroy.
The souldrinkers saw that too, and decided to do something about it. And in their eyes, they are loyal to the Emperor, but not to his current imperium.
GW giants should do pull ups and get in decent shapes, plus I'll give them the regular number of fingers.
I’m pretty happy with the Leagues, they have a refreshing rugged sci-fi look with just enough ornamentation for them to be suitably 40k. I can’t wait to see what’s next for them… fingers crossed for some sort of dwarf metal gear walker
Have you made a retro Rogue Trader force? I wanna see it! Old minis!
Damn it, now I can't procrastinate on getting the OG Morty and Maggy
The changes in KT would be great if I didn't have to buy new boxes to build all the flamers and meltas I didn't the first time and now I have a bunch of useless snipers and heavy weapons. They should at least give enough models to build every option.
The Votann verhicle should be a halftrack
Let's just hope they remake Vulkan just as 10e drops so there's an excuse to put him back into 40k lol
i am excited for the new Slaves to Darkness release! i plan on picking it up along with Be'lakor
Officially diving in to kill team. What box should I start with?
Choose the box with terrain and factions you like the most.
"The last argument of kings" comes from Louis XIV, who ordered to have those words cast on every cannons of his armies. So basically if reason won't convince you, maybe getting blasted into small pieces will.
I love that in ogre model there is some human fleshness -comparing to old editions of ogres
I love making models in warhammer ( not just nurgle ) a bit more plump and obese. Make them a bit more character. Cheers, pax_acrylica
The Grymnir isn't Gandalf but straight up Odin: One eyed, old hooded dude with 2 raven bots in attendance! Also his staff is reminiscend enough of a spear.
The thing with Kill Team is, that the "list building" system (roster of up to 20 guys, equipment and Team selection handled after everything else is determined) really is made with short term adjustment in mind. Til this point that didn't really get used, most people defaulting to a standard loadout. No Into the Dark promises to really shake it up and have you prep for many situations. Imho that's a good thing, IF they start to run mixed tournaments.
The Squats do look kinda Mass Effect-y don't they
I know you are all about kill team but do you plan on doing anything on Warcry? The new Heart of Ghur just came with new rules and my lgs is doing warcry as their first warhammer events. Just didn't know if the channel had any interest in it
15:30 I like the alternate spacey look but that’s why I play tau
Kill team turn down for what looks amazing! With the new laying out provides so many new scenarios!! I’m pumped!! But my wallet is not haha!! FLGS is the way to go! Great video as always! Thanks gents!!
KT is the best thing that GW has going, and they best thing they've put out (as a game) in the last 15 years.
Lorgar needs a remaster along with GMan because they are getting resale because they are too small
Everything in the slaves to darkness set Is new there's no splitting of boxes
I was a bit disappointed with the Horus Heresy previews. I was really looking forward to some more resin to plastic kits, but I must admit the new Horus model is pretty cool.
Official petition to call back hair Mohawks “spine tines”
They’re called manes ffs
Not all manes are Mohawks just like not all haircuts are mullets.
What is the best way to do with models you painted that have no connection to an army you are using. Are you two going evaluate 3D printers and software used to make STL files?
Historicals RULE.
Yeah the mole weapon should have had regular league troopers with it
Not a massive fan of the Votann generally but I shall be picking up Thor and Odin. Read; Einhyr Champion and Grimnyr.
I play CLAK. What's Conquest?
The Ogroids are new models, they're not old ones. They have other Ogroid models but these are the foot soldiers.
jesus, one of these boxes is like $300 lol, that is the price of a pretty good RC car or a perfect grade Gundam model....
I love Eons!
I think they'll make jajatai on bike and headless ferrus
The only thing I don't like is they changed the board size. 30x22 to 28x24. My home made boards are useless with this ruleset all because of a 2" discrepancy.
Can’t take Squats from me. They are Squats.
