If I'm being honest, I was looking through old Mayweather fights and noticed something. Is it just me or does it seem Floyd was going easy on Connor? Not once did Floyd put up his usual Philly Shell stance and instead went to a more generic stance. If you take this and compare it to his fight against Canelo, you could tell the difference in styles.
2 options
1.He knew that Conor studied his style so therefore he changed it to surprise him.
2. Is because money, not a real fight. Just marketing.

He fought Conor with no respect, lead right hands, no jabs, no defense, just walking into his punches, he played with him like a cat with a mouse and then took him out in the deepwater and drowned him.
How Connor controlled he’s instinct in this fight not whip a kick or elbow etc is absolutely mind blowing. And lasted 10 rounds with Mayweather nothing but respect for him 💯

Not sure how long Conner trained for this, but he fought the best and did better than most.
This convinces me conor is the far superior fighter, i mean who knows for sure but i believe itd be a large swing if mayweather stepped into his domain. Equally so, as well as conor did if he had been boxing the whole time instead of an mma career i know its clear he would have bagged it easily. More time training in boxing period may have allowed him to capitalize more on when floyd was really hurt from the body shot to close the match or at least get a knockdown

This fight will always carry a level of nostalgia for me. I’m from Houston, TX. This was the day before Hurricane Harvey. I was at my homies crib watching the fight and ended up spending the night because the weather was so bad. I woke up the next morning and saw a boat maneuvering by the apartment complex. We were stuck for almost a week. Crazy times.

@@merrillmohan2484 there is 100% of an offensive element of boxing in MMA. On the flip side, there is only 1% of an offensive element of MMA in boxing. Meaning that a boxer has to face more attack possibilities in MMA than in boxing. However, when it’s the other way around, MMA to boxing, one would think a MMA fighter would do much better since he or she has faced all of the offensive elements of their sport. So really it’s not a reasonable comparison. And it should be no surprise that a MMA fighter could at the very least stand in the ring with a boxer and at least go for it for many rounds. As fans we should look at these things objectively.
It appears that way but it’s not necessarily true. If they would have boxed with mma gloves on I think you would have seen a bit of a difference. There are some sloppy boxers and they’re are some clean MMA fighters.

Connor worked good angles. Had an effective jab. Landed multiple counter uppercuts. Made Floyd miss (alot), and stayed in the pocket. Fucking unreal.
He had a good plan of medium load punches to last rounds. He just threw way to many. Floyd saw it and started walking forward wearing him out. It was cool to see Conor learning from Floyd as they went. He started rolling punches off the shoulder in round 8

Mayweather's experience can truly be seen. He didn't let McGregor settle in his feet majority of the bout, especially after the first few rounds.

Everyone seems to humble Connor the same way Floyd, tired him out and was able to Target and select his shots through that continuous fatigue the guy's that beat him always dictate the pace, same as khabib just in a different arena, it doesn't seem like the Martial arts is lacking it's the defense and the pace, like when he used to check ranges.

Ehh I understand the health reasons but it’s also boxing. People have been knocked out cold then have gotten up in the 10 seconds multiple times and it’s continued. Then they have even won. I will never forget this fight. Impressive performance from Conor McGregor, though he lost, it was respectable considering he was fighting Floyd Mayweather, one of the best figures in boxing
It seems like MMA fighters get so used to being able to knock someone out with a glance that they forget how much power you need to put into a punch in boxing to knock someone out. Always the same thing, lots of small hits that in MMA would take them down but here doesn't do anything.
Looking at it now, I just realised how fucking relaxed and effortless was Mayweather. It looks like he is just sparring while Conor look like his life is on the line.

considering his brutal leg injury and everything else he's probably put his body through in MMA, throwing his hat into some sort of boxing career might not be the bad move at this point. I think he held his own in this fight, especially considering who he was up against. That is until the last round or two when he got winded and Mayweather was just toying with him like a cat with a mouse. Mayweather is a beast. One of the best of all time for sure.

Mayweather wasn’t trying at all. If you go to a decent boxing gym if the coach is good and is sparring you he will literally let you hit him like mayweather was getting hit by Connor and the minute you start to show you are gassed they turn the volume up and actually start trying. I’ve seen it so many times that’s what it looks like Mayweather did.
Mayweather almost got dropped with a body shot and faked like it was a low blow. Of course he is a lot better than Conor but don’t be silly he was in trouble in this fight.

Floyd didn’t even utilize his defense in this fight. He was literally walking down Mcgregor and staying in the middle with his guard up the whole time.
40 year old who hadn't fought in 2 years, walking down a guy a couple weight divisions larger. That is boxing vs MMA power and defence for you.
This fight killed Connors stance and payed him enough to never do a thing again. Mayweather is so amazing how hes able to check every shot with the back of his head!

Mcgregor lasting 10 rounds is insane given its his first pro boxing match. He really fought well and if he had the stamina til 12 round its definitely a close fight

I noticed there were instances where Connor wanted to throw some kicks and takedowns given his background. Must be weird for him to stick with fists and having to stay grounded.
I think the biggest shocker for me and the casual MMA fan, was how well Mayweather could take a punch. He took some hard hitting MMA pro punches in the early rounds when Connor was fresh and he kept coming. Mayweather has been hit by the best in the business so I guess it should not have been such a shock.

First few rounds show how dominant an MMA fighter would be outside of the ring
Not being an actual boxer a defeat for Conor was to be expected, especially against an excellent boxer. But he did remarkably well, his technique wasn’t bad at all and his defense was rather OK. It became apparent though that he’s not used to the timeframe of a boxing match by starting out very energetically and running out of steam later on.
i always said Conor looked slow in this fight. And my opinion stands. Anyone who watched Conor from the beginning knows what i mean. He didn't throw 1 power punch. The bodyshot in the 8th hurt Floyd tho.
