I'm a Spurs fan and if Arsenal don't win the league I can't even gloat, I'm just so utterly ashamed of my club, what I would give for us too even break the 80 point barrier nevermind 90 potentially, anyone who gets anywhere close to Manchester City at this point in time deserves massive respect because they've owned this league for over a decade, I was nothing but impressed by today's performance, I won't say good luck for obvious reasons but I will say, this Arsenal team has given the fans a lot to proud of, however the season ends for them, they can hold their head up high, they are the real champions in my mind, they've worked for it, it hasn't all been bought, perhaps that's an unfair comment but it's difficult to see Manchester City as anything other than a plastic club.

maybe our season perhaps gives some hope for the rest of the pl. Like you said, hard work, within ffp, etc. and still got close. City are so, so difficult to beat to the title. The standards of consistency & ability required are crazy. I have a lot of respect for what Liverpool have done and been trying to do for the last 5/6 years.... after this season, seeing first hand. A big difference for us is our owners: they have finally got their act together, they are sole owners now and are focused on making arsenal a competitive club again. Compare that to Levy... that's your biggest problem.

I recently re-watched a few Champions League matches of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Man U, and Chelsea vs. Liverpool from the 2000s. Steven Gerrard was the best player on the pitch and completely controlled the game. He was levels above everyone else on the field. In big games, most players took some time to acclimate, Gerrard was full-sprint from the first whistle and rose above the occasion. Something rarely talked about was his ability to nullify and dominate other world class players in European football in the big games when it counted. He could win away games against The Pep Barcelona Team, score 4 on Real Madrid, come back from behind multiple times not just AC Milan in the final, and he would be at the center of it all.
We see his highlights on CZcams everywhere, but we rarely watch full-length clips of how he imposed himself on the game and completely overwhelmed the opposition's midfield going forward and in defense. He's the only reason why Liverpool always had a chance in big games. He had the passing and game control of a Scholes, finishing ability of a Lampard, could spray cross-field passes into the box like Pirlo, could easily switch to a Kante-level CDM, and he could be a Scouse Gattuso to fight back against aggressive teams. And after nicking the ball off another world-class midfielder, he would run into the box to score an amazing volley from a return pass.
I'm sorry, but Steven Gerrard had all the same fundamentals and special skills of Lampard and Scholes, but he was electric and had the power to involve and lift the entire team to overcome any in-game obstacle. He was like a madman doing anything to win and you could feel it all over the pitch - his team would feel it, the opposition had to deal with it, and many of their big wins and trophies would never have been won with any other midfielder other than Steven Gerrard. It's why he won the big games despite having less than half the quality of players Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Barcelona, RM, Munich, etc. You could put Gerrard on a National League team and he would have them promoted two season in a row through his on-field leadership alone.

Interested what positions you feel those 3/4 signings should be and how many leave while keeping the squad stable. Not familiar with your squad but you could probably remove 1 GK, a few of the players from previous regimes in def and mid, if you did buy Tierney, Maddison and a couple of others, to me I see no reason why you couldn't get top 4 next year, even if Liverpool and Chelsea wake back up.

This Arsenal team is young and could grow into a powerhouse in the years to come, however.. I've also seen other Arsenal teams have that potential but players wanted to leave.
IF Arsenal can keep players like Odegaard and players like Saka and Martinelli improve. While players like Saliba, Gabriel etc. improve and stay. They could indeed become a powerhouse.
In a perfect scenario Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zincenko, Partey, Odegaard, Martinelli, Saka and Jesus all stay and the younger players keep improving and don't have a form dip. While they manage to replace Xhaka and Partey in time and also find a solution for the leftback position. Because Zinchenko is great, but he's defensively very weak.
They also need to build their bench more. City can bench Bernardo Silva and play Mahrez. They can bench Dias and play Laporte. They can bench Foden for most of the season and you barely notice his absence. Like in this season.

The two most iconic "dig deep" moments I can remember between all three footballers wasn't from Scholes or Lampard, it's Gerrard's injury time equalising screamer in the FA Cup final against West Ham that went on to win the cup, and Gerrard's bullet header on a 3-3 comeback to send Liverpool into extra time that they won on pen kicks against AC Milan. If anything it's Scholes that would come last on that list of "dig deep" players out of the 3 of them since Lamps had many for Chelsea and England too. Scholes would normally get himself sent off with a crap tackle when "digging deep", was best left to Keane, May or Beckham.

Would love to hear a Gary Neville “podcast” about how United are in the process of throwing away Top 4. Beautiful stuff!

Gary's argument for scholes was weak tbh. He says Gerrard and lampard could never do what scholes does. Okay, and can scholes do what gerrard/lampard did? Can scholes score 177 EPL goals? Can scholes carry a mediocore team to a champions league title?

I just commented on that too without seeing your comments from earlier. I'm glad we agree as it was a nonsense from Neville to suggest that about Gerrard.

Gerrard was factually a better player than both Scholes and Lampard, I’m stunned at the comments about Gerrard from Neville but you can see where he’s coming from being a team mate of Scholes but as a neutral like myself and have to affiliation with any of the players or teams I can truly say Steven Gerrard was 100% better than them both it’s strange that it is actually up for debate 😳
