    Unfortunately for us, Traxxas is not going to lower their prices anytime soon. If anything they're going to keep increasing prices. In 2020 they made $55M, their best ever, during a pandemic. All of Horizon Hobby (including Arrma) only made $40M in 2020. Traxxas can keep charging whatever they want because people keep buying their stuff, they've been around for over 30 years and their brand name is synonymous with RCs. When people see me bashing in public they always ask "Is that a Traxxas?" because that's the only brand they know, and most people don't even know that hobby grade RCs exist. It took Traxxas 30 years to get that brand name recognition and that isn't going to change anytime soon.

      Absolutely true. In 2019,during the middle of the year, I only knew of Traxxas and went to the LHS to buy a Stampede. The LHS salesguy showed me the differences between the Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX 3s and the Stampede. He's like, the Arrma is way faster and comes with lots of things that are "options" for the Stampede, like the ESC fan. So I went with the Granite. I do have a Max V2 and an Xmaxx and that's about it. Hehe.

    Great, honest review sir. I would say that at this price this model should come with better shocks, a better servo and the TQi bluetooth module included. Traxxas are terrible for overcharging for these things and not including worthy components. Traxxas also seem to design the maximum battery dimensions to only suit their own batteries so you really have to shop around to find something special just for their trucks whereas other manufacturers (Arrma) have battery trays on their 3s models which have removable plastic spacers to allow even my 155mm HRB 3s batteris to fit without a problem. *Edit* Also as far as value goes, here in the UK I had the choice of a Traxxas Hoss at £479 or an Arrma Kraton 6s for £499 - guess which one I bought? Not the Traxxas.

    3) What was your final solution for the battery strap issue?

    5) I wonder if part of the high price is that they're subsidizing the low price of models like the original 2WD XL-5 series. If they lose a little bit of money on each of those to get people into the Traxxas family, they have to make up for it somewhere.

    I like traxxas, I have a maxx and it's good fun, but for the price, the controller should come with the link system complete. I also was interested in the hoss and still may get one just to have it in the collection, but it's expensive for what it is.

    • @tylerd4241
      @tylerd4241 Před 3 lety

      Super expensive. I just hope you don't purchase Traxxas batteries and chargers, or any electronics after they break. There are far better for much cheaper. Traxxas makes a good chassis...that's it.

    The granite isn’t competing with this. The stampede competes with the granite. This has a larger motor, premium tires, center differential...
    .
    If you throw in a 1415 motor to the granite then it will cost nearly the same... with a shitty slipper clutch.
    .
    So either traxxas should stick with the stampede or heavily upgrade it for the same price? Arrma sells the kraton for $550 but the infraction and felony for $650... that’s even more egregious. At least in this case this model has upgraded. And btw, arrma is trying to become a bigger brand so they’re selling kits at a cheaper price. BMW doesn’t need to lower their price because Kia wants in on the market and needs better brand recognition.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  Před 3 lety +1

      The Stampede was the competitor to the Granite before the Hoss, but IMO vehicles are in the same class based on 3 things: size, power, and speed. The Stampede is 10% smaller than the Hoss/Granite/MT10, it's really more of a 1/11 scale. It' only 2S capable because it self-destructs/overheats on 3S, and speed wise is quite a bit slower. The Hoss is the exact same size as the Granite, they both run on 3S all day long, and the Hoss is closer in speed to the Granite -- but it's still slower. Maybe the upgrades on the Hoss make it better than the Granite v3, I don't know, will need to get a Granite v3 to compare.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain Před 3 lety

      @@RazorRC Size, power, and speed. The Pede is pretty much the same size as the granite, doesn't need to be exact. Has the same size motor as the granite, so same power. And actually goes 5mph faster than the hoss with the same battery. They also have the same esc minus a fan, so yes the Pede is 3s.
      .
      the stampede is wider and slightly shorter in length by 8/10ths of an inch (which is 7% shorter). So the Outcast is shorter than the Kraton, does that not put them in the same class or make is somehow a 1/9th scale? No it doesn't.
      .
      The weight difference is a joke. The hoss has much heavier tires, heavier motor by 2 ounces, heavier steel spur center diff instead of slipper, esc fan, clipless body system and is a tad longer. Throw those on the stampede and it will be very close to the same weight. Everything on it chassis wise is so similar, to even suggest that they are different scale is just wrong.
      .
      The Pede IS the granite competitor. Has the same type of drivetrain, has the same size motor, same voltage. Very close in dimensions. The 1415 style 540xl motor has a rotor that is nearly the same size as a 1515 erevo motor. That's 30+% more rotor than what the BLX3660 has.

      @@KTMcaptain, bre. "premium" tires!?!? These Sledgehammers are among the worst RC tires I've ever felt in 5.5 years. The rest of your comment was too nonsensical and displays you have entirely too much ignorance to even have a factual debate."3S all day long". Come on, man! And, F this motor. AND the crappy exploding CD. And, these shocks! Arrma makes vehicles that are actually ready to run, and the feedback they receive will make next year's models just a little bit better and the same price. PS...the indestructible 6S Senton with steel everywhere was 480$. I bought an OG for 250$ and it's still stock. Or...I could have bought a Bandit for 10$ more.

    This was an awful review. Why'd you even bother. First: It does fit a 3s battery out of the box, with the stock strap. Maybe not yours but many fit, so i don't know how that could've lost it a star. Second, you didn't mention the BEST feature?! Self-righting! you know how nice it is to not have to walk over to your truck to flip it back over? That might be worth $40 right there. I don't know how it can have tons of adjustments with free phone app but your disappointed that the radio doesn't have more blinking lights? How are you saying it doesn't go fast? Did you try the included gear to raise top speed? Did you mention the lame ESC has training mode, fully waterproof. I came across this vid by accident, I don't even want to watch others. Traxxas is expensive sure, and I'll have to admit the factory shocks are awful. But just remember, you usually get what you pay for. if you cant see why, take a look at the their website.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  Před 3 lety

      Self-righting = bye-bye diffs. Even Traxxas will tell you NOT to use it. ESC is a weakness on this truck, swapping it out will improve the performance a lot even with the stock motor. Battery strap sucks, every other 3S truck can fit any size 3S battery you want, not just special small ones and overpriced Traxxas batteries.
