I worked that boat 14 years ago. Belonged to Horst Fischer then. Timor Box Western Demersal. Little trick for you. When you get swimmer crab as bycatch smash it into the next bait basket and get big Red Emporer. Bait spoils fast in the warm water so soak time can be short as 6 hours. Churn and Grind. Good luck
Cheers mate
Patrick is 100% right in what he says......
Now I just buy Austral fish. I'm really looking forward to seeing what quality you can produce!
Send me 3 Kin bins on Monday 😂
Quality is everything so we will be sending you some great product.
I started in the 80s in New Zealand fishing the Pink Snapper fishery for export to Japan so very familiar with this style of product. Looking forward to working with you guys.
Loved the vidéo and change of direction for the fishing....thankyou TK. And the captain in the kitchen......and hearing the ’hell yeah’ .... looking after your crew, your team....priceless. Cheers.
Cheers mate
This was awesome to watch. Would love more!!
New episodes coming with each trip mate
I see 1 of our trailers in the back ground at the duck pond while you were off loading, the green and white fridge van Scarcella’s Transport, we cart fish down to Sydney from Darwin
Awesome mate, hopefully catch up with you soon
Congrats TK. I hope that you have a good run mate 👍🏾
Cheers mate

You'll enjoy it mate
Great video good change
Cheers mate, just settling into the new fishery and we will have some new episodes coming each trip.
Bloody awesome TK awesome mate 👍🏽😎
Cheers mate!
good stuff, i live in Darwin, My mate many years ago worked on the similar Boat, some of the old traps had barnacles on it, scratched his leg Boy oh Boy did it get infected he was in hostipal for a long time.. all the best for the NT adventures
Cheers mate, yes I have given the crew a full safety briefing on caring for any cuts and preventing infection. It's a very serious issue out here.
I live in FNQ, I never knew there were fish trap boats I worked on 80 foot gulf prawn trawler called iron joy when I was young fella. Cheers 🍻
Yeah there's a few trap boats working from Darwin now.
Looks like a very well run operation. I grew up on boats in Alaska , I can’t imagine doing it in tropical temps though :)
It's glorious mate, shorts and singlets every day 👌
@@tkoffshorefishing yea I suppose it’s probably better, but I would melt
I worked on the western melody and the charnley back in the day
Looks back breaking TK, are you going to do a set up for removing fish from pots.
Can send a vid/pics thru of how we do it for blue cod.
Will definitely look into it mate
Hey mate, love these vidoes. Always loved fishing. What do you use as bait in the traps? Any troubke with sharks in the traps?
Cheers
We are using mackerel for bait, it's got a great high oil content.
No sharks in the traps for us yet although it does happen.
We have bronze whalers circling the boat day and night though
Hey TK could we please get the recipe? Looks delicious
Dice up your fish and soak in lime juice for a hour or so.
Drain off the excess lime juice and add diced red onion, capsicum, spring onion and tomatoes. Add a table spoon if sweet Thai chilli sauce and cover with coconut cream. Delicious
You gotta convince T.K. Kirkland to go out with you. I bet that would be a blast for everyone.
Where you have the blue ice chests for slurry used to be a cold brine tank next to it was deep freeze walk in bait freezer and port side was walk in ice chest with icemaker through roof from deck above. The old girl has changed a bit.
Doesn't it look like a heap of shit now poor boat and I'd love to know where he got the traps from
Just done our first trip on it so I don't know the history of the traps.
They are putting the freezer and icemaker back in that area shortly
I am thinking a short handled pitchfork with the ends ground down for getting the fish out of the ice bath and a T ended rod with a flattened ended hook on the other end for pulling the fish tubs across the deck
We have a rake type thing we use now.
@@tkoffshorefishing I was talking getting them out of the ice bath tubs I seen the rake type thing for getting them out of the traps. The new traps seem to be working good. Looking forward to seeing more of this
TK, are the boys on wages or percentages. Dont answer if confidential. I have nothing to do with comercial fishing so just interested. Thanks for sharing a bit of what you do👍
I’m surprised you don’t bleed the fish for superior quality.
I also run Time Zero, love it.
I wondered the same thing
TK why don't you brain spike the fish before going into the slurry? The Western Australians and Queenslanders do. Maybe see You Tube by Seaforce in NW WA and compare the colours of the fish upon landing. Just a thought. Great video as always.
You tube does not like you showing it these days. Some sitting in a office somewhere is worried it could give someone night mares lol
We will be, just getting the crew trained up
Bit easier with that box mate.
What is the weather subscription you use mate?
He says it at 5:20 ocean O premium subscription service
I am a ambassador for TimeZero Navigation Software. Fantastic weather data
No double dipping
What you are doing is good fishing and if I don’t like it I will give you my 2.4 cents. I’m subscribing to your CZcams channel and thank you for talking. I would rather listen to a person talking than endless stupid music. Excellent just Excellent from a Aitutaki Cook Islander
Cheers mate, my family will be heading to Rarotonga in August for my sons wedding. Looking forward to my first visit.
Loved trap fishing but it was ban in the United States
What were the reasons for banning trap fishing in America?
@jase4270 said basically it was to easy to catch alot and fast .
@jase4270 usual over reach of government. It's cloaking out the entire industry state side with regulations, etc. So tight ppl can't make a living anymore
Had enough of slinging hooks for big fish?? I think you'll be back to it soon 😉.
Thought Id give it a go haha
Don’t bleed the fish?
Just getting the guys trained up to iki jime the fish. That was their first day.
We just gotta know why you keep playing with the 'wheel'? Surely it would be on auto pilot during your chat about the sea temp sensors? Are you using it to dampen the roll?
No, the auto pilot failed last trip so I was on the toggle switch all trip. It's been replaced now so life's a lot easier
