Tide carries the traps a fair way as they drop so its like deflection shooting you need to lead the target. Dont ignore small reefs and rocks in the middle of nowhere. Some of the best Red Emporer catches come off lonely little features like these. Goldband and Saddletail will school up over dropoffs and around larger features. Remember if you smash the red swimmer crab bycatch into the next bait basket it gets Red Emporer. They love it. Best product in the world but I still wanted steak after a stinky day on deck. There is a boat that fishes for Leader prawn works outa the duckpond. Wait till you see how big those prawn are TK! Big as your forearm. He was happy if he got a dozen or more a night. Selling to the prawn farms for hundreds of dollars each.
Awesome mate, appreciate the heads up
Just looking at the boys and not one has a knife on there back first hand experience here I have been hooked up in these pots it’s not fun 50ftm rope coiled and tied off coiling floats pots fallen off bench as boat pitched on swell nobody’s fault just ocean doing her thing but worst time of my life still don’t know how I’m still here and have my leg only 2 things saved me my Blundstone welly and Timmy with a skipper knife that’s not aloud to move (Timmy if ur reading this thanks bro) yellow handle rope knife tell austal to get u a heap put them in spots were u need them trust me they will save ur life stay safe and enjoy what we do 👍🏿🤑

Harsh….
longline ocean rapists.
Best eating fish on earth. Still less than 10% of the catch? Saw a few up 12kg+.
That empty hole right under his eyes freaks me out
Yeah mate, not nice
How much do you sell the tuna per kg
There's a lot of variables, depending on supply and demand, quality of the fish etc
Hey TK is that the new version 5 you're using to get those charts?
Yeah mate, they are amazing
Cheers mate, looks like I'll have to get the upgrade from V4.
where are those crazy people who want to get bitten on youtube now?
trypophobia
Ok im not "scared" of holes right but seeing many of them just really really crawls my skin Its so weird bruh

Poor fish. Bless its heart.
No double dipping
Even got him on the damn nose
Enjoy your content TK...as Vernon said "Always walk through life as if you have something to learn, and you will." I do fifo through Darwin, ex EBOP fulla, stalked your boat yesterday, listing...old engine out?
Yeah mate, doing some repairs. Sing out next time your up
Second bloke on the left - slip, slop and slap for your kid's sake. Even that term is outdated - get a long sleeve shirt at least. Please mate.
Not knocking your videos mate I love them. But have you ever thought of having someone come out with you and do some camera work?
It would be nice but it's a commercial fishing vessel so it's fishing first and foremost
Gday mate looks like you run a pretty tight operation there good to see you looking after the resource can you tell me do you find the reef fish feed more on different moon cycles interested to hear what you reckon
Absolute nightmare fuel. I can't shake the mental image of one of those guys taking a bite out of my spine or something. I'd rather get eaten by a great white
thanks TK another great vid mate
Cheers mate
I have been subscribed to your CZcams channel for a while now and your knowledge is amazing and I would like to ask you would you think about doing this in the Cook Islands. I have a GPS coordinate that has never been fished in the history of the Cook Island’s. sometimes in life it’s not about the money it’s about being the first to ever. Going to the moon and climbing the highest mountain in the world. I will not post the location because others might go there. Untouched by humans for billions of years and you will be the first. I wish I could be fishing that area but I’m focusing on my last 3 kids. 6 kids last 3 my baby girl 21 years old is studying to be a registered nurse my 19 year old son is studying at university to become a doctor and my last baby boy is 11 years old and is autistic and I have been looking after my sister for 30 years and lives with me and my wife who is cancer free and can’t look after herself. I remember at 5 years old fighting kids because they were teasing her and I’m the youngest out of 6 . 5 brothers and one sister. I love fishing and I have 2 boats a 4.6 dory a 6.7 barcrusher from New Zealand and I truly believe that this location will make you money. I might be wrong but millions of people have been wrong. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander and I’m sorry about my mistake writing English is my second language so sorry I forgot to say I live in Australia so my kids education is recognised through the world
Hi mate, I am heading to Cook Islands late July for my sons wedding
Are they holes or is something stuck to the shark. Im confused
They are bites from cookie cutter sharks 🦈
Possible Stupid Question: Would you ever consider slow-steaming out to the fishing ground to time your arrival for the morning, rather than sit at anchor overnight?
Yes we normally would but we are governed by the tides when we depart from Darwin.
Always remember a memorable days longlining out of Batemans Bay shooting towards Eden for Southern Bluefin Tuna. 6 hooks between each bubble the first 6 sets there was a fish on every hook each fish just over 50kg. It took hours to bring in that line 450 hooks over 5 ton for that 1 shot. Made more money that one sjot than for the entire previous month thats fishing.
Thats epic mate!
Great informative video mate. A couple of times throughout the video you sounded a horn of some sort. Just curious as to what the reason for that is? Keep a the great work. Cheers Jarred from Melbourne.
I watch the cameras and when the deckhand comes into view and gives me the thumbs up that they are ready to set the next trap I hit the horn to set the trap. They won't set it until I sound the horn.
Ahh awesome makes sense. Thanks for the response mate. Happy days
New viewer luv it ,,,SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Good Day Mate
G'day mate
Slow pot hauler?
Yeah it bogs down a bit on the bigger traps
@@tkoffshorefishing Gotta love a fast hauler.
Not enough money in shark even though bronzes aren’t bad in beer batter
Looks like u really enjoying your new fishery. But forget the protein shakes. Stick to your fish.Protein shakes do nothing.
Just getting skinny mate, need to look after myself and put some meat on my bone's 😊
Oh yes of coarse I see maybe get some meats into you and carbs. That will stack on the weight.
Will do
Good morning Skipper , As you know I have been following you for quite some time , and always wanted to ask you : Do you ever go fishing near New Caledonia? I am asking as I was there in ‘92 , for 12 months , doing my National Service. Thank you once again for the adventures. Chris from Crete
Hi mate, I used to fish right by the border and I used to talk to the New Caledonia fishermen and swap notes. Great guys
Was thinking the boys aren't wearing life jackets but no point if they fall overboard the men in grey suits sort it out ! 😂 nice wheelhouse 👍
Yes I have been thinking about the guys wearing personal flotation devices but in the heat of the tropical weather we have up here the crew would certainly not be willing to wear them.
I went over the side of the Starlite in 2010. 4 am with a new moon. Pitch black like ink. I was in the water with the sharks for minutes. I made it back. Reef sharks wont get you unless your bleeding. Tigers however. On deck you are wet and sweating and moving/chafing. PFD 's get in the way. The rope is the danger when you are dropping traps. It will grab you in a bite in a second and rip you off your feet and over the side. Always wear boots a size too big so you can get out of them when the rope grabs your foot. Good memories
@@tkoffshorefishingwhat about the belt type ones they wouldn’t impede them or stop them keeping cool?
Lovely Ep and fish, I was wondering how you combated TFS do you brain spike and bleed every fish.
We iki jime each fish but don't bleed them
I would love to have that boat here on the big island of Hawaii. I’d live on the water.
Did they catch the fish like that or did they find it dead from the bites? I can’t imagine that couldn’t kill a fish
We caught it on our longline, it was still alive. It's common to see swordfish with multiple bites, fresh and healed up but this fish had been hammered by the cookie cutter's
@@tkoffshorefishing jeez!!!! I feel bad for that fish man. That’s insane. Thanks for the reply as well!!! Appreciate it!!!
Yeah nature can be savage at times.

I’m looking for work and can fly to Sydney from Denver tomorrow. Worked swords and tuna for years.
I did the same thing off the eastern United Stares. I wish I worked on your boat! What a nice vessel!
