Not all budget pencils are created equally. Here is a partial list of the ones that have a better quality and I recommend. Never assume that a budget pencil is lightfast. They are not for professional use, such as selling your art. They are excellent for students and people who are coloring in books.

I am so happy to finally have affordable supplies, that I can follow along with the tutorials, without guessing which color I need, to be as close to the color that is being used by the art professor. For many years, I would watch tutorials, like Bob Ross' or Donna Dewberry's one Stroke Brush painting. Then, I watched Lori do one of her classes, and I was like, cool... I went to pull out my pencils, and I was like Shit, this isn't going anywhere... So now, I get to sit back, calmly drink my hot beverage and not have to worry about stopping and starting on a piece, because I'm hunting down the color or tool to complete a piece.
Lori you are such a generous teacher, I only found your channel a few months ago and I have tell you how impressed I am with your skill to communicate and explain art in a way that everyone can understand with out talking to us like children. That can be hard to do. Keep up the great work!
I’m an urban sketcher who started with a gift of a coloring book a few years ago, and I didn’t really “get it” because I was coloring like a 7 year old. Now I’m starting to love looking at my colored pages. Thanks for all the great videos Lori!

I used to color like that. One petal at a time. It drove me crazy and it wasn't fun. It wasn't until watching different colorists such as yourself that I learned this way of coloring which I enjoy so much more. It is very freeing and more how do I say this? More effective or easier to accomplish the specific look you want. I had to completely retrain myself and it wasn't easy. It still isn't. I still want to revert back to how I used to color at times just cause I colored like that for so long. And flowers is what I began coloring when I first started so it's very hard not to naturally want to revert back. It's not wrong to color this way but like I said it was very not enjoyable and methodical for me. It took the joy out of coloring. Lori and one other colorist on yt is responsible for getting me back into coloring again after a 5 year hiatus. Ty Lori, I don't think I would have survived last year and this year without getting back into creating.💖
I used to blame ADHD for my style of coloring, but what ever works. I just don't see how the page become unified without balancing out the entire page from the bottom up.

Every picture I color gets to an ugly stage.. I have to tell myself out loud many many times, “ You old girl ,You must trust the process”! And keep on going with what I am doing! It’s hard to keep going, but every picture I have had to do this with comes out better than the last. I get cocky and grab one of my line art books and imagine how it would be in grayscale, I have to “Trust the Process from start to finish. I try not to do it often because coloring is to “De-Stress not Add Stress ! Lol but that’s just me.
