You're very welcome!
This is super helpful. Thanks, dude!
Glad it helped!
I use the same sealer and it's great :D
These models lock awesome!
Perfect! Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Just found your channel. Good stuff for a newb like me. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
YES! thank you. this is great
You're so welcome!
Thx u so much! i was one of that people that asked this thing in the last video! xD
I hope this helped!
Thank you
thanks so much. time to get paintin
Sealing also prevents the prints from leaching toxins (more so for aquariums etc.) When using PLA, PETG, or ABS Filament.

Amazing paint jobs, Goals!
Thank you for this video. Sadly Krylon is not available in our country, and if it is, it costs almost 30 bucks for 1 spray can. It's sadly one of those brands that is US based and needs to be imported, but with EU import laws, it's impossible.
Nonetheless, sealing for me is a 24 hour waiting game if I want to make sure the seal is solid and cured, alternatives are 10 times as expensive sadly.
Thanks for the video, keep them coming brother !
Really appreciate this helps a lot looking forward to your next vid. Also check out the new yara flor 3d statue would love to see your take/paint on her
I'll check it out!
Nice video as always! Going through the "old stuff" of the channel. Just wondering, are the seal coats waterbased or alcohol based? Cheers!
Thanks. They're all water based.
In model airplane and cars we use Pledge floor polish as a sealer
Great tips as always - Off topic question but when do you decide to glue parts together prior to paint or paint 1st , glue then fill gaps and paint again?
It really depends if the piece needs filling to hide a seam, then I'll glue then paint. If the piece goes on to where there aren't seams then I'll paint it first.
Thanks for your vids! I love them!
How did you print the fire of the indiana jones model???
I printed it in clear resin and used translucent paint
@@TheCreativeCollector thank you for that ! Didn't see much that looks pretty awesome like that!
Just one other question, do you have alternatives for krylon colormaxx clear - flat crystal clear? I'm from Germany and we couldn't get these can's here 😪
Thank you for the video as always. Krylon is not available in Turkey so what else can I use? do you have an idea what is the main ingredient of a sealer?
That's a bummer. I'm not sure what the active ingredient is. I'm going to do some research and post an update in my community section.
I just found your wonderfully helpful video and can I ask how do you get the spray sealant onto little tiny parts like eyes or lips etc.. for wet look areas ?😮😊
For that I brush on a gloss paint.
Do you apply the gloss paint after you’ve sealed the piece?
Yes I do! If you seal it afterwards it'll dull the gloss finish
What gloss paint do you use for the glossy areas? Do you apply it after you’ve sealed the piece?
I see the answer to my second question lol.
Cant get that brand in Australia. I use Vallejo cans instead or GW but they are more expensive.
Another great video Henry! Question- how do you control the spray? Most rattle cans tend to spray on the heavy side and are hard to control unlike an airbrush. Any tips on how best to control the spray?
I spray in light coats just enough to wet it. Good thing with this sealer is that it dries evenly. I don't soak it down where I have runs. Just enough to cover it.
@@TheCreativeCollector Thanks for the tip! Do you find you use one more than the other or use say a satin for the model and a gloss/flat for the base?
I mostly use flat
I would like to add that keeping your distance is very important to get a light coat, while spraying its important to do it in even motions without lingering in one area for too long, and leaving a good 1 feet long between your model and the rattle can will keep the paint from running or accumulating.
Do you know if this sealer would prevent acrylic paint from rubbing off of PLA 3d prints that are constantly being touched/rubbed? I’m looking for something super durable. While this looks good for what you’re using it for (your models look great btw), I’m wondering if it would work for something that is meant to be touched?
Yes it works for PLA too. It won't rub off. Very durable
@@TheCreativeCollector Thanks!
so would flat be the best option for pearlescent paint/pearlescent finish?
Yes
I have a question, I collect Todd McFarlane Multiverse figures and I have them on my shelf I have the figures close proximity to each other and I have noticed two of my figures kinda rubbed paint on each other
Can using a paint sealer help prevent that in the future with Todd McFarlane Multiverse figures?
It depends what they're painted with. Some plastics can have an effect that makes the sealer feel tacky.
Do you seal several times during the process or just once you’re done?
If I need to handle a certain part or area I'll seal that so I dont rub the paint off, then when I'm completely done I'll seal it a final time.
I have Games Workshop Forge World resin. My main concern is the resin will "sweat" over time and that's why I want to seal it. Or will a layer of paint prevent that in the first place? Should I seal my models for that reason? Also can you seal the model first then paint over it?
I'm not sure about that resin but I've never heard of it sweating. Normal resin doesn't do that because once it's cured you've taken the moisture out. You can seal it whenever you want but I always wait till after paint.
Did you hollow your prints without leaving any drainage holes on them? that sounds like stuck wet resin from the inside
woah
Woah
Can we print a one piece model standing straight up on the build plate? I thought we have to always put the model in a 45 degree angle?
You can depending on the pose. I have before. I'd still angle it a little
@@TheCreativeCollector thanks I hope I can print big prints in one shot, like some of the ones you work on
Will the spray seal it water tight?? Holly shit brother are absolutely stunning.
For the most part. I wouldn't go dunking your model under water or anything. lol
So you seal the model several times. On a standard figure, it looks like 3 times + a final?
Sometimes. I usually seal it when I have to paint the entire model one color then a final time. Just light coats though
yo that shirt is so sick
Saw it today at my Target
@@zkfo6969 u a real one
Sealing = saving (in the digital sense) almost like versioning 😂
True
How well do you think it would work for 3d printed pla molds? Going to make silicone fishing worms.
I'm not sure but I'd be curious how it turns out.
@TheCreativeCollector I'm thinking it will and will get back to ya. 2 weeks for my smooth-on materials get to me. I subbed, so I can find ya. Thanks for the reply.
@TheCreativeCollector it worked out good. Thanks
can not seem to get it in the uk only on import witch cost a arm and leg lol
That's what I'm hearing. I'm looking into something that you all in the UK can use that's just as good.
Krylon clear is great unfortunately in australia it is over $28 bucks a can I see a lot of guys use pledge floor gloss I have seen in aus some guys use a product called long life just wondering feed back on experiences as I am very new and am just starting out to paint my 3 d prints 🎉
I haven't used either of those but I've heard good things about them. Keep in mind the pledge is a gloss and the Krylon is a flat so there's a difference.
When you can find it in the UK its stupidly expensive, found one at £23 🤯
Seriously? That's crazy!
you said nothing about gloss brush on sealers for eyes, lips, etc
I mentioned it in the video. Of course brands are just up to the modeler. I figured when I mentioned the eyes and stuff, people would know those were brush on. I don't think anyone would try and airbrush that on those areas.
Do you hire out to paint other peoples models
Not at the moment. Sorry
I've used this before. It ruins the paint 50% of the time by leaving a milky or cracked finish. Use at your own risk.
Then you're not using it right or somethings different about your paint cuz myself along with countless others have never had an issue. No ones ever complained about it. Just you.
