- The top 10 prospects ranked by MLB.com in 2011 all made it to the MLB, but their careers turned out vastly different from one another. Some ended up good, others great, some were busts, and a couple of these guys ended up in elite company. In this video, I give a brief summary along with highlights of each of their careers, why the scouts loved them, and how their big league careers ended up going.

Big step up in quality here, well done
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Two of my fav channels
How are you verified
Hi jolly
Love your videos too.
Dom Brown just brings back painful memories. Almost every team in baseball was willing to give up everything for him until of course he finally became full time starter.
It was kinda crazy to me how quick the Phillies gave up on him too considering they held onto him for so long and he was actually pretty solid for a little
Despite Dominic Brown’s struggles I still think he was a great player for the Phillies. Speaking of the Phillies Bryce Harper has been on fire lately in regards to the post season he made it to his first World Series ever.
We are phuckin thrilled to have him!! The excitement around here is insane right now!! Regardless of how it ends, I’m thankful as hell for Bruce and the rest of the fellas for bringing some baseball excitement back to Philly!!
And shoutout to Trout too!! Kinda cool to say one of the best ever grew up 15 minutes away from where I did!!
Dude this is very high quality content, thank you 👍🏻
Idk why THIS video is blowing up right now. I’ve probably made 20 videos better since then, be sure to check out some of my newer stuff for actual good content
Mike trout is pound for pound the best player the game has seen since Junior. In some ways better but his health has been a major concern of the last couple of years. The 2011 class was epic!
Trout is better than Griffey
@@brandonlorch6825 yeah, griffey was not close to Trout and a bit overrated imo even if he was a clear HOF'er.
Damn. I almost forgot what a glorious sight it is when Jesus Montero "runs".
Or throws an ice cream sandwich he was eating at a scout!
Keeping this channel on my radar
This was in the peak years of my prospect fascination as a baseball card collector. Great era. From 2009-18 or so.
dude collecting baseball cards is for children
Hopefully your Channel blows up soon, just randomly ran into some of your vids and subscribed hopefully that algorithm helps you out! Good videos man
It’s been helping a ton this past week, I was at 1.3k subs last Friday. Glad you like the vids!
Very nice video, keep it going!
As a diehard Mariners fan...this list makes me hurt in so many ways. :(
At least y’all have a bright future now
Definitely well done videos. Keep it up! Just came across this channel and sub'd.
Thanks! Hope you check out my newer videos, this one’s old and not really great.
Thanks so much for. Your effort . Every issue is a revelation
this was a great video, earned a dub 100%. cool to see myself in a home run clip too ! :)
Glad you enjoyed!
Hosmer must have seen this video. He's tearing it up now
It’s about time, padres fans wanted him to get the guillotine before the season 😂
Sometimes all it takes is a new city and a fresh jersey.
Welp 😆
Sucks that Jesus Montero didn’t have a better/longer career in the mlb. When I was a kid I went to a ton of games when he was playing for the mariners AAA affiliate and he threw me quite a few third-out balls over the course of those seasons. One time he even hit a homer in BP and then signed the ball for my mom on her birthday.
It’s nice to know that he was a cool guy but now I feel worse that his career burned out
I love these types of videos.
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video!
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
Crazy. I was actually at the Montero - Mike Trout catch game 😮
Ice Cream Sandwich
Mike is on another level
Harper this postseason is a great addition as well
IDEA FOR A VIDEO ….
.. that somebody probably already commented, or another the CZcamsr may be already made but AnyWho I think it would be really interesting to see what rounds or picks in draft either what ranking of prospects (like prospects with the ranking of 13 through 26 for an example ) have the best odds of becoming successful in the bigs. And since I know that whole long run on sentence was confusing another idea for a video that I haven’t seen is a top 10 of prospects with the number one ranking (or with in the top 10 prospect rankings) that ended up having successful careers with the guy at the top of the list having the best careers.
Great video
Dude snuck Gary Sanchez in there like we wouldn’t notice💀😂
“Perennial all star” 💀
the clip 11:20 is at my home HS , dude was unreal
Ugh Jesus Montero.. I'm a mariner fan and that was a bad time. The Pineda trade looking back was brutal.
Oh come on Ackley as well!? Oh this is brutal to watch. I had so much hope.. you are right the mariners failed him. It's brutal when you know who the club passed over in the draft
Mariners had some talented guys in the early 2010s, sucks that they could never put it all together around king Felix. Ackley and Montero were supposed to be two generational contact hitters. I’m a Yankees fan, they were comparing Jesus to Miggy, then we traded him. Idk what we saw, maybe the bad work ethic, but Cashman sold at the right time.
@@AndThatsBaseball at least you are a fan of a successful team. It boggles my mind to know that everything from 02-20 was pure mediocre at best. So many good players it's honestly to wrap the brain around it. Another one you can say the Mariners nearly broke was Zunino rushing him from AA to a crucial piece of the team. Just goes to show what bad management does to a club.
Yeah, I feel like Yankees fans feel entitled sometimes. So many people wanna say fire Cashman when he’s never had a team below .500 and he’s always finding great deals on undervalued players. Even this year, we’ve had an insane amount of injuries yet we’re still competitive, I’m very lucky to root for this team.
I was such a Montero believer. I remember going all in buying his baseball cards. Now they sit in a closet and are worthless lol 😆.
As also a Mariners fan, I somehow am both relieved and disappointed that you didn't bring up the "I've cream sandwich incident."
As far as Ackley goes, I legit feel bad for him because Jack Z really did screw him. Jack Z literally had the strategy for a few years of "2nd basemen are usually really athletic, so we should get as many 2nd basemen as we possibly can and play them wherever, and I'm sure it will work out fine," and then would wonder why the team was usually near it at dead last in fielding. I remember there being a few games where I figured out there were like 4 or 5 2nd basemen playing in random places around the field. It should be noted that Jack Z is also the guy who later signed Robinson Cano just to make sure that no future M's 2nd base prospect would ever have the chance to come up to the majors playing his native position.
This must have been made before Bryce won the NL MVP 2021 and in 2022 has his Phillies in the NLCS!!🎉🎉 Philly loves Bryce!!!
It was made early 2021, a lot had changed
Jeremy Hellickson between Trout and Harper 💀
Great video but I can't stop freestyling to the beat I guess that's a good thing😂
How did the Mariners fail Ackley? Moving from the infield to the outfield shouldn’t be hard.
They picked him high and didn’t develop him lmao. They didn’t develop any of their hitters at the time.
I'm eating popcorn, procrastinating some Excel project, this your fault, CZcamsr I am newly subbed to.
I’m responding to CZcams comments instead of studying for my exam
Surprised this didn't mention the Jesus Montero Ice Cream Sandwich incident.
Still got love for J.T., as a Braves fan. He's a fighter. Hope to see him rediscover his change, and play a bit longer.
Same man. He got a lot of hate for no reason. The coaches messed with his pitches and he started throwing a sinker/2 seam more for no reason.
He’s in San Diego now, I mean in El Paso AAA.
Arnoldis (I’m going to give up that save) Chapman
And now he doesn't even show up for bullpen sessions 💀
15:34 what sound is that?
My Grandma lived accross the street from Chatsworth high ballfield once Moose hit a ball over the fence andbroke a window, next year the raised the fences after 50 years.
Yeah Hosmer worked out so well in SD, they traded him while paying for the ENTIRE contract. That’s how much the padres valued his contributions to the team. One of the worst defending 1st baseman I’ve even seen
Idk what happened to him, he had a solid 2020 then just fell back into the same awful habits from his first 2 years. It was a bad deal from the beginning but I never thought it would be this bad
As a Royals fan, Hosmer was a great all-around player but got way too big of a contract from the Padres. I can't blame him for taking that deal, but he simply wasn't worth that much money.
Trout needs to request a trade to a contending team. The only thing he’s lacking is that ring.
Some prospects can't make the transition to the Show. Players that stay and make a difference work at it when they are at the top level.
Great video ,Gary Sanchez is turning into a big dud
Gary’s had a better career than a lot of these guys
imma take a wild guess that Julio Teheran might not be 30 if you know what i mean. it should of been worth knowing that Harper signed a 330million $ deal and Trout signed a 450million $ contract extension... they will be playing in the league for a long time to come.
Julio is 30. His issue was pitching tons of innings, a bad coaching staff, and likely a couple injuries he played through that formed bad habits
Prospects on the largest market teams always get a good 30 spot rise on the prospect list just because they are in that teams system. At least this is what it has seemed like.
Don’t think so, there’s been plenty of top 10 prospects on mid/small market teams that have been busts (see all the mariners over the years)
More of these
I’m gonna do another one before the 2023 season about the 2013 prospect class
You gotta update this list with Bryce harpers recent accomplishments in Philly boss 😮💨
Nobody needs me to tell em how good Harper's been the last 2 years
BTW - Great pronunciation of Cartagena. Most English speakers never get that right
I actually remember Jesus Montero most from the time he got hit in the head and it swelled up more than I’ve even seen a boxer swell up
I'll always remember Jesus Montero for the time he had an Ice Cream Sandwich thrown at him.
I think that Haper and that Trout guy panned out
Yeah they’re solid
Lol including Gary Sanchez at the beginning
He’s a 2x all-star…
8:08 I wonder what Dustin Ackley would say if he checked out this video and saw his name spelled "Dusin"? Ouch.
I’m sure he’d be crushed
I didn’t really did the math, but I’m pretty sure he has more War then the rest of the top 10 combined
I looked at chart and my math was wrong, however he still has more win then a lot of the people combined which is just insane
Well, the Aroldis Chapmen section didn’t hold up did it?
Nope, I didn’t realize he was using tack. Once he stopped, he was awful. And his huge ego also got in the way of him realizing he’s not the same guy anymore
@@AndThatsBaseball that sucks man ill never forget watching him throw 105 for the reds
How do I turn off the annoying trap music? I just want the audio.
LMAO @ the Seattle Mariners!!!
I really wish Trout was on a better team.
Mariners Great Dusin Ackley.
It's puzzling to me some of the statistics you omit when you show different players stats
You’re probably right to be puzzled, I wasn’t really good at this at the time. I haven’t watched this vid back in over a year so I’m sure I’d be confused about some of my decisions too.
18:00
I mean... Winning a World Series. Or having any team success at all? Not that I blame him in the least for the Angels lacks of success. I’m just saying...
Trout will have to go to a different team for that to happen
Bryce in the 2022 NL playoffs has proven to be the scariest man to step into the batters box since Bonds.
He’s having the best October since 02 bonds or 04 Beltran for sure
Trout is the goat!
Mike trout looks like the next Griffey jr unfortunately
Chapman is now out of the Yankees
heandog sighting
Calling Moose a solid bat is funny
I made this early during the 2021 season tbf
@@AndThatsBaseball That's valid then lol, shame he dropped off so hard after, also great work on the video as a whole!
Why would you blame the mariners more than ackley?
They picked him and didn't develop him well. They barely ever developed any hitters well.
Ackley’s knees were shot even as a rookie. They Mariners broadcast was ordered not to show him running or warming up before the game. It was that bad. Sources said he had the knees of a 70 year old at age 20. That said the M’s coulda screwed up Mike Trout. And I’m a true blue M’s lifer
@@vadenk4433 I never heard about that, wow. If that's true, they didn't do enough homework on his health before the pick
Not downtown dom brown
Dude was so good for like half a season
Good video. No bullshit histrionics as you find one some of these popular channels.
Hey I’m all for histrionics if it makes for a great story (and as long as you’re not presenting it as 100% factual)
Braves messed up Julio imo. Also I’m 99% sure he got injured at some point and never let anyone know. His velo drop was drastic
Yeah he was barely scraping 90 by his late 20s
I am a Yankees fan I reside in Cleveland the Yankees are in trouble even if they beat Cleveland if Cleveland beats the Yankees they're in trouble there's no way I can see Houston not representing the American League
The Yanks have a good team. Anything’s possible in October
@@AndThatsBaseball I am a Yankees fan. I just am from here and reside here. I am not ripping the Yankees. Houston seems to be the best in the American League. I have to here all this stuff, when Cleveland does something good. We are on the same page, my friend.
As a matiners fan. You blamed the organization for ackley but how come kyle seager succeded? They were picked in the same draftrd and teammates at unc? I wish you rxplained more then just saying you dont blame Ackley. He got every chance possible here and never impressed
Jason Hayward sure turned out a dud. He was drafted before Freddie Freeman & the scouts were beating off about how good he was going to be. Jason Hayward would hardly sign autographs for kids in low A & karma is a big reason he never made it in the bigs. Freeman was a crowd favorite & worked harder than any player on the team. Character should be one of the main elements when selecting a player…
Jason Heyward made $200 million dollars as a Major League Baseball player and is still playing
Sorry, but moose hasn't really done anything other then that one yr. He never lived up to the draft position.
I think it’s really hard to argue that since so many of these guys don’t make it at all. Moose was a solid player for about half a decade and a really good player for a couple of years. He helped the team that drafted him win a World Series. I’ll take that all day
Idk bro….my boy Pedro Alvarez went 2nd overall in 2008….ahead of hosmer….Alvarez was always rated a higher prospect than him so idk why he wasn’t on this list 🤷🏽♂️
Cuz this is the 2011 prospect list, not the 2008 draft list. It's from MLB.com's preseason prospect rankings
@@AndThatsBaseball I know bro….hosmer was drafted the same yr in 08 and came up the same yr as Alvarez in but yet he’s on your list 🤦🏽♂️…..but ok…..dope video tho
@@whoishec7615 Pedro Alvarez exceeded his Rookie Limits in 2010
@@tigre2154 gotcha…..that’s what it is….he was brought up mid season but exceeded the at bats so they counted 10’ as his rookie yr…..thank you 💪🏽
Do you think Baby Shark will be the next Angel great after Tim Salmon and Mike Trout?
Gerardo Parra?
Well the hosmer projection didn’t work out well
Yeah cuz he remembered he has to ground out on every ball in play
That didn't age well.
It’s a 20 min video you’re gonna need to be specific
Dog don't use the baseball doesn't exist music. Your not him.
This was like my second video ever I didn’t know what I was doing. But I’ll still use whatever music I damn please.
@@AndThatsBaseball yikes immediately responding too light criticism on a year old video. Also I might have stuck around if you didn't act like a tool.
