This is a baseline inbound play to run against a 2-3 zone defense. This play was originally posted on my channel along with 3 other plays in the same video. For ease of use, I decided to create individual videos for each of those plays.
Here's a baseline inbound play you can run against a 2-3 or 1-2-2 or 3-2 zone defense. This is absolutely one of my favorite plays to run; because of how simple it is to execute.
Like all inbound plays, you should have the possible and likely plays to run against the defense you're up against in your head and ready to go before to ball even goes out of bounds.
Executing a solid screen and reverse pivot is just as important as the eye tracking and body language of your inbounder. It's always the tiniest details that make all the difference. Your main scoring option should be able to reverse pivot and seal in both directions based on how they feel and recognize the player they're screening moving. The inbounder should be able to be patient for the play to unfold and deliver the pass without giving away intent. It can be as small as eye tracking and body language. Those can be dead giveaways as to your intentions before you run the play. Learn the basics of the play, the polish it up with the fine tuning details.
You don't need to know hundreds of different inbound plays, you simply need to do a few plays really, really well!
This baseline inbound play to run against a 2 3 zone is great for teaching youth, club teams, junior high, high school, and recreational teams.
If you have recorded video of your team executing this play or any of the plays you've learned from my channel and would like for me to do a CZcams video review of your team executing the play, please email me at:
