  • Porter rebuilds the carburetor on the mercury 6 HP to see how it does on the back of a final attack stock transom. We take the final attacks to the water to see how towing the jet sled with decoys does, as well as testing our anchor system and trailer. Let us know what you think! thank you for watching!

When you were testing the engine you were able to rev it in the ice chest without it going into gear

So can I ask you, how did you bypass the gear linkage on your throttle

Hey Kirk, I believe we had the prop off in this video. I do know most of these models have a throttle only button on the side of the engine beside the shifter.

My dad and I are thinking about doing a similar setup with a longtail motor. Have you done a speed test to see how fast you can get?

with the 3.5 and 4 hp you will be lucky to get 8mph. The 6 hp would be the way to go if you wanted to get a little more speed out of it.

I have a final attack I run a PPF long tail mud motor. (6hp) it’s not very fast (maybe 6-8mph) it’s hard to get a good angle into the water with a long tail. You also have to figure out a way to mount it. I welded a bracket for mine.

I have one I have Ben hunting for the last 3 years with a 6.5 ppf motor and just a little throttle tweaking and I do 16 to 18mph easy the key is to take the wheels off the bottom they create to much drag. Love mine!
