- I was talking with a friend who resetted the ecu of his honda civic by removing the positive and negative terminals from the battery. That might work but this is a faster method. BTW you can also reset the ecu by unplugging it but this method is usually faster.

Out of all the videos I have watched over the years and recently about how to turn off a check engine light, this is the first one that has shown this method. Great information
😎👍
Dude, you rock. This right here is the difference between your knowledge and wisdom. I'm compiling a list of useful car knowledge, and this is going in it.
Thank you I was trying to find the key sequence to reset the ECU in a Subaru for example my 2014 Dodge Avenger if you want to reset the ECU you could just turn the key to the on position and pump the gas 7 times but nobody seemed to know it so this idea is 100x better than disconnecting the battery and pumping the brakes
It worked for me 2014 ES 350. Had it read at Autozone it was a Gas Gap Code. Checked cap and it was off (kids helped pump gas and didn't screw the cap in). After over 100 miles light didn't reset. Tried the ECU fuse as explained on the video and it worked.
7-years later and this morning the dreaded dash light came on, initially YTube vids disconnect battery cables but watched your vid for short cut fix it. Now I need to DIY to see if I get your results👍
My car has four ecu fuses. I pulled them all. Super easy. Thanks.!
😆 I just came back into the house to wait out the 15 mins after joining my positive and negative battery cables together based on another CZcams video. And then I run across your video.
Did it work for you ?
WOW ! Why didn't I know that; amazingly easy and avoids other problems; THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!
This video saved me hundreds of bucks. Great help! Thanks!
thanks for the perfectly clear instructions
Thank you very very much it worked perfect for my car honda frv. I made it the old school I took the whole plug of the battery left it for 10 min and then pluged it in.. tara! Many thanks again.
Hi, what did it change on your Honda FRV
I’ve got an automatic and have delayed shifts in 3rd gear onwards
You Sir, are a life saver. It was fast and easy. Thanks!!!°
THANK YOU!! You are a life saver, and this sure beats undoing the battery terminals.
Hey thanks for the video. Changed my life.
OMG This was so helpful. I hate take the cables off the battery. Thank you. 🤗
Awesome it worked on my van. And i didn't have to disconnect battery which would make my pass lock security system activate and wont let the ignition circuit work unless i do some reset procedures that take time ......👍
You are a genius! Thank you!!!
a good idea ... thanks for taking the time to make this 👍
Brilliant . Disconnecting battery terminal can upset folding mirror function and window shutting .
Thank you dude that was real simple I like that God bless you
Did it really work
Thanks a lot. I tried different thing but this method worked instantly 🙏🏼
Dude u helped me get this fixed thanks man
Hey, just want to say thank you for this video. It works on my civic with the E-MID blank screen problem. This method is much faster and safer than to unplug the battery.
How is unplugging a battery unsafe lol
@@yochillll2672 I’m here trying to figure out who said it was unsafe.
@@mike-anthony8700 literally in the last sentence.... I can tell you ain't a bright one
Clumsy unplugging of batteries can cause short circuits that will fry your alternator.2) Old corroded battery clamps can break. ECU fuse removal is best explained.
You are a life saver! Thank you!
Thank you for the info. I love the background music.
Great, I have done your method and held good result. thanks a lot
Great advice thank-you.
I haven't tried it yet, but it makes a whole lot of sense to just reset the ECU fuse only.
Thank you so much my friend. This light on my Instrument panel stays on all the time. I will try having a go at this easy fix. This will save me a lot of money. You are very Helpful my Friend. Jonathan and Audi A3 owner.
Did this work for your A3 and what year is your vehicle? I have an a2 with the EM light on. Want to know if this is worth trying or straight into the garage?
@kasser1384
If you don't fix the problem, the light will come back
Best method, so much better than taking batt cbl off. My radio has about 40 settings that are lost at battery change etc. On my Ranger I killed the pwr to the PCM memory and drained it by putting a load on it at the fuse box. (an analog meter, then let the needle fall to 0). Still have intermittent flooding at start after replacing fuel injectors. So if anybody has suggestion I'm listening. Other than smelling gas at warm start sometimes it runs great and the trans shift points are smooth as glass now.
Great advice thank you
😁I had recently purchased a 2018 Ford Escape that was getting poor mileage because it had been "living" at sea level and it now lives in Denver, CO which is 5400 above sea level. I took your advice, plus I also pulled all other fuses connected with with the engine or transmission. Mileage went from 22.5 to 27.2 immediately. Thanks!

Idk if you were going for comedy but your comment made my day lol
Thanks worked for me!👏👏
Thank you Sir. I will try this tomorrow
It worked! Thank you!

Hahaaa .. thats the feeling I'm trying to feel right now..in 3...2...🙏🏽 Please let this shht work!!🤣
Lol! Right?

😂😂😂
I’ll grab you one, i was heading to the fridge for one myself 🤙🏻
The music made mine work. Even put the baby to sleep for the real win.
thankss so muchh!!! it workedd!!
i think i made the light come on because i pulled the 02 heater fuse by mistake and then started the car.... and then i almost had a heartattack when the light wouldnt go off after i put the fuse backs
i actually meant to pull out the compressor fuse cos my blower motor is fried and i didnt want someone to turn on the AC and ice up the lines or something...
anyway... light is off. engine sounds fine... hopefully everythings good :)
Thank you this worked!!!
Thank you, great idea
Top video mate

Merci pour ces infos. Seb of France :)
Best Method im seen🏆🎉🎁

Hahaha i love it

Thanks a lot!
When reprogramming a new BCM to disable the Anti theft make sure ALL fuses are installed and working. It is setup to need to communicate with certain parts of the car and without all fuses present (even RDO funny enough) it won't work. This happened to me until I found the info on a forum.
Thank you to try it on my Honda Accord
Tank you ro information. Its à master
After replacing fuel pump, maf sensor, map sensor spark plugs ,spark plug wires, catylic converter, throttle body , lower intake gasket, manifold gasket ,vent solenoid, purge canister, and maf sensor for the second time to redo everything po172 and po171 kept comin on till I came to a mechanic that had asked me if I’ve rest the ecm. Come to find out he was gonna charge me 40$ to check it and another 120 to reset it on his scanner which I already paid in the past..This video reminded me of the hassle I went through until I pulled the damn ecm fuses out and disconnected the battery which now has my ecm reset so that it can compensate correctly and now my engine is A1 and no engine light has come on yet….2008 impala flex fuel headache car 🤕……yes I replace everything on that car….always use ac delco or original manufacture not no bull crap brand learned the hard way on that too
Man I'm going through the same thing and going crazy.. I'm about to try this and hopefully it works.. o2 sensor, map sesnor, fuel injector, throttle body, pcv valve all replaced and I'm going to be extremely pissed but also extrememly relieved if this works
I try this night,omg..is working!tq very mush 4 yours advise.i am from Malaysia..👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice 😎
Wow thank you 👍🙏
Thank you so much sir
One more time Thanks ❤
Thanks buddy!
Thanks I will try it I change my gas cap light went off but then came back on so I tried the battery trick I drove it a few miles and then I'll I came back on this is a real pain in the neck
This worked for my 07 Cadillac CTS

Wow too easy! Tks
Thanks man
Bloody brilliant…..
thx that was cool
Thank you broo
Here’s hoping!🤞 let us know know tomorrow!
Thank you
It works like a charm, mechanics can take control over your car and keep your car running bad in order to get more money out of you. The mechanics can keep you coming back for repairs with their scanners and they can use the scanner to keep your car running bad
Wtf are you talking about dude 😂
Simple solution: Buy a $30 scanner and scan your own car before and after going to a mechanic. Also, that mechanic is taking a HUGE risk on their reputation if they are doing this....
@@TeeTafoya87 yes I did buy a scanner pay over a hundred dollar and sixty dollar for a code reader my check engine light comes on after I replace everything myself because the mechanic didn’t know what was wrong switching coils and injectors so what I did I started with the fuel pump and filter and the car runs better but the check engine light comes back on so I replaced cam and crank sensor new plugs new coil new vacuum canister check valve and the other valve new mass air throttle sensor idle control fuel pressure sensor get pcv and every thing on the car and It runs very good and strong better than ever but the check engine light still comes on I cut it off 20 or 30 miles it comes back on so I open up the dashboard and took the bulb out and my 04 mustang GT automatic dark shadow gray is running good I even put a new harmonic balancer on it
change a mechanic lol
How about the capacitors on the computer itself?
Thanks bro
Ofc, can’t expect this method to work for my Mercedes W211
Thank you!
Dam that was practical
You are the next Albert Einstein 🍻
Aw gee that was easy.. I’m gona try that on my Rodeo 😂
very good
Thanks for your good job
IF your car has a problem the light is going to come back on again before long, do yourself a favor and buy an inexpensive code scanner (about $40) and you can read all the codes and fix the problem the right way, or if you just want to turn the light off it will do that too without popping the hood
do the scanners fix the problem or do you need to physically fix the problem by remove a part?
Ach Cru you have to fix the problem yourself after the scanner tells you what is wrong with the car
Best thing I bought
Thanks 👏
Removed bulb on dash...never came back on 🤣
Aron Rich best comment
Aron Rich
How did you remove the bulb
But if u do that cruise control dont work
Nice comment 😂
😂😂
You saved me thank you 😅 heart attack..
You say hood like the Scots do 👍🏻
Bonnet?
Thanks. 👋
Dang... Why didn't I think of that? Thanks
Clever man I'l have a beer on you wuuuuu
Thank you, bro. It worked like a charm
On my tacoma truck. God bless you
and happy new year ^ ^
Would probably be worthwhile to mention that most import vehicles have more than one ECU or PCM fuse so some vehicles it may not be as simple as just finding Mr ECU and pulling him out
Probably equally important to mention that this would be considered a soft reset in the process of unhooking the battery terminals and then connecting the positive and negative leads of the vehicle would be considered a hard reset of course giving enough time for the capacitors to drain and the control modules to start from scratch would be the most important step
dam man you save me $300 at the dealer lol lol
Tks, guy
You're videos are helping my troubleshoot my Civics idle surge. D16y8 SOHC manual ,(so there's NO fast idle valve). New IACV, plugs, wires, coolant burped, TPS calibrated, map sensor working. Yet it's still surging. It also is idling high (2,000rpm). Vacuum leak? When I plug the throttle body with my hand, it does NOT stall. This suggests a vacuum leak, correct?
Same issue with my 98 accord 5 speed. Cant figure it out for shit .
Great vid. Notice this guy has a small hand. Fuzzy too.
How we can reset on accord 2013. Please tell me.
