How to make a catapult / slingshot tutorial

- In this short video I briefly talk through how to create an effective, high power, hunting catapult using a young ash branch. This is done using a traditional family method which involves cutting, shaping and drying the ash forks.

Hello GCO from a viewer in Haiti. This was a cool way of doing a catapult. 1st I've seen using the leather band loops. I have tried doing my own but tying the bands this way seems easier. Good job!

Hello Spirited adventure, in theory yes although the thicker the forks the more spaced apart they will be, I would say the example in the video is at the upper limit of thickness. Yes bend them into place then dry, then trim. Thanks for the comment James, good luck in the draw.

How do u put bands on
Thread bands through the leather eye, about 2 - 3 cm, bend back on itself, pinch together with thumb and finger, stretch it a little then get someone to tie it with nylon string, kite string, while being stretched slightly. Singe the ends of string with a lighter to tidy it up 👍

Romany Gypsy blood, my gramp was a full blooded Romany Gypsy born in a Barrel wagon, was a horse dealer, I don’t claim to be a traveller, I live in a house, but I’m proud of my family history and I like to try and keep traditions alive that’s all mate. Gypsy Chef is just my CZcams name, was hoping to turn it into a brand if things take off
