Joey Santiago. The most underrated guitarist of all time.
Uhm, nope, you're thinking of Alex Lifeson. Joey does kick ass though.
@@pterafirma Oh God, a RUSH fan. A Canadian weed addict. Santiago's solo here is sweet.
@@pterafirma Off to listen... wicked!
a real example of it's not how big it ist's what you do with it...
@@Shiva108 hahaha true
Pleasantly surprised by how true they have stayed to their sound . Good song. Wish them the best.
Seeing Black Frances weave this beautiful twisted tale, Joey's unmistakable guitar wail, David lovering's incredible drumming and Paz's energy makes me so happy.
jkhollywood Fuck yea to all of that ☝🏻👌🏻🤘🏻
Now this band is a blast from the past. Good ol school days
osculim no it isn’t. You can see they’re as old as us, and Black never stopped making music from then to now 😳
I’ve seen a show or two in my day, and the Pixies were one of, if not the best live performances I’ve seen to this day. Straight up. I’m glad they’re still making music together.
Some woman seems to be missing. Just not the same.
You’re right, it’s not the same. It’s better. Give it a chance. They made some amazing music when they were kids. They’re making some even more amazing music now.
@@studway I agree, the chemistry is much better, Kim and Frank just did not get along, you can tell he gels much better with Paz. She's been great for the band. Looking forward to the new record. Like Joe's solo here.
Nobody's better than Kim. Except for dudes.
Charles still got it. New album next week. Can't wait.
"Now she’s known as Catfish Kate..."
Beneath the Eyrie out on September 13: Pixies.lnk.to/eyrieyv
Frank Black is a songwriting god .
Not here, he's not. Tune the guitars too. It sounds better...
Especially here, he is. Guitars sounds great!
@@spaceengineer1452 know what you're talking about before you talk
Frank black
that man has no end to his creativity
How have so many people missed that they have been touring for the past two years?! Saw them 2018 and they were amazing. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Seriously still so talented!!
Word
These Pixies... I've seen them 4 times and will again in March in Auckland... 3 new albums since I saw them on the Doolittle tour. They make life awesome.
They've made five new albums since Dolittle... Bossanova / Trompe le monde / Indie Cindy / Head Carrier / Beneath the Eyrie. All awesome :)
Nice to see they're still rocking, that's awesome
Those back up vocals are damn near perfect.
I've been in love with her voice since Zwan
Wow...charles hasn't grown his hair out for nearly 20 years...he's had the clipper look the whole time...the hair may be changing but they have stayed true to the sound and style since the beginning...rock GODS!!!
They all look like they're having so much fun!
It makes me so happy they can still churn out a good tune and play it well! I’m a proud mama.
Have seen the pixies twice in my day, great band!
They never get old. The new 2 singles are just fucking magestic. I listen to them every day.
what a great new album... btw Paz is the perfect match.
This makes me really really happy.
This is the first time (apart from the Graveyard Hill video) that I've seen Charles/Black Francis hair grown out. I know it's trivial, but I'm a fan. I might even be a fan _boy_ when it comes to the Pixies.
I love Paz! She is the best!
Not Kim is an incredible facsimile of Kim. No complaints here.
“Not Kim” has already written twice as many pixies songs as Kim. Kim was amazing. IMHO, not Kim is every bit as good as Kim, without the drug abuse and drama.
@@studway The "Not Kim" is just a joke because she is so much like Kim it's uncanny. I genuinely think Paz is a fine addition. With that said, I think you are selling Kim short. She did a great job in the Breeders, so we know she can write. And for as much as I love the Frank Black solo albums, they just aren't as good as his collaborative writing as part of the Pixies. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. For as dysfunctional as Kim and Dave can be, they were obviously bringing something to the table.
I’m not a fan of breeders music so that doesn’t prove to me that she can write. Teenager of the year is the greatest accomplishment of Charles Thompson’s career and he wrote that pretty much all by himself. The thing that irks me is that people act like Charles and Kim were equals and that is so far from reality it’s laughable.
@@studway I agree, Kim Deal was nothing without the Pixies the Breeders were rubbish at the time, bandwagon jumpers and they sound dated now unlike the classic Pixies which is timeless. And the Breeders had no great tunes!! While Franck Black solo has had moments every bit a good as the best of the Pixies.
I ♥ Paz's stuff on the bass
Loving these guys since 95' 👌🏽
Best song ever on the show!
Saw them playing in Copenhagen last night, amazing song and superb perfomance!
I found about the pixies in 1994..they were not together....and 2004 i saw them live during the reunion!!! In St Paul Mn.
Man, this caught me off guard. It's been a while and now everything snapped back into place like an overextended then released rubber band. Need to listen to the old albums again. That EP is getting picked up too.
They've released three albums since re-forming, Indie Cindy, Head Carrier and Beneath the Eyrie.
@@NxDoyle All of which are brilliant in my opinion.
I still remember listening to Doolittle for the first time shortly after it came out. Huge gamechanger for me. I've seen them three times, planning on going again when they hit Ohio again. I saw Nirvana on their final tour... and not to disrespect them, but Pixies live is such a better experience. Best shows I've ever been to. Sorry to hear of Charles' divorce, but delighted that Joey is in recovery.
Legends.
Paz 😍😍😍
Paz! 😍🌺

Black Francis. Grew. His. Hair. Out!!!!!!!!!!
You are getting older too.
@@richardjones4259 Oh hey, Ageist. Now do me: I've been listening to Robert Johnson's albums. And Marlene Dietrich. They were AMAZING live!
Been such a long time since I have heard this ....a new generation of amazing new styles of musical talent ....love it...keeping it real..
@Anthony MacKaye yes , I was referring to this generation of music...its amazing that older generations are still in their prime to share their artistic talent with so many uprising talent ....like the 70 and 80s still being able to reach out to generations to keep it alive....so on and so on...it's almost like a continued class of schooling for each musical ability to learn more from...I hope this explains a little more...I seem to go a little to deep in my explanations on these post so by cutting it short , this is what happens ..lol...but thank you for bringing it to my attention
And really can't ask Kurt , and would LOVE the chance to ask DAVE.....so if you have a hook up to that please give me that honor of just being in DGs presence...lol
@Anthony MacKaye no I have not listened to all of them BC it seems in those days my technique of music was a little less than now.... It's the rediscovering in depth the music these days that helps me Discover some of the new talents today... So once again thank you to enlighten me to maybe take a step back into these days to rediscover these things I truly missed in music... I an sure it will broaden my horizon to tune into more artistic expression in many levels....✌💖

Black Francis/Frank Blacks voice still getting it done! 👏👏👏
Charles Thompson IV's voice too!
Miss you guys.
Can't wait for the new EP!
@Get Real Music Whoops, yeah, meant LP
I love the Pixies!
Just found Wave of Mutilation on spotify a month ago. May use it in a play I'm writing. Really like this!
Listen to the (UK surf) version too, it's amazing! It's on the Pump Up The Volume OST or their B-side collections (czcams.com/video/w3FMOLKAas4/video.html)
Check out their earlier albums. The comeback stuff does not have the same energy.
@@ThreadBomb What's that supposed to mean, 'The same energy....'.. Moronic statement by a cynical know-nothing.
@@ThreadBomb The early albums are definitely brilliant... but so are the most recent three!
Pixies! They still sound good
Cool🔥🔥
Saw them at Plymouth sat they are the best Lv them😎
So Frank Black has evolved into my girlfriend's dad. Is this even his final form?
He's had the dad look since the 90s
The Awful Guitarist no one cares
@@Euronymous_Bosch
And?
I believe he has 5 kids, so not surprising he’s rocking the dad look.
Great performance! F.Black Francis& the 'dad' look. U young folks crack me up! (in a good way, suppose) 1st saw Pixies @ my college gymnasium, circa .1991- so became instant fan. Lead man younger than me then& remains younger, just nature's law.'Dargo' Mike
One of the most influential bands ever.
They still got it and sound amazing ! Fuckin love pixies
Pixies, minha banda❤️
Yup, they still got it.
How cool is this, maaaaaaaaaaaaaan
La La love you Lovering!
Go, Pixies, go!! :)
Fuck yeahhhhh good old school music thank you PIXIES
Paz looks like that one cool Aunt.
Is colbert really their scene? Those people didn't know what hit them but at least they heard some good music for once in their lives

Oh wow, Paz is in the Pixies now?!
Welcome to 2013
@@guitaristssuck8979 yeah sorry, I know, I don't keep track of my favourite Zwan members as much as perhaps I should

Pixies fuckin rule.
nice pixies chorus
Everyone’s math teacher
Certainly wasn't mine. Wish he had been. And if you were talking about Paz Lenchantin, even more so.
A no Deal Pixies
Physically certainly but practically and spiritually it's perfect! Kim D is where she should be, writing and singing her songs in her own band and Paz L is exactly where she should be; in the Pixies. A great deal all 'round!
@@blackmore4 I have no recollection of this...but, yeah, maybe your right...or maybe you're full of sh*t - I dunno :)
I saw them in April. Are they going to tour again for the album?
I'm gonna see them in Paris (France)
Going on tour! 👏🏻
Kim Deal looks amazing...
Lmao
Hahahaha
Thats what happens when your bass player isn’t a drug addict.
studway you know that’s not actually Kim Deal, right?
Yes I do. Just referencing the fact that Kim was (is?) a drug addict. Charles never got into that scene which probably had something to do with the falling out.
I saw the pixies in person as the opening for weezer
Caitlin Franklin Weezer covered their track velouria a few years back.
They were influence to many bands.
They are influence to many bands.
They're gonna be influence to many bands.
needs moar psychotic screaming
I pooped my pants
Definitely the best band of the 80s for me but I also love their three recent LPs. The general grouchiness towards them is baffling.
Nice to see them back but man do I miss Kim. They were/are my favorite band of all time but not without Kim.
saw breeders on tour about a year ago or so they FKN RIPPED the Deals are so on!@
You’re entitled to your opinion, but do you realize that Kim only co-wrote 2 pixies songs? Yes her voice is incredible and her bass playing was very good, but overall I’d take Paz over Kim deal.
she brought the whole band down, sometimes you'd have to amputate a limb for the sake of the whole body
VCR- perfect analogy. That arm was great when it was healthy, but it had to go.
They sound exactly the same without her.
Dang, we all got old ..
I feel very old now
Me too. Seemed like a minute ago I bought "Doolittle" on cassette as soon as it was released and today I'm 57......so I AM old.....holy crap!
Man, Joey looks exactly like my tito.
I always thought they were called "The Pixies".
Hey fellow guitar nerds,
There’s a box on top of Frank Black’s Vox head: is that an attenuator of some some sort? What brand?
enjoy every sandwich -warren zevon
I wonder if Black Francis can get along with that new Kim Deal.
He gets along with Paz MUCH better than with Kim Deal. He also allows Paz an incredible amount of leeway with the songwriting process now. She is a fully-fledged member now, with no one looking to the past. She will have her strongest presence yet on the new disc. Anyone hoping to see Kim back in the band will definitely have to get over it and move on.
Paz is supportive musically and plays violin 🎻 even. Kim was not. She was selfish and egotistical!
Yep. I’m not going to bash Kim deal, but overall Paz is better. Better bass player by far, getting better all the time in vocals, writes more songs, not a drug addict, not a pain in the ass.
legendarily overrated, yes. Sad that so many want the current pixies to fail so they don’t have to admit that Kim deal had very little to do with their original success.
How could a band member who co-wrote exactly 1 classic pixies song be “a huge part of their uniqueness”? People loved her because she was cute, had an amazing voice, and was the only one who smiled. Her non-pixies music, while initially catchy, loses me after a few listens. Charles writes songs that grow more interesting with time. Songs that can be listed to over and over and over. That’s his genius. Kim just doesn’t have that, which is why he couldn’t let her make major contributions to the albums. Another point people overlook- Charles and Joey founded the band and it was Joey, rightfully so, who was given more input as time went by. Nissan is and trompe are heavily influenced by Joey’s tastes.
The Pixies AND "One Of The Greatest 80s Bands Ever"
Here’s to them being one of the greatest bands of the 20s!
@@studway The 1920s?. They are not that old. I first heard there muaic in 1986!
Not the 1920s. The 2020s and beyond!
@@studway I know LOL. It is just a joke. The Pixies are considered to be an old band; but I still love them; as clearly you do to.
