Why fuss over better or worse? Paz fits in fine today and Kim is the original. They are both wonderful musicians and they both deserve respect, love & admiration.

They always had the songs and with Paz on board there’s no more conflicts or drama so they can continue playing concerts! Bowie said they were Americas best band! That high praise coming from him and he even covered one of their songs in concert. Cobain said Teen Spirit was his attempt at writing a Pixies song. So he was a fan as well.
So I saw the Pixies in Santa Barbara at the Bowl in the early 90's, I think around 1993. I got into shows because I worked Security as a side job. I was told to keep people out of the pit. As soon as the Pixies hit the stage everyone rushed us and I got the hell out of the way, it was amazing to feel the power of a large group of mobbing people. Great concert, love the Pixies, they sound great after all these years!

If you hear their history, Kim joined when she couldn't play anything and did not even own a bass! True "punk master musicians" where they teach themselves how to play, yet come up with these genius 'independent pop-punk' songs that had an impact on so many bands that came after them. Kurt Cobain admiringly said, "this is the band he should have been a member of, if he wasn't already in a band" and this is before Nirvana were famous. I went to see them live in Rome on 27/06/2022 because I know their are an alternative rock's legend and I wish to see Paz playing her bass. Although I don't know their music so well I really enjoy the show.
I saw them last night in Edinburgh. They were unbelievably good. All amazing musicians and frank looking really fit full of energy. Best night of the decade by a mile.

Pixies' music takes me back to high school. Pixies was one of those bands you only listened to if you were in a certain group. Everyone else just kind of listened to the pop chart music and the auto tuned rap. Of course my friends and I being skaters we loved Pixies and sonic youth. All of us smokers at the time hanging out in the smoking section. Glad we all mostly quit now though. Especially as one of my friends is a singer/music producer now. He's just released a cover of "All Along the watchtower" and I swear it sounds to me as if Pixies covered it themselves. It's a strange but cool take on it. Try searching Lonely Gimmick - All Along the Watchtower, I think he's seriously talented and deserves more attention. He does all the music himself recording to his laptop.

Pixies still supreme after 35+ years; only seen them live once back in 2005 (in don’t get out much). Still miss Kim though, she’s still so cute to this very day.
