Excellent video, Jeff. Beckett Simonon appears to offer a great dress shoe at an affordable price. Personally, the bulk of my shoes are from Allen Edmonds. I also have some boots from Johnston and Murphy. AE uses the Goodyear welt process and J&M uses Blake stitching. They are both great brands and made in the USA, which I like. At this point, I am well stocked with just about every type of shoe, but if I were in the market for a new pair I would give Beckett Simonon a serious look. Thanks for the great review.

Got my Beckett Simonon single monk strap in burgundy last week using the 20% off you gave us in October 2018. I am very pleased with it. It is a beautiful pair of shoes very well put together, great color. It's also true to size my size 12 fit perfectly straight out the box there was no breaking in period needed . Great information Jeff, what about the smell test, I do it. One quality shoe is worth more than any amount of cheap shoes, yes if you have to reach for a less expensive shoe do it with the same care. like you said there are some hidden gems out there.SALUTE!

Great vid very informative especially about “genuine leather”. I disagree on one thing though you can re sole rubber. I have some that are goodyear welt construction as well as leather sole it depends on the aesthetic you prefer.

Nice video Jeff. I just replaced a pair of Joseph Abboud with a pair of Stacy Adams, which has the stitching on the bottom, and I bought a new pair of black dress shoes and own a pair of light brown dress boots. I only when I dress for church , or some occasions where I have to dress up. I wear a uniform to work and wear work boots, so in my case, my dress shoes will be lasting me for a long while. Please make a video on shoe maintenance and about the best body talcs.

Never cheap out on shoes, ruins the whole ‘uniform’. Save up and treat yourself to bespoke shoes (if you can afford to) at least once in your lifetime (it's addicting though). Great content Style O.G.

I wanna do bespoke, but only after i got one of each shoe style i like. Only chelsea, wholecut, single monk, and casual oxford to go before i go bespoke
On your recommendation some time ago I picked up two pairs - double monk strap and a Tan Captoe these bad boys always get complements no matter where I go. I also picked up the Leather Messenger bag, now that is a tight bag.

All depends if you wear a lot but it is good to have a good dress shoes it's an investment like a nice suit and for the ordinary days just casual ..... And try new brands sometimes u can find a new one with good quality because in these days we are paying for the name of the brand so I try to support the new small companies ... At the end of the day it's all you.. and keep humble... that is the best investment

I agree with everything except the price point. I always fund quality dress shoes for no more than $60. Nortrom Rack has $4-$600 shoes for about $100-$150. Those shoes will go on clearance 50-75% off and go down to $40-$60.

Lovely shoes. I think you can get quality rubber soled shoes that are stitched and resolable. I have some (Loake 1880 I think) and they are just as quality as similar leather soled shoes if not as commonly found. To me the big factor on what soles to choose is climate. When in a warm summer leather soles are great but when I'm in a wet English winter I need the extra traction and water resistance from a rubber sole or at least a leather sole with rubber added by a cobbler

Another way to check the quality of shoes is to smell the inside of the shoe. If it smells like glue, you know it's been made on the cheap with glue bonding as opposed to stitching.

it can be less water resistant than a goodyear welt..
