    I just started to learn the day after Christmas this year. I like the way you teach this topic. It has been very good for me a beginner. You break it down better than I've seen it explained in books.

    How do you know if you have a cheap or bad reed?

    • @DarkIsleBagpiper
      @DarkIsleBagpiper  Před 3 lety

      Mainly tone gives the Reed sound away, not price. Overall I love the sound of Gibson reeds on practice chanter and pipe Chanters I prefer the G1 reeds. A great Reed makes a Piper happy too :)

    May I ask what the name of the song is @ 0:18 ? That’s the song that has inspired me to learn the bagpipe. I’d really like to learn that song specifically.

    I was treating my chanter like a guitar string... I've been separating notes by just tapping or birls on the next note down
    If theres 9 notes and you have 8 others to lift.. dose that give you 72 different notations on a chanter ?
    I cant read sheet music so I've been "translating" the scale high A to low G from dots to #s.. 0,T for thumb ,1-7
    ... I taped my chanter to pitch and been learning songs wrong obviously, how many notes are ther ?

    • @DarkIsleBagpiper
      @DarkIsleBagpiper  Před 3 lety

      I’m not sure about the number being 72 but there are 9 notes. The sheet music is much easier to read if you learn by patterns.

    How can I get online lessons 🤓

  • @Dastirum

    This is just not correct. Idealy you lift the index finger and on the downfall you raise the other one(s), except to F where all fingers of the top hand move simultaneously.

    • @DarkIsleBagpiper
      @DarkIsleBagpiper  Před 3 lety +1

      This method avoids all crossing noises. Once a student has the method down then the fingers are trained to go at speed relaxed with no mistakes.
