In today's video, we're adding massive gains to my wife's BMW X7 B58!
On Modern F/G series BMWs, you have the ability to add huge power gains, by simply uploading a flash tune to your car, which changes the boost, fueling, ignition, etc, which results in huge power gains! Tuning your car is a very fun way to re-experience your car and add tons of fun to your drive! Below are the power gains from the tunes that are available on our example car, my wife's BMW X7 B58:
Stage 1 91 octane: up to 18% HP / 26% TQ
Stage 1 93 octane: up to 20% HP / 26% TQ
Stage 1 E30 octane: up to 25% HP / 30% TQ
Stage 2 91 octane: up to 24% HP / 32% TQ
Stage 2 93 octane: up to 26% HP / 32% TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane: up to 30% HP / 35% TQ
Stage 2 Racegas: up to 30% HP / 35% TQ
Stage 2+ 91 octane: up to 37% HP / 62% TQ
Stage 2+ 93 octane: up to 43%HP / 68% TQ
Stage 2+ E30 octane: up to 47%HP / 73% TQ
For this tune, we went with the basic stage 1 tune on the X7. The car comes with 335 HP and 332 FT LB of Torque. As we can see in the graph, provided by ProTuningFreaks, our gains are an 18% increase in Horsepower and 26% in Torque. That means, we're looking at power figures of 395 +/- Horsepower and 418 +/- FT LB of Torque! HUGE GAINS!

About the “voiding of warranty”. I have had 2 cars that I flashed with Bootmod3 a 2018 M2 and a 2018 340i. On the M2 I had mechanical upgrades like intercooler, complete turbo hard piping, down pipe with cat and the bootmod3 flash and took it to the dealer for years for maintenance, oil changes, brakes etc and they never said anything about anything because truly they don’t care. HOWEVER if you have mechanical issues or drive train malfunctions they will 100% try and blame your mods or flash for this. The 340i was a lease and no mechanical upgrades flashed it back to stock when I turned it in and nothing they were more worried about a stupid little scratch that I couldn’t even see unless the sun hit it just right, but they actually don’t check for a flash.
That’s amazing results! I noticed right away how fast it ran through 1st and 2nd gears. From my experience though, it’s going to get faster as it learns when you get some miles on it!

Thanks for making these videos. They're informative and cinematic. I have a 2021 740i. My wife has the X3. I have found that BMW has no aftermarket parts or allows you to make too many changes. I have added some coding to allow the boot to open and close with the fob and the interior release button. I'm looking to add the extra horsepower and get improve the brakes. BMW is notorious for brake dust and I would like to use different pads. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

This is really tempting to do w/ my 340i. It's already crazy fast enough - I can't imagine how this would feel.

Though I don't know if anyone mentioned or realizes it, if the car is still under warranty, a flash tune will void the power train warranty. As soon as a tech at a BMW dealership connects the car to the computer, it will set a red flag and the dealership along with BMW corporate will know it's been tuned.
But I know some people don't care about the warranty.

I know the answer is probably going to be no, but I thought it was worth a shot. would BootMod3 work on my N57 engine or my B47 engine? I know there’s not much diesel tuning out there especially for BMW’s.
Were any mods done on the X7 prior to the flash? I want to try this with my stock 540i MSport but curious if I should upgrade the charge pipe to do the same stage 1/91 octane map from the vid.

In general I would say that’s correct. I have a 2014 RWD 320i. I also had Keis put in aftermarket intake, charge pipe, and intercooler since I don’t trust BMW plastic after 5 years. Net result has been 0-60 from 7 secs according to press releases to a 5.38 pull. I think stock 2014 328s are mid 6s according to press. Would love to see how that improves.

So if I were to have the basic license and use a stg1 93 map but then wanted more power later I'd have to pay for the stg2 93 map even though they're both OTS?

Swear I saw a video where Kies made a new adapter that plugs right into the obd port and uses wifi/ Bluetooth so you don't have to use an ethernet cable and will work with both Apple/Android... Now I can't find it or the adopter on there website

Super late response but yes it will. The computer will notice that at some point in time it was changed and reverted

Most of the time yes, but if you revert to stock flash before you go to service some dealerships may not care but some may. Its a hit or miss tbh.

Technically bootmod3 does yes, but its up to your dealer really if they "find it" and choose to go down that path, but then they have lost revenue from big corporate, so if your not making a rice rocket your odds are better, but its best to assume doing this voids your warranty so you are not caught off guard or surprised by it.

I have a 2019 440 with MPPSK (which adds a factory tune) would i still gain enough with BootMod to make it worth it?
Yes. the MPPSK is a very conservative tune. In fact it's essentially the difference between an M-Performance model and regular car. For example the 335i and the M235i have essentially the same n55 engine (with some internal changes) but the difference in HP was due to the factory tune (About 20HP). BM3 will significantly increase HP with supporting mods.
Absolutely yes.. moving through the S1 then S2 (if you have supporting mods) is night and day differences. I took my F32 N55 to 445whp, and current M2C S55 at 505whp with the OTS S2 map. It makes a HUGE difference.

I have a 2016 x5 F15, tried bootmod3 this morning and failed a 1%. Now I can't start my car engine.. getting the warnings on the iDrive say; Drivetrain malfunction

Dumb question... Does the BootMod3 tunes adapt to lower quality fuel? Let's say if I only have 87 or 89 available. Will it know the crap out of the engine or adapt and pull timing to avoid knock?
I'm aware that If I'm traveling and I get 87, I can go easy on the engine and in theory nothing will happen, but I'm asking if it'll be safe to use even if pushing it a bit.

Bootmod3 will have tunes for your specific fuel quality off the shelf but from what I know they are typically 91 and 93 octane fuel, haven’t really seen 87 since it’s not recommended for any BMW that I’m aware of. But if you really need a tune for 87 you can get a custom tune but they can get quite expensive and I don’t think it would be worth it. At the end of the day if you can only pump 87/89 octane, i wouldn’t recommend getting a tune until you can get your hands on 91/93.
