    Cheers Owen. It has made a massive difference changing stem length. I felt like my Levo was throwing me forward, so I put a Burgtec stem reducing the length by 10mm but also replaced my stock handlebars with the Ride High 50mm bar. I feel so more planted on the bike & more in control.

    After riding my new bike with a 42.5mm stem for a month, I decided to change to a 35mm length stem.
    It feels much more responsive now and feels more balanced for my fit!

      @@joshuaallswang8016 i doubt it, i went 10 milimeters shorter on mine (can't remember the exact numbers) and the difference was quite big, it wasn't just more responsibe but i even felt like there was more feedback from the wheel, though it might be that there was more tolerance on my old stem if that's a thing.

      @@joshuaallswang8016 honestly, the bike feels a bit too long for me to handle and steer. So I tried a slightly shorter new stem and moved a spacer on the headset by 5mm. That slight tweak just added some pep to the bike and I think it’s because it’s now closer to how the bike fits me! I guess it depends on your riding style on what your style your bike is and also how it fits you!

    I have just changed my stem from 50mm to 40mm it's a massive difference! Think it depends on the stem aswell the design, I know it's exactly the same length but it doesn't seem to feel that way! I got the new V2 Funn Equaliser 40mm stem for my brand new cube stereo it needed it for me and also added Burgtec high rise 38s feels like a totally different bike now but for the better! The carbon bars on it were just to low with 27.5 wheels but the Funn stem can be used 2 ways, i can turn it round for a higher rise aswell so this is what I mean by it depends on your stem as a standard stem won't have as much of a rise as your new one so just look at your rise numbers long with the length

    The bike is a second hand focus Whistler (2016) i bought as a spare/project bike, dont know spacing at the rear and it is square taper so cant change anything there also 5:59

      the rear spacing - is easy to measure - with the wheel out - and even with an older school square taper BB theres room to adjust - Square taper bb's come in different axle lenght - so more measuring will be required but again - all sortable!

    #AskGMBNTech, I took the chain off my T-type XX drive train to give it a good clean (usually clean it on the bike) I used a new split link to refit it, I wasn’t using my bike for a few days so put it away then When I was doing my usual pre ride stuff, running through the gears etc I noticed it was getting stuck around the third gear? Had closer a look and the top of the cage was hitting the cassette! I did a few micro adjusts but didn’t really make any difference, long story short I thought I had fixed it but ended up snapping the chain, decide to take a few links out as it was broken anyway and if the chain was shorter it would pull the cage down and miss the cassette, which worked? No idea why this happened? I check for chain stretch fairly regularly and it’s completely fine and use the correct split link etc. any idea why this happened or if anyone else has had this happen?

      Did you check the derailleur placement marker was located correctly? If you've taken the rear axle out, when putting the rear wheel back in you need to make sure the derailleur is located correctly and the axle torqued correctly. This is what sets up the spacing between casette and cage.

      If you're unsure don't go max heat and it should be fine, though you could try with a MTB cleaning product wich won't damage the frame if it doesn't fully work, otherwise elbow grease and a whole lotta rubbing should also do the job, though taking a lot more effort

    #AskGMBNTech Does aluminum mountain bike rims have a maximum psi they can handle, and does it get lower the older the rim gets? Is the maximum any higher or lower for Carbon wheels? I had a Maxxis Ardent Race blow off of my now permanently damaged WTB sti25 wheel, and it was right at the maximum stated on my Maxxis tire, which led me to believe either my pump's psi reading was inaccurate, or that my rim got weaker with age.

    • @jimwing.2178
      @jimwing.2178 Před 18 dny

      Almost guaranteed that your pressure gauge is inaccurate. Find the right pressures for you by riding, then use your gauge reading for future use. The gauge will stay accurate enough relative to itself.
      The maximum psi stated on the sidewalls assumes the presence of inner tubes. Most riders who run tubeless inflate their tires FAR below the max.shown of the tire.

How 'wrong' would it be to use Sram GX deraileur and shifter with XT gear (cassette, chain, cranks, brake levers with i-spec II etc.). Whole GX set is out of the question, too pricey. You'll need aftermarket jockey wheels but SRAMano has been a thing people have done it. First gen AXS doesn't have the nicest shifting feel and T Type isn't as snappy, so a SRAMano mix is literally the best of both worlds, all while being cheaper and more durable than both.
