    Great video. Everyone is worry about talking about what they make but really the market dictates it. We don’t. You might get a little more than the next guy because of your relationship but if someone else is that much cheaper the client will go with them eventually. The market dictates It all.
    We are all in the same boat. You have to manager your costs. That is what makes you succeed in the long run.

    You're right it all depends on your location for pay, here in Idaho a dump truck like yours hired to a contractor makes $85 to $90 per hour. My tractor with a 3 axle belly dump made $105 but just recently went up to $110 per hour but our cost of living and fuel is cheaper. I have $2 million dollar insurance coverage and full coverage insurance on the tractor and trailer and it costs me $280 per month per truck and trailer combination, for $2 million and only liability costs me $235 per month. Hiring a driver I'm sure is also cheaper, you can generally hire a decent driver here for $18 to $22 per hour.

    • @kleenup2
      @kleenup2 Před 2 lety +1

      Same here in the Carolinas. No need to have anything bigger than a triaxle around here because the pay per hr doesn't really go up even if you have quads and quints. As long as I can haul 20 tons it's all the same around here. $20/hr gets you a good driver here too.

    • @83Yankee
      @83Yankee Před 2 lety +1

      @@thisismagacountry1318, “millings” refers to old asphalt that has been milled up. It is generated at repaving sites and generally hauled to a predetermined site, commonly owned by the paving company. It is usually recycled into the mixture used for new asphalt. However, a lot of companies sell their excess millings and you can make money reselling it and hauling it. It makes a decent alternative to the typical “crusher run” gravel used on driveways, and is almost always significantly cheaper.

      The problem for dump trucks in Florida is the same across all trucking platforms and I’m not going to pinpoint “exactly” what it is but those that know just kinda know. But there is a HUGE concentration of people down there (a lot of whom seem to have zero maintenance or startup cost because they simply steal their shit from someone else) that constantly underbid work and seem to be perfectly happy hauling anything for about half price. Probably because when you’ve stolen your truck, your tires, and you steal your fuel every week or buy stolen fuel for $1 a gal from your homies $55/hr is screaming profit. Just like $1.50 a mile to pull sea containers or haul produce is screaming profit. There’s zero cost of entry and little to no operating expenses and it’s literally a virus down there there are so many people doing it and they have been for decades.
