@@HilobiaIt exists only in a broad sense that doesn’t account for the position held or hours worked. Men and women in society have a tendency to work in different fields (police officer/firefighter vs. nurse, construction worker vs. teacher, janitor vs. house cleaner, etc.), and different positions/fields pay differently. That’s not even mentioning the time women tend to lose in their careers due to childbirth and child rearing, which generally exceeds that of men. These are social factors though, not institutional ones.
When it comes to equal positions and equal work, there’s no gender wage gap.

As a small business owner I have never thought, "I really want men to go up in power". I hire the most competent people I can find. That's what keeps my business healthy.

I literally went through how the pay gap works with my sister and cousin she also works at a lawfirm. They ignored everything I said and just came up with anything they could say to fight it

Like, there is a fight to eliminate the gender pay gap, but when it comes to fighting against eliminating the gap between, say, how men are given (iirc) 63% longer jail/prison terms than women... naw, that doesn't count. Even tho the economics arguments of the gender pay gap can be applied to their gender prison gap (that men serve longer terms which affect when they can get their life back in order again). Let's also not ignore how men are _expected_ to do more dangerous work like, aay, warfare.
So either we fight to get rid of all the gaps between genders (not just the pay gap), or we accept that men get paid more as a consequence that men also have to take on more dangerous work.

But there are plenty of industries where the only evidence men can do it better is that men have traditionally done it, and in those places there is still a visible lagging behind on compensation for women

Statistically women make more in the same roles held by men with $1.07 for mans $1.00; only when you factor in sahm’s and they fact that women choose industries and careers that result in lower pay IE teaching compared to engineers or that they’re 10x less likely to work overtime you get the fallacy that women earn less.

If you tell your boss that he/she can call you at any time of the day and that you'll head into work whether it's a holiday or the weekend, while your coworker tells your boss "Hey as soon as I work my 40 hours, don't try to call me in", who do you think may have a slight chance at receiving a larger raise if every other factor is the same when it comes to the work ethics of you and your coworker?
If I do a study at my job between two ethnicities and I see that my company pays the Mexican staff members more than it pays it's Jamaican staff, is there instantly an ethnic based pay gap?
Is there an ethnic based pay gap if I'm fully aware that the 10% higher hourly average of the Mexican staff is due to 25% of the Mexican staff asking for a $1 raise every 2 years while only 15% of the Jamaican staff asks for 75 cent raise every 2 years or is that a "negotiation" gap?
Don't get me wrong, biases certainly exist, but when all variables are accounted for like the disparity between men working 4 hours more than women each week on average & men being more likely to have a consistent resume & men being more willing to work overtime/weekends/holidays and night shifts, and men being more likely to negotiate, the pay disparity in the USA drops to less than 2%.
2% is easily enough to count as a statistical anomaly that can be due to misogynistic men, and due to bosses etc valuing the employee who jumps to work at any time of the day, and due to a boss having a relation to the specific employee, or simply due to the data on negotiations that's accounted for being slightly off.

Women get paid less cause they generally work less hours and don’t always do the most quality work when it comes to physical stuff. Speaking of, most would rather take the less dirty jobs and get payed less, but then proceed to complain about that said pay.

Trade jobs pay more men than women.
Modeling jobs pay more women than men.

I’m a 43 year old man with a spinal injury, arthritis in both knees, arthritis in my back, I have 90 % use of my dominant arm due to my spinal injury and will never regain 100% use ever again due to the severity. I am a team member level employee. I have coworkers 10 years younger 20 years younger than me that admit they have no physical limitations or anything, and for some reason , they get tired before I do. I do my tasks and half if not more than half of theirs while I hear them complain the work is too hard , they get paid as much as I do (starting pay for all of us is 17 an hour) they say they can’t do it. Serving , food, restocking coolers, cooking easy meals like pizza and burgers fries, stocking sodas in a cooler, clearing tables, mopping floors, sweeping floors, emptying trash cans. 2 to 4 hours into the shift, they are exhausted. I ask them how much sleep they get, 6 to 8 hours a night is what they respond with , and oh, they say they have insomnia… obviously don’t know what insomnia is. I’m lucky to get 10 hours a week because I’m in chronic pain . I work my full 8 to 10 hour shifts , yet, I’m constantly working circles around these lazy younger women. They spend most of their shift hiding in the bathroom or back rooms or outside and they are on their phones, not breaking any kind of sweat. But, they are tired and the work is too hard and they don’t get paid enough to do this type of work. Seriously?! I’m all busted up and twice your age and I’m doing my job and 2 other peoples jobs. So, if I’m doing my work and most of theirs, why should they get paid the same? Why shouldn’t I get part of their check for doing the work they avoid doing? Answer that . While anyone comes up with a good answer defending these lazy people, I’ll be going into my other job (because I work 2 jobs and yes still able to work circles around my younger female coworkers with only one job) .

Forgot about that study. I was more thinking of the study that was the most publicized pay-gap study was one in hospitals where they studied men and women that work in hospitals. They were comparing men and women without considering the jobs. Dr (higher % men) and Nurses (higher % women) where intermixed and made the men vs women be lopsided. If you used the same data set and compared male Drs vs women Drs, the women were paid more, even though they worked less and had less seniority.

Im a 61year old bricklayer and I have 45ish years in the job, I saw one woman apprentice who struggled with the weights involved and also stamina wise she was all in around 2pm but we worked to 4.30pm.

There have been multiple studies to prove how women do get paid less for the same jobs as men. like how a study in 2020 showed how people are more likely to see a mens soccer game over a women's soccer game, causing the womens soccer team to be paid less than the mens soccer team.

In my start up company we’ve been ridiculed for not having women on our team. We literally couldn’t find any that want to do the jobs we have available. As a start up there’s a risk of job insecurity and from the start only men have been willing to take the risk. Now we’re doing well and all core team are being paid well, women in our industry are berating us for not giving them the option for core roles. The people who helped us get to this position are the ones who will get rewarded first, not people who come in with the intention of having a position of power. Women, take more risks! We don’t want to build with just men but the alternative is not having staff to get to where we want to be!

After one looks at the overall picture you learn than women want all the salary and benefits of a high paying job, without any of the effort. I work in a warehouse and out of the hundreds of employees that work there the three women they hired sit in the office and flirt for hours, talk to other coworkers and take hour long breaks instead of 15 minutes like the rest of us. And the job is payed based on how many orders you do. And women still wonder why men get payed more while working the same positions. It’s not the same in every job I’m just speaking my experience
