- Join us for a fun chat with Sue Urquhart of LuluBug Jewelry. She’s been a full time smith since 2009, but she has worked in the jewelry business since 1992. Sue spent 10 years working for a couple of small manufacturers (primarily casting) and then 7 years as a designer for jewelry that was fabricated in Taxco, Mexico.
At some point Sue stopped doing her own work, but in 2007 she took a metal clay class, which got her back into making again. She opened an Etsy shop on a whim in 2008 with zero expectations, and less than a year later she quit her design job to run Lulu Bug Jewelry full time and she’s been doing that ever since.
Sue loves to travel (current obsession: Oaxaca) and she used to race motorcycles (for fun) but gave it up when she became self employed.
Sue lives in Santa Rosa, California with her partner Kelly (he's a transmission mechanic and helps her quite a bit) and 3 cats and Pit Bull named Debbie.
Come visit with us as we explore her art, her inspiration, her tips for marketing and selling, and her passion for creating.
Wow!! So inspiring! So much to take in, best part, was how much fun and adventures she has! I took away, make, commit time, even when you don’t know what you want to do, just make circles or jump rings....elements you will sure use one day. Great video.
