  • Join us for a fun chat with Merry-Lee Rae. She has been making cloisonne for 45 years. When she first began, there weren't many books or instructors. While others were closely guarding their secrets, she became technically fluent in the art of cloisonne. Systematically breaking the rules, she came up with my own way of doing things by making thousands of pieces. Now, at 67 years old, a great deal of her energy is spent mentoring and teaching rather than producing. She is an enthusiastic endorser of sharing and passing along her knowledge. She is generous and giving which ensures her knowledge will live on. Enamel is a very old art and will stick around for centuries, so you owe it to yourself to learn as much about the process. She wants her students to take the skills and make it their own. Her work tells a story about the person she is and she believes yours should as well. Come visit with us and learn from her. Learn her story, her inspiration, her tips for marketing and selling and her passion for creating. It’s a great use of your time and energy in the circle of giving and receiving.

What a wonderful interview! I came away with a confirmation that some pieces that we don't finish, might be the end of a lesson we needed to learn, part of the journey. I also agree with her whole hearty about Guillermo Del Toro as a visionary artist, I fell in love with him in "The Devil's Backbone". She has so much knowledge, I will be taking her online class and hope one in person! Thank you both Tonya Davidson and Merry-Lee Rae.
