- Sorry this one took me so long guys I've been having a really hard time editing with one arm but I'm this one is finally here! Today I showcase the progression I've made with my brand new roller skates. New skate day!! I wanted to do a little bit more with this video but this is all the footage I had before my accident.

So I really want to get good at skating, I want to do all the cool tricks I see people do with the quads at the skate park but I was wondering if I could do the same for Inlines?
M K yes for sure! I mainly ride Inlines and I can do everything on them, check out my tutorials playlist in the description I made a whole bunch that should really help you get started!
@@Skating_Squid thank you so much
It's not hard if you practice anything you'll get good at it
Actually it's surprisingly easy unlike inline skates, you just use your weight to move and do tricks instead of pushing
same but the opposite
This man said unsuccessful and then proceeded to skate miles better than I did after months of trying
I’m sorry 😭😭😭
@@Skating_Squid lol it’s ok I’m going to keep trying maybe one day I’ll be as good as you 😁
@@bambida1st I believe in you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@Brandon King I am. He’s still better tho
@Brandon King day 5 of learning quad (first days) im starting to skate like squids unsuccessful one xd
The weirdest experience I had was going from a loose-ankled quad boot (roller skating) to trying to ice skate in an artistic boot! I couldn't bend my ankles and it drove me nuts!!! I feel your pain, man. The tiniest differences can make you feel like you're put back 3 levels! But you seemed to transition fairly smoothly! 👍
Guys do you think we could try for 25 likes?! 🙏🏼 let’s try and hit it! 😁
Homie was like put your phone up 😂😭
CoolBoyClick I know right didn’t even have a chance 😭😂
I used to have inline skates but i got a pair of quads and it's pretty hard getting used to 4 wheels by each other and my struggle was i kept leaning forwards on my front wheels leading me to fall lol
XxTiaxX yeah that’s the same exact issue I had! You’ll get used to it after a while just takes a bit of time 🦑🦑
I keep falling backwards! My brakes on my inlines were on the back of both my skates but with my quads I keep falling backwards on my ass lol. If I ever lost my balance and started falling backwards on my inlines, my brakes would touch the ground and I'd regain balance very quickly. I didn't have the same problem with falling forward anyway, I only fell when actually doing some stuff with inlines, with the quads I fall when I'm simply rolling. I wasn't that great with my inlines bc I hadn't been skating for that long but now it definitely feels like I'm a total noob again. It's fine though, it's fun learning something from scratch
Not gonna lie you're lucky for only falling fowards, falling backwards right on your tailbone is a pain!
That person (pretty sure it was a random kid) in the background was EVERYTHING!! Also I’m glad you don’t think that quads suck lol
Finally a description of the FEEEL 💛
🦑🦑🦑
I'm quad skating for the first time ever tonight. So excited. Got my quads from a thrift store. Put new insoles on them, cleaned them up, and put some bones reds in the wheels. If i like them, I'm painting them and eventually building my own custom dr martens quads. Currently only ever had cheap recreational inlines. Will eventually get a pair of urban tri skates.
How'd it go?
@@Radish1875 it was fun other than the fact that the bushings and pivot cups were dry rotted and my one skate wanted to keep turning out. Backwards was a challenge. I already ordered the parts through amazon. My wheels are a bit too soft for indoors, so next week i'm going to change them to a harder wheel
Damn u do be rocking blades and roller skates
I'm an inline speed skater but when I put quads on it was fairly easy.
Much people would find the transition difficult so dont be scared peeps.
Ruby Rushforth definitely! The transition was quick for me it’s wayyyyy easier than Inlines for sure!
@@Skating_Squid yes they are and if you go onto speed skates it's actually harder to stand up then normal inline's
having started on quads, and being able to pick up inlines very quickly. this was very amusing to me
I like those jumps, like deconstructed Axels from figure skating! The one thing with figure skating (ice or inline) I loathe is that orthodox approach like "it has to be so and so"....giving it that urban edgemakes it so much cooler! Like the guys from Patin Libre (Canada), it's more fun than the strict and often boring figure skating routine.
don't forget artistic roller skating the other cousin of the ice and inline figure skating
but ye this urban version of the axel make things more free and dynamic, even that i still appreciate the cleaness of a well landed axel
I sir am very jealous of your skating abilities 😂, I'm in my 40's and has always loved roller skating but never really put on a pair..UNTIL last yr. I just hope with time and practice I'll be half as good.
DJ Gee-Q ayyye I appreciate that! Never too late to start, just be careful haha I’m sure if you stick with it you’ll get good in no time, good luck! 🦑🦑
@@Skating_Squid thanks bro, I'll keep at it for sure. I'll even send you all my hospital bills so and your friends can have a good laugh😂😂
Just always bend your knees lol you'll have a much easier time staying upright
I'm an inline skater and considering of getting a new pair of quad skates for dancing for the first time. Thanks for your first experience video.
I used to love aggressive Incline skating but now my body can't handle doing that anymore from all that I've put it through , but rink skating looks like alot of fun, trying to decide if I should try something new and learn quads. I'd definitely need solid ankle support if I did
Smooth transition to quads!
4:50😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Gotta love when the kids fall 💀💀
I'm an inline skater but I want to get I into quads but I'm so scared of how hard it's going to be
leigh duignan I would go for it! I didn’t think i was going to learn so fast but it took no time at all!! And I actually have grown to like them a lot 😁
leigh duignan if you’ve skated for more than a year then I’d say you’ll have no issues but it will be different ! 😂
It's going to be weird not being able to put my weight on the back of my foot lol but thank you
leigh duignan no problem haha let me know how it goes!
It is a little harder, im a quad skater and was surprised how easy inline's are when i tried them but quads are not that hard to pick up and they are far more versatile, you'll love them once you master it :)
This is so dope and idk why I’m really enjoying this makes me want to roller skate more but it finally started raining
Thank you so much, dang yeah rain is the worst
Just came across your channel as I myself am also an inline skater (aggressive and slalom) that is dabbling in quad skating. Been having trouble finding the right tightness of my trucks and finding the happy medium. Subscribed!
Meester Champ hey that’s great I appreciate that! And I have the same exact issue, no idea what to make right or loose! I guess I just have to ride them more and figure out my preference
Skate a few circuits and then tighten the kingpin nut by half a turn on each truck and skate again, repeat till you find what works for you.
There is no 'Right' setting, some prefer them loose and soft bushings whilst others like myself have the hardest bushings i could find and have them tight, its a matter of personal preference.
i have my fronts tighter than my backs, i prefer the way it makes my skate handle but that comes down to skating style and posture.
I want to try inlines SO bad. I have quads and I enjoy them, I feel like rollerblading might be so hard 😂 I need to buy some to test it out
Some of the tricks look more of a skate park kind of trick, but really cool all of it!
I like rollerblade but I love quad skates way better than rollerblade. Because rock are expensive and hurts my feet. While quad skates doesn't hurt my feet and it was stand still perfectly on my feet while wearing on it. I love skating.
Dtt159 yeah they are way easier to balance! I love them both 😁🦑
im really good at both ive been using quads the most because there more co fortable for me and quads are just so fun to use but i cant go as fast
I like my roller skates. I didn't like the roller blades.
You're doing really well.
Thank you I actually love both of them now! 🦑😁🦑
I love going inline blading
Wow this guy is So good...I can only dream!!!
Thank you! 🦑
I got the same wheels and bearings as you
Bro roller skates are so much more easy for me (ive never tried roller blades but idk if i want to)
Yoooo Maryland gang!!! I've been skating for about a month now and finally am getting good I love skating wish there was a skating rink closer to my house I live in southern. St.marts county
Ayeee nice I’m in somd as well 🦑🦑🦑
I skated on quads for 4 years now switched to inline
This is so crazy because I go to that exact store, its in district heights
Blackhippy812 yeah it’s a great place! 😁
Is that smaller rink at Temple Hills also? I haven't been there since it was Skate Palace. 🤣
Haha no the smaller rink was filmed at the Waldorf skating rink haha I know the video was a little confusing 😂 I actually have video reviews of both rinks on my channel if you wanna check them out 😁🦑
Quality content
mizune9 thank you that means a lot! 😁
hi can i ask what quad skates and wheels/bearings you got? thanks for this vid, i was really curious how well inline skills would carry over to quad skating :) very inspiring!
Thuan Nguyen thank you! I use the riedell 120 boot with roller bones 101a wheels 😄 the bearings are just reds bones hope this helps !
Going from inline to quads is pretty challenging but if you’re an advanced skater it shouldn’t take too long to learn!
Skating Squid thanks so much!! i was leaning towards getting Riedell and this really helps my decision! :)
Thuan Nguyen glad I could help, have fun let me know how it goes 😄
Skating Squid it might not be for a little while cos im still working on improving my inline skills and getting used to my my new FRX 310, (im love with the triwheels!), but i am planning on getting quads later on! :) ill let u know how it goes!
Cool video....i dig it...i grew up shredding on quads, switched to inline for many years, then a few years ago (5) I started urban quad skating...i love love love it man..
thank you! and ayeee thats awesome welcome back, urban skating is the best!
You were at my skating rink... That's where I'm taking skating lessons... And I bought my skates from bikes n skates too
DWA Consulting ayeee nice! Waldorf is my home rink haha that’s where I skate the most 😁😁🦑
Haha that's funny I live in Waldorf but drive out to Temple Skating Rink for the lessons. I don't think Waldorf give skating lessons I wish they did it's less the 10 minutes from me.. I've only been to Waldorf Skating once but they were nice there.
DWA Consulting yeah crystals is my second rink I like that one more for when I wanna show out. Some of the best skaters in the world up there, that’s where I really learned how to skate skate 😂
I know this isn’t related but that roller rink looks like the one I used to go to. Is it Waldorf skate center?
Yes this is what the Waldorf rink used to look like! 🦑😁
How well do you think the wheels could handle being used outside?
Daisy B you could get away with it but I wouldn’t recommend unless you have outside specific wheels. If you can find an outdoor skating pavilion or maybe tennis courts that would be the best place since it’s smooth. As long as you stay in very smooth surfaces you can skate outside !
Quads are absolutely fine outside, they are more agile than inline skates, just run 78A wheels (i use nothing else indoors or out) and start on reasonably smooth outdoor surfaces first but you'll soon be skating on rough pavement without a problem and it just requires more physical effort than a smooth even surface.
Yes, 78A (softer) wheels make a world of difference. I have Atom Pulse 78A's for outdoors, and Radar Riva 96a's for indoors. It was SO worth it!
take them to the park!
I cant even balance in quads, let alone skate with them. Unlined have just always been easiest for me and they are much more supportive than quads.
Dude i've had quads for two years now all i've got is balance
teach me your ways (TT)
@Malchite just takes consistent practice and attempt to learn new tricks! I do have some tutorial videos in the description that might be able to help 🧡🦑
I purchases my daughter some skates today but I'm way into this bottle of whiskey too watch this guys go in circles! Lmaobvs😷😷😷😜😂😂
@asham LOL dont worry I'm half a bottle deep with you right now brother! 😂
@@Skating_Squid hilarious!😄😄😄
Actually, roller skated only for like two months and then I didn’t like it but I’m starting to like skating again I know I can’t make up my mind
I low key stopped skating bc of your arm. Last time I went out and had fun was the last video we made if it’s not me going and coming from work I don’t even be out there like that.
aaron griggs damnnnn bro, don’t get rusty! Let’s try and link up this weekend or soon and we can make a new video I got some fun ideas and I’ll just film
Skating Squid I can’t be because my phone still broke I’ll be getting a new one on the 27th. I been on this trash PC for a month now.
aaron griggs damn we call when you get the chance haha I haven’t talked to you in forever it feels like lls
Would u recommend quad or aggressive skates for ramp tricks
Joe Ames hey joe thanks for the comment, I’d definitely recommend aggressive skates for ramp tricks! It’ll be much easier to land tricks and you have a wider variety of tricks you can do because most aggressive skates have grind plates! :) hope this helps
Skating Squid it did thank u
FYI quad skates are the OG of skating. They paved the way for skate boards and inline skates.
That's not entirely accurate...quads, inline, and skateboarding came up on different tracks. It is true quads came before either inline or skateboards (barely). Skateboarding borrowed the wheels from roller-skating technology. But skateboarding is the direct offspring of Surfboarding; surfers wanted a way to practice surfing outside of the water.
In-lines were invented in the 1700 by John Joseph Merlin, a Belgian inventor. This would have been around the same time as quad skates were invented. The modern inline skating craze however took its inspiration from ice skating, because the wheels line up like the blade of an ice skate, and in particular speed skating...initially speed skaters latched onto inline skates as a way to practice speed skating while they were off the ice...and it became a thing.
Roller-skating was big as recreation in the 1930's, 40's and 50's. But because the technology was so bad: wooden or metal wheels (and the wooden ones were the good ones) and plates that had to be screwed onto you street shoes, it was never as big as it is now. Mostly kids were the ones who roller-skated, and then they mostly did it on the sidewalks. The few rinks that existed, only played organ music, which was hard to hear over the noise of the metal wheels. So the skating fad died out until the 1970's when skateboards came out with polyurethane wheels. (Yes, skateboards came out with that first.) Skate parks started springing up all over the world, Then some enterprising business executive realized the roller-skate industry was missing out on something big and slapped the polyurethane wheels onto a pair of roller skates and mass produced them, bringing the roller-skating craze back front and center.
what kind of skates of those and what size wheels are they
Riedell 120 skates! Can’t remember the wheel size sorry.
I like how he found love at 09:10
Lmao that’s my friend and out here it’s a style to skate together it’s called snapping 😆💀
Haha yeah, just kidding! X
I'm switching to inlines anything I should be prepared for?
It shouldn’t be too hard but your ankles and feet will hurt a lot until they get stronger!
can i get them online ?
What kind of roller skates are those bro?
yooo, these are the Riedell 120 boot! I changed the wheels to a slightly harder one than what came with the skates (:
Skating Squid thank you bro, will try to grab a pair today💪🏽💪🏽
O Montana ayeee that’s epic! Let me know how it goes 🦑🦑
i’m pretty good at quads but i want to learn in-line
Kayla Christiansen you got this! 🦑🦑
@@Skating_Squid ty :)
What quad skates do you use
Riedell 120!
@@Skating_Squidcan you skate well with the wheels it comes with ?
jk good video!
fadedP haha appreciate it! 🤣
What wheels did you end up using?
@john I use the roller bones wheels! 😁🦑
@@Skating_Squid Did you try the Rivas the skates came with?
@@johnniebwoy no I have not tried them actually
As an inline person i just cant with quads lol they feel like bricks and you cant turn very sharp :/
What were the hardness of the wheels?
90a! 😁🦑
@@Skating_Squid 👍🏾 thanks
Should have got a pair of jam skates. Not a boot. The setup is 10x better . Also you got outdoor wheels for a wood floor. Get yourself a pair of alloy sure grips
It's not that hard bc my dad bought me both so
Now at the age 12 I mastered both ❤
What type of quads are they
Riedell 120's!
Same, its harder with quads
Which quads did you get
Riedell 120 uptown skates
Hi my sisters friend again 👁👄👁✨
What kind of skates are those quads
They are called Riedell 120 uptown’s!
@@Skating_Squidcan you use the wheels they come with to skate like that ?
That backwards hockey stop hurt my soul. Please never stop on the corner of your wheels like that. It’s so bad for your skates and the floor.
How did you make it look SO easy tho 😭
Gracie you got it, only takes a few weeks of practice! But being a inline skater for so many years helps a lot, good luck 😁🦑
Quads are more for showing off and in-lines are more for speed.
depend on the kind of in-lines
slalom and figure ones are for showing off too
aggressive ones who exist for acrobatic tricks too
To me quad skates are harder to turn,go fast,or balance (just me) me:try turning with quads *don’t know how to turn with quads* “bumps into a street light pole”
Awe haha yeah I’ve noticed that as well. Turns are very tricky but your balance is a lot easier on quads
Quads aren't as fast, evidenced by how inlines have dominated speed skating. Quads are more stable side to side but less so forward to back due to the short wheelbase. I've been skating on quads since the 70s (yes I'm kind of old :)). Tried transitioning to inlines but I didn't like them. I couldn't get them to turn.
They got that white boy out there snapping
Haha this was some light work too I’m much better now! 💪🏻🦑
@@Skating_Squid looking good out there bro
6:34 what was that im scared
fruit booter turned disco
I'm an old school roller skater and that rink is absolutely miserable looking and super small
awe haha its not the best but I still have a good time
Lot's of places have no rinks. I guess it's a lot better than nothing, right?
Toby’s right. I’d be super happy to have a rink to skate in at all- all the ones near me closed down.
What’s a professional inline skater?
gasmanrus idk lol it just seemed good for a video title 😂
Professionals get paid to do what they do. Like a pro basketball player is payed to play ball.
Hmm I get paid by CZcams from my skating videos so that means I’m technically professional 🤔🤣
Put on some OGs and you’ll never look at inlines again
I know one day I’d love to get a pair haha they are so expensive tho 😭😂
Keep doing what you do Memphis tapping in Follow back
Appreciate that bro I got you 💪🏻
Quads are skating.. inlines are some weird things can't do anything cool on them
Haha then you need to see some more of my videos cause I can do a lot of cool things on my Inlines
@@Skating_Squid ya I seen your vids I'm a jam skater so what we do is way different but your doing good on 4s
@@ejocean3351 thank you 🙏🏼
its inline skating, rollerblades are a brand who make inlines, not a type of skate
Steve Fox thanks Steve! I definitely understand that but for sake of the CZcams algorithm I used rollerblader since it’s become synonymous with skating similar to “band-aid” for adhesive bandages
@@Skating_Squid saw your trying quads in the comments and said about truck tightness, find that comment and you'll see one from me about setup of quad trucks but there is no correct way and it's personal preference :)
Saw that appreciate it!
@@Skating_Squid also, i saw you mention about quads and skating outside, with 78A wheels its absolutely fine, i only skate on wheels that soft anyway irrespective of surface as i like the grip and dont use hard wheels on the rink :)
WTF and what kinda of rink will tell you put your 📱 up GTFOH aye come to Chicago that will NEVER happen and what we do 💯🅿️🤦🏿♂️
A pro buying plastic frames ? Lol
I didn’t want to wait for the metal ones and the skate came as is I couldn’t buy it custom 🥲
Quads are unnatural - inline skater
😭😭😭😭
inline sucks, skateboarding actually takes skills ;)
Okay 😂😭
@@Skating_Squid i watched most of the video and what you were doing there does take skills at least i think more than inline but what do i know xd
I do both and these take skill too lmao , all that matters is if we're having fun
