Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever does well to honor the passing of King T'Challa and Chadwick Boseman. And another thing it does well is handled the Superman Dilemma Problem, in which a movie suffers when the hero side is too strong and overpowered. In the last Even though Wakanda is a powerful nation with an exclusive resource metal, Vibranium, as well as suits and weapons made from it, it's made compelling with a few nifty screenwriting tricks. In today's Film Perfection, let's see how. MCU seems to be struggling a bit currently, especially with early talks about Ant-Man Quantumania but they can still get things very right!

I want to believe, that youâll make Everything Everywhere All At Once video.
Can you at least mention this movie in your book?

@Filmento Out of curiosity, is* there any way that the book could come in a physical form? (Paper back, or Hardback copy, rather then an E-book)
Will you be making a physical copy?
The CGI from Davy Jones is better than Marvels today.
Davy Jones is CGI masterpiece which took time, meanwhile current CGI is just treated as product and not art
Itâs like marvel doesnât even care at this point. They treat CGI like a joke
What studio is that...?
Just watched Ant Man Quantomania yesterday, gotta be some of the worst cgi the mcu has ever produced
Obviously? You know how expensive it was to animate Davy Jones? Disney just donât got that amount of budget right now because of that fucked up releasing schedule
I love that he conceptualized an entire movie plot just for an ad segue. Truly genius
This is how ad integration can be done right.
It didn't even see the ad coming, the segue was so genius! We need youtubers who do that kind of segue more and not just plunk it into the script of their episode, and then joke about how bad their segue was.
Truly a masterpiece of sponsor Integration.

The "You bald headed demon" comment had me fcking rolling đđđ
Small correction. M'Baku is the best character in _both_ movies.
@@LadyAstarionAncunin He is the king?
@@LadyAstarionAncunin Nah, I wanted Man-Ape not joke-cracking MâBaku
@@Beastinvader yeah. Shuri is just the black panther and decided to give the throne to M'Baku
The thing about the general being removed is that the Queen was right to do it. Her past choices and actions got thrown back in her face by the queenâs relatable rage. It was cool to see some consequences and some nuance. Sheâs a hero but sheâs not perfect and it was great to see that explored.
That was a really great scene. At first when she fires her, everyone on screen and in the audience is like "What the fuck? The queen has lost it". Then the queen gives her argument and you realize she hasn't lost it at all, in fact she makes a shit ton of sense.
I think it was an amazing and severely underrated scene that perfectly subverts sexist tropes often used in writing to create drama. Having a female character do dumb shit to move the plot or create drama and use her emotional state as an excuse. It perfectly tied into the broader theme that the movie was exploring with the Queen not being respected by the world and her people because she isn't a "King" despite being just as capable and intelligent as any man could be given the circumstance.
When she took the âI have given everything â and flipped on her I was like god damn that was powerful
@@AnilSingh-qb7iu the queen rejected the suggestion at first. it was okoye that insist on bringing shuri along. since okoye was the one that suggest and insist on it, its her responsibility to ensure that shuri will be fine.
Made complete sense. I don't know how many rational folks keep using failed tactics over and over.
Then you have the girl version of Tony Stark constantly killing police officers in different countries in her Kmart Iron Man suit. No consequences there whatsoever. I like the concept of consequences for actions, but you have to deliver them evenly and not have your new âheroesâ murder people in cold blood and expect the audience to think they are heroes.
I once heard that the guy who wrote the plot of Black Panther 2 originally wrote it after the 1st film was released. However, because of Boseman's death he rewrote the story to be about Suri dealing with the aftermath of losing her brother.
That's hell of a production hellhole if that's the case
@Just some guy who loves Berserk
Nah, production hell is where the people on top keep changing the directors, writers, and story DURING production. Example case, star wars and dcu movies.
Dead actors are easy to replace. Hollywood been doing it for years. Recast, minor change, or just cgi it.
And recasting T'challa was not an option because why again? They can keep the character AND pay respect to the actor at the same time you know...
Should've recasted him

It's so painful every time FIlmento brings Batman V Superman and just improve the story with theoretical bits that would have been amazing in the original movie. In my mind that is how I imagine the timeline

For people like me a mixture of smart critique and entertaining content is what we're looking for, but in the end I wouldn't want you to make content you dislike so I'd prefer if you made your videos with the tone you feel more comfortable with
Much agreed. I love film and the act of story telling but am not a student of the myriad arts therein. Truly enjoy these breakdowns with the cringey jokes but, it wasn't the cringey jokes that first pulled me in. Hope he just finds a way to continue producing on a footing he can balance on.
I mean, he's trying really hard to do a good job of reviewing a modern Disney/"Marvel" movie. Which in and of itself is trying to put a shitty movie in a decent light.
So just by doing that he's already doing most of the modern marvel fans a favor. And based on your comment it's really obvious that you aren't somebody who knows anything about film.
All the great things about Wakanda Forever as far as I'm concerned:
- The opening scene
- Angela Bassett's performance
- Ludwig Goransson's music
- The mid-credit scene
And Shuri's arc.
@@suezcontours6653 shuriâs arc is trash. Literally no development in her character at all besides the fact that she finally stop thinking the world revolves around her and then by some miracle she finds a way to become the next black panther without ever doing anything meaningful to earn it. If he wasnât dead and they were just killing off tâchalla for the sake of naming shuri the next black panther, you would bash this movie just like I am now.
Itâs sad that Chadwick boseman died, but whatâs even sadder is the missed opportunity to at least give him Paul Walker treatment. Instead of shuri meeting killmonger , it should of been tâchalla!! But no, all they decided to do was show flash back scenes of him in the previous movies. This movie was not only trash, but completely shit on what Chadwick boseman built with the black panther name.
I still have a problem with the plot hole of Shuri not dying from the spear she ate through her spine, at least she would be paralyzed from a blow with so much force it went through the suit twice, yet Killmonger dies from a small dagger in the side. Superman armor has nothing on that kind of plot armor.

Best way to break the Superman problem:
A) emotional vulnerability
B) Someone or something else is at stake
C) learning to control invincibility
D) battle of court of public opinion
Or in short, Invincible.
Thatâs⊠actually genius.
E) Use a villain who can hurt Superman with or without Kryptonite not named Lex Luthor or General Zod

Feedback: (Personal opinion).
I think 50/50 content between education and memes is pretty balanced and enjoyable. If you do an 80/20 on any of those propositions, people are going to get bored or saturated.
But, if you go for the podcast, it might take you too much time to do the editing part on your main channel. You gotta have that in mind!
Also, for the podcast, good idea! But like you said, might people not be quite interested, and worse if you don't show a "recognized" screenwriter, what you could do is engage the videogame industry on your podcast.

This ainât no questions for this video. I am very excited to read your book as soon as possible when I buy it someday after itâs released. Iâm no CZcamsr, but I am going to be a good writer someday. Thank you so much and we still love you 10,000! â€
Love your film analysis, love the comedy. Hope that you make the best choices.
A good breakdown, but hey-
*doesnât change the fact that this movie wasnât that great*
I love the jokes and educational aspects so a balance sounds amazing! I will stay tuned for more great videos and the book sounds amazing.
In all honesty man, I find your channel to be one of the best in the entirety of CZcams. Often your content feel just right. I have watched a ton of your videos and only few of them I have ever felt they are light on the educational content side, so, well, I find your current content just perfect.
Which only leaves expanding. Podcast could be an option but like you said, it would be hard to get guests. The only thing I can think of, which I would love to see and watch, since I'm interested in writing, is a series were you tackle writing a script from the ground up. Let's say, you assume you just got the job to write the next Pirates of the Caribbean, and you start a video series were you go and do that, pulling all the lessons you have posted over the years and how they influence your writing the script. I would love to see this because this would allow me to see how many of these lessons connect with each other in ways that even I haven't thought about. Hope you consider this idea.
The news of your book is just great! I have to ask though, is it possible to get the book outside of the Amazon Kindle ecosystem? I don't want the book tied to my account if possible. Yes, it is convenient and all that, but I don't want to rely on my internet connection to read and consult it when I needed. Hope you consider open other means to get it, I will support your Patreon if when the time comes you decide to make it available through there.
Iâd love to have a physical copy of that book.
I study cinematography, and itâs mostly because of you, mr. Filmento; you have helped me to understand why I love the movies I love so much, and why I leave the theatres with discontent whenever they break the rules.
I will acquire a copy, count on that.
Though Iâd love to have a physical, it would be like god giving a bible to a cleric himself.
I love you. Filmento, you inspired me
Don't know if it's an unpopular opinion. But I didn't like Wakanda forever.
Honestly itâs pretty divided So I wouldnât call it an unpopular opinion
It is popular. I didn't love it but it somehow worked though the plot hole is just too glaring imho.
Yeah it was boring. I watched the whole video thinking it was a disaster.
@@frenchboi6826 Pretty much, incels don't like it but actual movie enthusiasts who can look at a film objectively are pretty okay with it - they criticize the Marvel aspect about it. Mainstream movie goers will see a blockbuster without looking too deep into it
@@AshwiniR.007 Incels found it boring because they can only endear themselves to hetero muscular characters - ironically something that they aren't themselves. Women don't like action, they prefer the emotional aspects and Shuri being the protagonist is the reason why mostly white nerds can't really empathize.
Thank you so much for the book! It's what I've been looking for! đ
Love the podcast idea. I love the balance between entertainment and educational in your videos, it's spot on. Keep up the good work.
Hello! The book is a great addition, definitely going to buy it right away. Your lessons are pure gold. As for your channel, I like basically every video you put out and the comedy acts as a counterweight to the knowledge being taught, so I'd say keep that. It's part of who you are (in this medium)
BP2 was a sad, pathethic mess.
Filmento, I love your videos. I love watching entertaining film critiques in general such as pitch meetings and cinema sins but I watch you the most because Iâm guaranteed to learn something new every time. I genuinely enjoy the way you analyze films and teach us how to tell better stories. Your jokes are always welcome too. I would personally still be engaged in a 100% fact based, no nonsense, educational video from you but your humor is smart and fresh. I think your humor sprinkled in with your knowledge of film is why youâve grown so quickly as a channel. I just clicked over from watching your new transformers video and it was another home run. Iâm excited for your new wave of videos.
Congratulations! I'll definitely be getting your book. I've been a fan for several years.
i love your breakdowns, the humour is also great especially when you tried the suicide squad openings for LOTR, gold stuff, i would like for it be there.
I've been enjoying your channel for more than a year and will continue to enjoy it because of the following reasons:
I have no education or proper knowledge about filmmaking, because it's not my field of work. So when I watch a bad movie and don't enjoy it, I can't tell why. I don't have the proper knowledge to understand what the issues were and how they could have been handled better, unless they were basic film-making stuff.
You have that knowledge, and you share it. Not only that, but you don't suger-coat things either. Most people (when reviewing content) lean towards the positives. So if a movie is bad, they say it's average, if it's average, they say it's good, etc. You are part of the smaller group that tell it how it is. If a movie is crap, you're not afraid to say it's crap.
So not only are you honestly reviewing the movies, but also sharing the knowledge with us to understand why it's bad, what the issue is and how could it have been improved. Even though I'm not going to be making any movies, I still find the videos fun and educational, because it raises my general knowledge and provides me with a few tips that bleed into other media (like Video Game storytelling) which I can use.
These two factors are why I enjoy your channel so much and am always waiting for the next video. đ„đ„đ„
There can never be another channel like yours, you're that unique to me.
(Also I like your humor).
That was one of the smoothest add transition I've ever seen. props to you sirđ
I'm so excited to read your book. Only on page 11 now, but I can already tell I'm gonna be churning these pages up. Your insight has been extremely helpful in my writing adventure. Thank you for printing it in book form.
I like your comedy. You never fail to make me laugh. However, I value your insight into the art of screenwriting more. I don't have strong feelings about what the balance _should_ be. But, if one will overpower the other, I'd probably rather have more of your insight, over more of your comedy.
Everything you just said is exactly why Wakanda forever is a masterpiece.
Hey, Filmento! I'm a new sub who stumbled across your Pirates series and as a fellow film industry member I agree with them 100%. Don't bee too harsh on yourself , the content I have seen so far has been great and well done you for working on Television. Keep at it and do what your gut wants. (Podcasts are a lot of time and effort but incredibly rewarding if you think its for you) Good video. Also please more COD Blackops lol
Hey filmento(if u see this)! I donât ever comment on videos, but I just want to say that youâre my #1 comfort CZcamsr. Iâm not a writer, but I do get a lot of enjoyment from your videos and I think the humor is a big part of the channelâs charm/make the videos more engaging and rewatchable. Donât stress about content going downhill- ive been watching for years and I still look forward to every video :)
This aged like fine milk
Wut?
Well it didn't really age much in 32 minutes
more like it came out expired
@@erizorico Wakanda Forever is better than No Way Home. Sorry nerds but in a decade the new generation will look at that and wonder why it was hyped. At least with Wakanda they acknowledged the actor is dead so it fits. But no one will be attached to the original Spiderman movies with Willem Dafoe and its gonna look like a random insert.
@@rockargen9591 No Way Home is the most spoiled milk ever
I love your Videos because they are educative and funny. I love the tyler1 audios at the perfect moment. Still laughing my a** up when i see that tenet video where you perfectly summarize why the finale didnt work and suddenly hearing tyler1 screaming while all the soldiers are mindlessly shooting đđ please keep your funny/cringey style
So happy to see another video! I would like to see a public discord server! Also can't wait for the book! I think the balance of goofiness and lessons is actually perfect.
I am in the middle of writing an Action/Crime series that includes a protagonist team who obtains heightened strength/durabity suits (inspired by the real strength enhancing Warrior Web suits DARPA's been developing) and recently have been trying to understand how effective they should be, what limits it can have, how much does the team rely on them, etc. You uploaded this at the right time on my end, your commentary on this movie is perfect for helping me. Thank you. đ
Wakanda Forever and FIlm Perfection should not be in the same line
There is no Superman problem. There is a writer problem Superman has countless enemies who can give as good as he gets, yet when we finally get a strong villain (Zod)the masses bitched about the destruction.
It's not even an issue with Zod, the problem was that the movie completely forgot that Superman doesn't like civilians getting killed, he saves the pilots but IMMEDIATELY GETS *TONS* of people killed by fighting Zod in a populated city, the gas station, several buildings, a chemical plant, ect. There's a scene where Zod throws a car that was driving on the road at Superman, HE DODGES THE CAR and it blows up and Superman doesn't even think about it but when Zod shoots lasers at a random family inside a building THEN like magic the writers remembered Superman is supposed to care about civilians
Superman should have forcefully made Zod fight him somewhere where there's no people but again the writers (and Zach Snyder) are absolute morons with this stuff , even Dragon Ball Z has scenes where they lure the enemies into empty areas so they DON'T get civilians killed
Definitely
â@@Arcademan09 Having a character like Superman worry about civilians is a great way of solving "the Superman problem".
I'm not attacking Filmento here because the idea he's talking about is very common but people have been solving since "the Superman problem" for decades. If that problem actually existed it's highly unlikely that Superman stories would have been published in a variety of media continually since April 1938.
@@Arcademan09 So your suggesting superman should take his attention away from the guy causing all the destruction in the first place?
Secondly we saw him save people whenever possible anyway
@@jammygamer8961 you need to rewatch it and look at the ones he gets killed, specifically the car full of people, he just dogged it and it explodes. There's also the people inside buildings that he collapsed, even if he didn't collapse buildings he sure as hell didn't stop and think about it, he just kept doing it until the city literally looked liked the aftermath of 9/11 x 1000
I love your content already, I'm a scriptwriter myself and your videos often teach me really valuable lessons that I apply in my writings. If you're pondering what to do for this year, just keep delivering excellent videos like this one. The podcast, however, sounds like a perfect fit for you, go and pursue it!
What ever you decide to do will be amazing. I have learned so much about how to write a story. Because you talk about just about everything, I can take a step back and see why the things I wrote is or could be bad and why. So I change it for the better. Keep up the great work. You deserve so much more then the 750k subs you have now
Any day Filmento uploads is a good day.
I love the comedy you put on top of educational stuff actually. You are doing a great job.
Im actually quite interested in the book, even as a guy who isnt a filmmaker/director/screenwriter etc, because watching many of your videos have helped shape my understanding of movies and TV a lot, sometimes i can mentally nitpick a scene or entire movie as im watching it, something i never really did a lot before..
As for extra content, the podcast sounds like a great idea too! Looking to see this channel grow even more man đ€đ€
