    Thanks!
Almost the same as my experience. Whenever I feel I do the same mistake as you, I try to "not coil" which surprisingly fixes it. Even if think I only go forward, and forward, the muscle memory makes sure I turn enough but not too much. Seems like it's the same kind of thought as yours here.

Huge shout out to @dgspindoctor for introducing me to Leon's channel!
Last year I've been going through form change after form change. Feeling like I've made improvements and learned what my mistakes were, yet no tangible progress. I haven't played better, I haven't thrown further (max distance was 89m).
Then Leon repeated (for the hundredth time) "staying loose".
I went out to the field and tried it for 2 days.
New personal best: 109m! And it also feels like there's less thinking about nose angles, less thinking about where to aim my reach back etc.
      It just feels BETTER!
I haven't been this excited for disc golf in a LONG time!
Thank you, both of you, for your videos!

This is something I’ve been working on lately, so it’s awesome to see you suggesting this. I’ve noticed I have a tendency to turn my hips away from the target, so I’ve been trying to keep them in-line in order to create the proper coiling tension between my hips and shoulders. When I do it right, my shots fly much closer to my intended line…and when I don’t, then I shank it. Thanks for sharing and giving me a little confidence boost that I’m actually diagnosing issues in my shots and taking the right steps to improve!!

Another great form video Leon!. The core center point to follow a straight line to the target is a super form check. Having someone seeing if you are doing this is important. Making a video of yourself throwing will always be of great help to spot form mistakes. Thanks for keeping things simple as we all are trying to get better and stay disc golfing correctly. The best players in the game are excellent teachers, and you are surely proving that to us viewers of your channel. I hope you will make some videos on getting new players into how to learn the game slowly and properly, staying away from bad habits. I believe that using lightweight and under stable is critical and learning to throw anhyzer shots(the glide and turn numbers on the disc are good for choosing a disc) and to throw rollers. As you know, putting should be the first shot to feel good about and we all await your putting lessons.. It all comes down to practice, practice and more practice. More and more people are discovering your lessons and tips to play well, and I tell many struggling disc golfers to watch your channel. We all want to see you on the Disc Golf Pro Tour and compete with the best players in the world. Look out Simon Lizotte, Leon Sonnleitner will be a future Simon for sure!☺Happy Holidays to you and your family and God Bless You for these lessons!☺Moast Sincerely, Bill M., Uncasville, CT, PDGA 7378, lifelong promoter of the game we love, and to see it grow and grow!

I’ve been studying this exact thought with Paul McBeth and trying to prevent early rotation. I noticed he was keeping his eye on target much longer than I had been or was able to keep his eye on the target for longer. But either way his hips and his eyes both aiming at the target, and it to me it highlighted the timing of the reachback and the alignment of the hips.

    • @LeonSonnleitner

I am prone to this exact problem. I appreciate you pointing out that it can come from "trying to be too smooth." The average player can fall into the trap of thinking we are being 'smooth and relaxed' when really we are being unathletic.
It may be obvious to skilled athletes, but it is good to remind mortal players that even short shots require commitment, and that words like 'effortless' are not to be taken too literally.

if i lose my forms feeling what ill do is i start off like im throwing a mid range with no disc in my hand that helps me to find the feeling of my shot and i can hear the snap and feel the power.. then i just coil more at hips to throw it further but same arm movement as an upshot etc.

Im new to disc golf and have been watching alot of videos on form, but my 1 real big problem is i always tend to release the disc late and it always flys right, any thoughts on why this is? Even if i try to aim more left i still end up pulling it right.

    • @rneil1241
      @rneil1241 Před 8 měsíci

Great explanation, I think keeping the center of my hips on the line will really help me too! But please, no one ever make a disc golf video again without showing some throws. At least show one or two like Scott Stokely does, but if you want to go hard, the Disc Golf World or even Mint Blitz's videos are a great example of how to preach at the viewer while keeping engaging content on the screen.
