    Do you tilt your wrist down for a nose down (neutral) angle or do you not think about that at all?

    I've been trying to learn and my hips are the problem now. I see all these videos that go on and on and don't resonate at all, as in, how am I supposed to initiate the hips. Enough with the magical 'and then they just spin' nonsense. This instruction is what I've been looking for. Heading to the range tomorrow. Please work ... so tire of no hips. Will report back.

    How do you manage to not collapse the power-pocket when you do your style? Do you stop the rotation of the shoulders to let your elbow go through with your arm before you follow-through?

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner Před měsícem

      There is no possibility of "collapsing" when your footwork sets you up the right way and the Disc can follow it's Natural path in my opinion. If your alignment and Timing is right you can stay as loose as you want, it will Work. At least that is my way of looking at it, I'm Sure many people Would disagree.

    If you’re arm is completely loose and just follows your body how does your shoulder and arm not collapse inward towards your chest? Something need to be tense somewhere so that your upper arm and shoulder stay at a 90 and not collapse inwards while lagging behind your torso. How can I combat this without actively driving the elbow forward?

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner Před 9 dny

      the right shoulder is already on the right line once the rotation starts. If you have good footwork and make place for the disc to move, you will never collapse into your chest.

    I have been watching many form videos in the past but it was never explained in a way which my brain could grasp easily. My key information I got from you is that the arm stays loose and the pull of the arm is coming from my hip rotation instead of an active pull. I will try this today and think this is the key for an efficient form. Thx a lot. When can we expect a sidearm video 😍?

    Trying to implement this for the past 3 months I've just now realized that it's way easier when my front hip is out in front of me. So when I'm doing my x-step/reaching back I almost stick out my front hip. Then when I throw it's way easier to get my front hip back. I was watching your throw and I noticed how you did this (4:30), and its helped me a lot. Thoughts?

    Thank you for this lesson. I just did a "dry run" in my house. What a difference. Had no idea I was not creating any tension because my hips were with my shoulders pointing back. I'm in my early 50s, just over a year into DG. Forehand everything, but now have tendonitis in my throwing arm, so backhand it is! I'm throwing further, and cannot wait to try this on a course ASAP.

  • @jessholle
    @jessholle Před 4 měsíci

    I like the simple, focus of this video. There are so many videos on so many details that trying to focus on even a tiny bit of it leaves me a tensed up mess. On another front, though I see a lot of content suggesting the theoretical ideal for a throw is a 4 degree downward disc angle. How can that have lift? There's more to a disc than just the overall flight plane, i.e. it's not just a squat cylinder flying through the air. There's a parting line and shape above and below it to consider. I've not worked out the physics, but I assume someone did -- unless the 4 degree thing is just totally made up. I guess we'll find out as more and more people spend time with tech discs.

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner Před 9 dny

      I honestly don't really know either. From my understanding the disc only flies because the nose is up/as neutral as possible. I'm not sure where that -4 degree stuff is measured at though.

  • @intrinsic2941
    @intrinsic2941 Před 4 měsíci

    I know you focus quite a bit on just staying loose and using the body but I'm curious if you think there's any arm strength put into the throw at all and, if so, where/when? Do you think the arm should add any strength to push the disc out from the pocket at all for instance?

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner Před 9 dny

      any arm strength? yes, automatically, but only in the muscles that are needed. But actively pulling hard will not make anyone faster in my opinion.

  • @intrinsic2941
    @intrinsic2941 Před 4 měsíci

    Thanks for the video! Would be curious to get your thoughts on this: czcams.com/video/Slc2Q3aOqls/video.htmlsi=meo84bL1LlomyAoZ Do you think it contradicts your recommendation at all? If nothing else it seems to suggest the hip rotation should happen after the pocket rather than right when the plant goes down? I'm not trying to challenge you. Just trying to improve my understanding

  • @jimofalltrades

    I have actually been working these things out on my own this year in my first year of playing. But the hips against my shoulders was the missing piece. Can't wait for this snow to go away to get out the field for some work on this. Thank you so much for these videos. BEST CONTENT BY FAR!

    I love your x-step. I feel like so many new players misunderstand the purpose of the x-step and inevitably end up taking a huge step that turns their body backwards. You’re keeping things simple and controlled and the disc is coming out like a jet.

    Form looks so smooth! But during your slow-mo it looks like you are doing something with your throwing arm. In your Nose Down video you say you're not really doing anything with it. You're not pulling or anything, since your arm is connected to your shoulder. So how is your arm doing something, without you doing anything?

    • @LeonSonnleitner
      @LeonSonnleitner Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks a Lot! It might Look Like that, but I really don't pull actively at all, 0%. When you Fully extend the reachback you can stay loose. Once the torso rotates there will automatically Form some tension in the Arm because of the connected muscles. The Goal is Not to have Zero tension because that is Not possible. The Goal is to keep the ACTIVE tension as Low as possible in my opinion. Again, this only works with a full reachback. Otherwise If you stayed completely loose the Arm Just wouldnt move in the beginning of the Rotation. Hope this helps!
