I have one of these and use it with both my A7riv and A9ii. Your observations are very much correct. I have both the 70-200 fe GM with Sony and the 200-600 G but I bought this to have a light camera when I wanted to go for a walk when walking for exercise was the reason I was out, but wanted a camera with a bit of reach "just in case". I bought my 70-300 G used, but it was in excellent shape and it serves my purpose well. If you are familiar with the image quality of the 24-105 G this lens carries it forward to 300 mm albeit with much less low light capabilities. If you want a light lens to use outside between half hour after sunrise to a half hour before sunset this lens will do the job. If you are early or late then you will need something else.

@@karolkizlo1945 Hy. do you have the same opinion paired with the a1 for wildlife sports, and all around on a high megapixel camera using aps-c mode too? i need a small but oss lightweight zoom lens for sports wilflife and casual portrairs mybe, the only öother lens is the 70-350 but it's aps-c, i don't know how it owuld perform on an a1. what do you think? how it would handle 8k video?

@@k.o.t.o.n. do not buy apsc lens for FF camera. 70-300 should perform well. Overall i had sharp photos on 42mpx a7r3. So i guess it will manage 50mpx on a1. AF is quick on the lens, a1 has better af than my cameras so i think there should be no issues.

Did u test it in crop mode in the sony A7riii? That should give u 450mm with this lens, and with clear image zoom you can reach 600mm

I didn't this crop works more or less the same when i crop the image in post production from full resolution of 42mpx. Going this way you can get about 900mm on sony 200-600mm ;-)
