Wall of champions: I am most notorious f1 corner
Turn 16: hold my dragstrip😂😂
@@hampti007 They aren't funny though. You must be about 8 years old.
am i the only one who doesnt know why was it called a dragstrip? :D they are sticky, literally, and the run off are was slippy af
@@dominikmolnar2932 It's littereally the start of a Drag strip, Hockenheim holds drag races at their circuit and that drag strip goes all the way down to the hairpin. The start of the drag strip is very grippy in dry conditions, but once it gets wet it's like ice.
wow, that sounds good actually, a slippery drag race :D
Champion of Wall: 1 point
My GrandPrix weekend doesn't end untill I watch the WTF1 Podcast.
SAME
Hence raceweek!
Told my boss as well
#raceweek
Agree
I didn't get into Formula 1 for excitement. This has totally ruined my Sunday nap-time...
The safety car was the only Merc that kept it on track
Humpty hahahahahaha
wrong. the SC was once off with all 4 wheels over the white lines
I was laughing my ass off when that big heavy safety Merc was driving around haha! Mercs may be great cars but don't look good through corners. Like TopGear Jeremy in some fat AMG Merc sliding over the track.
Jess made a good point. Its better when its wet.
Oh common, really, as if i am the only one who giggled? Note to myself: grow up
Only u mate lmao
I made a "That's what she said joke" so....
Note to myself too: Grow up! Now! Fast!
lunt banzi you clearly saw 20+ more likes so clearly not just him
I immediately went to the comments section for this hahaha it just sounded very innocent when she said it, that's all. You're fine mate, don't "grow up"
me too :P
Love how when Vettel makes a mistake everyone piles in and says he needs to retire and when he does well it’s all luck and nothing to do with actually being a very good driver
Cuz hes not s very good driver
Hamilton fan?
@@jacobgarrity7504 nah he just isn't good, yes he was good back at red bull till ricciardo smashed him, and yes hes not terrible, but hes not a verstappen or Hamilton. Hes not put in enough amazing performances. Hes had the odd one or two but not enough to show its skill more just luck and his car
Extinguish He won with a Torro Rosso, Hamilton has never won in less than a championship level car.
Exactly. Not enough people are talking about the fact he made every single strategy call that race. And honestly every single one was spot on at the time
Come on Jess the Ham's penalty was 100% fair...FIA was clear about the bollard rules. If he didn't want to cut the pit lane entry, then he would have gone for a whole lap with a broken front wing losing more time. It was Hamilton's fault after all.
NCK Hamilton was lucky no other cars were coming along. I think he looked to the right to check that. But I am not sure.
He did the same thing last year too
bumdog Then he should have retired. It would have been more gracefull anyway
@bumdog Safety car was already deployed, nobody would have ever get hurt by them. Penalty totally fair, for sure he's lost less time by cutting pit lane corner and getting 10 seconds penalty + 1 minute stop, rather than completing a whole lap without the wing on slicks in the wet. Let's say that he's also been clever in getting that penalty
@@macmanleystudios561 They literally made that rule because he went back and forth at the same spot over the grass last year lol
Vettel had a great race. If you start 20th and finish 2nd, that's already a great result. It was not a stellar drive because he didn't shine until the last 10 laps or so, but I think it is unfair to say that his mistake-free race in such conditions wasn't great. It was more of a smart drive, rather than an all-in approach, which ended up being the right thing to do.
Also, I usually don't like to listen to anything Paul di Resta has to say about Vettel. He's always been salty about Vettel being more successful than he is (even though I agree with his reasons for that).
Please let this be the start of a dark horse Max title challenge. Can you imagine how epic the final races would get?
yeah that's not happening
@@thelarry383 We'll see my man, let's not forget that since the upgrade max has won twice and should have been 2nd in the other...
I actually think max could challenge for the title too. It all depends if red bull can keep up with Mercedes
It's a long shot, but possible. Let's say the 2007 season had the 2019 points system. At this point in the 2007 championship, Kimi was as far back to hamilton as max is to Hamilton this year. It would take alot of max good luck and Hamilton bad luck, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
Pretty sure Mercedes will win at least 6 of 10 remaining races...
"It's better when it's wet" can't argue with that
"Better when wet" - there's a three-word race review.
you win
Matt wanted to give Kubica a C xD Dude what could he do more. He didn't go off the track in an undrivable car and scored a point. What do you expect from him? To overtake a mid-field car?
It's sad we can't even call a William's a midfield car
YO MATTY! That's two fuckups in as many days when it comes to F1 coverage! Shape up!!!
Conclusion from Jess: It's better when it's wet, daddy Kvyat, and Gasly blew his shot. 😐
I'm a child I know.
aren't we all

Best races in f1 history
1. 2011 Canada
2. 2019 Germany
3. 2008 Brazil
Henry whatzal Lol not even close
I don't even remember 2015 Hungary
People have been saying that they don't get how some are being ecstatic about the German Grand Prix because they're are a "purist" when it comes to real racing and they want races to be like that in the dry. But the races you listed were all wet races so it proves wet races are much better but some fans are dissatisfied with that race somehow 😂 crazy!
2005 japan?
IS THAT GLOCK?!
They never got stuck in the elevator. it was a joke from Dany.
well I was counting and almost half of the field was on the elevator (couldn't see if a person behind ricciardo was a driver or someone else), so yeah pretty high chance of getting all the retirements
@@Corvoreviews apparently it was Checo Pérez behind him

Corvonix plays the one behind Ricciardo was Perez
@@bandithimself6841 exactly. It doesn't look like Stroll so my first guess was Checo lol
For me personally this was the best race ever! And that's definitely not because I stood at turn 16 ;))
It's okay to be biased pal! And I think there was some secret demon beast pulling cars out onto the 'ice rink' dragstrip. I'll call it a 'demon drag'.

People saying more races should be wet, I don't agree with that. Because then the teams and drivers would be used to it and races would be boring. This was the first proper wet race since Brazil 2016 and it was madness.

Jess said that lewis is untouchable after the summer break yet verstappen was almost equal on points in the 2nd half 2 years in a row

Forever grateful for this CZcams channel
Idk if someone noticed this, Lewis always says that he never give up....in this gp Lewis asked for retirement. I was like : POG.
Yeah surprised to hear this on the top 10 onboard video. Maybe he just didn't want to have a last place on his record?
@@carolinehaf21 could be, but he was very sick as it seems, so that's could be the reason too.
Yall have no idea how much I enjoy watching your channel guys! As a new F1 fan from the USA, you are doing a lot to to satisfy my thirst for F1-related content!
everyone keeps saying Hamilton knew slicks were wrong choice but he didn't say that. They suggested mediums and he said are you sure? and then they went with soft. obviously afterwards he could say "i think this was the wrong call" when he is slipping around on track but at the time of the pit, he didn't question slicks, he questioned medium vs soft due to working temps etc.
bumdog bullshit he is driver and feel the track
Yeah, everyone keeps giving him credit for that but he was fine with slicks. And it's not like every driver on slicks crashed, he made that mistake.
Ffs nico hulkenberg a really underrated driver one that does deserve to be in a top team but has to make it stick ffs. That's another chance missed out on a podium. Let's hope Mercedes have another bad race so things can be interesting. I think what made the race interesting was the track IMO. I don't think the weather was changing heavily, but parts of the track were dry until the last part of the track. That made it really interesting.
He's not underrated. If you can't hold the pressure of being high up in standings, you're not good enough. That's not just bad luck, the thing is in his head
ffs
Hulkenberg is under pressure from losing his seat it seems like
But I think Renault will keep him
I have to say... i like Hulkenberg, but IMO he is overrated.
I have got to say that the Hulk is not as good as a lot of people make him out to be.
Charles Lecrashed sorry :)
take my thumbs up and get out
Mad Charles !
Yeah ok, he is a pussy.
I've been watching since 2010, and even then i was a kid so dont remember that much
My top 5 is
1. Brazil 2012
2. Germany 2019
3. Canada 2011
4. Hungary 2015
5. Azerbaijan 2017
Honorable mention to USA 2018, but may be biased as i'm a kimi fan
Nice list
Imo mine is:
1) Canada 2011
2) Brazil 2012
3) Germany 2019
4) USA 2015
5) Baku 2018
Yeah that was great race - last time I had so many emotions was in COTA last year, but maybe it's because I'm huge KIMI fan.
Jess: “He’s blown his shot. Everywhere.” 😂
"Wow..." XD
26:07 I found it funny when Toto said the celebrations, fanfare, livery and outfits were a mistake and distraction. While it may have detracted from Mercedes usual laser focus, another team, Red Bull Racing, seems to be able to pull off the occasional special livery (James Bond 007 for British GP) or special race suits (Cowboy look for USGP), or sponsor a Grand Prix weekend (Austrian GP) without distracting or jinxing the hell out of themselves.
Everyone watching the race: WOW THIS IS AMAZING!
WTF1 fans watching the race: WOW I can't wait to see the next podcast!
Been waiting for this since the end of the race. Thanks guys you rock!
Just gonna say this, Stroll also spun, right at the time Lando had his DNF, you could see Stroll bin it at the same time at the same corner. Sainz and Stroll could both have gotten the podium after binning it before in the race. Mad race.
He went over Lando's oil though(so I wouldn't rate him down for that).
@@coast2coast00 yeah, probably that's why, I don't know, but he still spun, was in last place or close, and almost got a podium. Madness.

Hell yah! Waited for long time for this one. Wanted more than 2 hours of podcast tho.
I love this podcast. You guys really understand a lot about racing and the amount of stuff that you talk about is remarkable. Keep it up guys 💪❤️
It’s race week
Hamilton wanted softs not mediums. Mercedes have said they were arguing between mediums and softs not between inters and slicks. On their German GP review.
Hamilton wantend to give up bad loser
@@okidoki878 ya later in the race I was talking about the point in the podcast where they talked about what tire to go on. They assumed Hamilton wanted to go on inters not slicks but he actually wanted to be on softs instead of the mediums. Yes I know he really hated driving that low on the grid and wanted to give up.
Hamilton always complains about remotely controversial/difficult decisions in order to cover his own back if it goes wrong.
@Joe Maddison Save the engine? On a wet race when you cant even push it past mode 1?? For your information the AMG project one uses the 2017 Merc F1 engine which has a guaranted lifespan of 60k km in the lowest power mode. That is a whole 2-3 season's worth of free practices, qualy and races. No wonder Bono straight up denied him. Its not all linear in engineering as your high school knowledge makes you think... Basically, dont justify Hamiltons own driving faliures and concede-mentality with a made up "technical fact", which is straight up WRONG, to make yourself feel better. Hope your life isnt like that
@Joe Maddison Was reffering to the fact that he wanted to give up driving 10 laps of a wet race which would be driven only in lowest engine mode and that barely accounts of 0.1% of engines lifespan. But of course, your bias has blinded you that you cant possibly consider a viewpoint that doesnt match your ideology. And i dont believe you have a magistrate in engineering so spreading wrong concepts to the public is not a right thing to do. Ok, do whatever grinds your gears, if its hating and shittalking me for stating a fact which is true, that isnt gonna get you far in life. Cheers bud

Great podcast as always! Even if it was 5 hours long I'd still listen to every second😂 You guys should do a video with a race strategist so we can better understand how they look at the data and what the driver feedback is and how it all plays a part in them making the right (or wrong) call during a race.
First WTF1 podcast i'm sitting down for and i'm sure it's gonna be a good one. If Germany proved anything, rain dances the morning of a GP need to be a thing. Without the weather, Lewis would've just kept driving off into the distance.
But they said Lewis is the rain "master".🤣
@@hamzterix last 9 wet races 8 Lewis win just sayin
That racing point strategy call to put stroll on softs was the best gamble of the whole season like he was leading
I think Otmar came out and said that was 100% Lance's call to switch to softs
Canada 2011 !
I was there :D
Congrats for the awesome show!
It was a good race, but there have been other ones as good as (if not better) than that since Canada 2011:
Malaysia 2012 - wet race, Perez nearly winning for Sauber, Alonso winning in an awful Ferrari
Valencia 2012 - Alonso coming from P12 or somewhere crazy to win, Raikkonen and Schumacher on the podium
Abu Dhabi 2012 - Vettel coming from the back to finish on the podium, Kimi wanting to be left alone and winning, plenty of incidents and accidents
Brazil 2012 - hugely dramatic championship decider, Vettel spinning on first lap and fighting back
Silverstone 2013 - the one where everyone's tyres were literally blowing up
Bahrain 2014 - that legendary fight between Rosberg/Hamilton, lots of action elsewhere
Canada 2014 - Ricciardo's first win, both Mercedes having mechanical problems
Hungary 2014 - Ricciardo second win in wet conditions, Hamilton coming from last to finish of the podium, Alonso leading for a while in uncompetitive Ferrari, top three nose-to-tail in last few laps
Hungary 2015 - Another dramatic Hungary race, both Mercs having a nightmare, Kvyat and Ricciardo on the podium
Baku 2017 - Stroll got a podium and Ricciardo coming from 10th to win, Vettel hit Hamilton under SC...
I've probably missed some, but there's been lots of races that have been exciting since Canada 2011. Wrong to say Germany was most exciting in years.
It's not wrong when it's a opinion no opinion is objectively 'wrong'
I smiled when max was saying in a interview that the conditions were tricky and he couldn’t put one wheel a centimetre outside the racing line.... while he were using all the different racinglines in Brazil 2016. He has such a talent for “feeling” the conditions. Makes me think of an anecdote brundle was telling about Senna ;-)
2012 Brazil is also another race people tend to miss out, I remember rooting for Alonso and when Vettel got hit I thought he had the championship until he came back from behind.
I am usually not commentating anything on CZcams but - my god - do I enjoy your channel and your podcasts!!! Greetings from Germany ;-)
YES. Nearly an hour and a quarter of pure entertainment.
Just rewatched that moment being talked about @16:40 now... good catch!
Best race; Zandvoort 2020 :)
Btw; the safe from Leclerc was not a skill.... He took his right hand from the steering wheel because he panicked. A driver never lets go of his steering wheel ! He was incredible lucky.
Because if he holds the wheel during a crash he could have a broken wrist
I had to check the wiki page, but in Canada 2011: Button pitted 6 times (I thought it was more - not including stopping for the race suspension due to heavy rain), and he started 7th, not last. At about the halfway point he was last following a collision.
Seb kept his head down when he had to and then blasted through at just the right time
P1 was not possible for him unless max botched his race
This was seb's best race in more than an year
Really enjoying the series, wholesome content
Vettel's charge wasn't Verstappen's from Brazil 2016, but getting to p2 from p20... that's just amazing.
23:50 you‘re asking what super fast cars give us?
The answer is pretty easy: 1 stop races
The faster the cars are on track, the more time you loose in the pits, the more unlikely you will do more than the required amount
I would say Hockenheim was the best show this season, and Silverstone the best race
A random comment:
There are 3 categories in F1
1. Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull
2.Haas, Racing Point, Renault, Alfa, Toro Rosso, McLaren
3. Williams
They introduced a special rule for this years' Hockenheim race after the "ininininin" incident that says that cutting the bollard both ways would be result a penalty, and the reason they introduced this rule was exactly that incident, so it would be awkward if after that they don't apply the rule to the guy that was responsible that the rule was made in the first place :P
How about super wet Brazil 2016?? Don't care who won but Max passed 13 cars in 15 laps and became 3rd and the Brazilian crowd went nuts!
Hamilton was good up until he changed on to the wrong tyres, then he found out that he had no grip and even the great rainmaster can have an off day(think Schumi going into the back of Coulthard in Spa 1997 or Senna going off in Spain 1992).
Congratulations to Max. Just imagine what will happen in the future with this guy.
Also, good to see Vettel get a good result. Especially after all the negative talk about him recently.
Bottas though - oh dear.
Whoops - meant Spa 1998.
You guys and girl are getting funnier by the (race) week. Appreciate the content, knowledge and banter. Keep up the good work and thanks alot
I watched the race twice , once live and once on highlights , and i couldn't get my eyes of the tv even when i was watching full race highlights , it was that good.

2. Canada 2011

Bottas definitely blew up his chance to become a World Champion in that race.
You say B for Carlos Sainz because he spun. But so did Stroll and you give him A...
Everyone spun...And I was a bit sad/disappointed when she said Vettel B when he literally made his own strategy which just shows how bad it is in Ferrari. Ofcourse drivers talk with their engineers about tires and situation on track but what Ive heard when watching just him was him managing the whole race ffs..
39:56 best part of this Race review
6:25 "did anyone else think thought that the race went on forever?" Yeah no, not with channel 4 highlights. It was amazing just a shame because there is clear bits that we missed.

Thanks again folks! 👌🏼
i think they should permanently make the dragstrip wet, have sprinklers spray water all the time... I dunno, I feel like all run offs should be like that, not necessarily wet, just such that it's highly unlikely to come out of it unless you get lucky and you are a top notch driver.
Edit: I would just like to say that i posted this right at the start 5 mins into watching this, and they said the exact thing at the end...
Great video!

Spa 1998, best race I've ever seen
25:30 the most powerful Yikes that I've ever presence 👌😁
43:30 But Leclerc WAS an unsafe release. He DID hit Grosjean in the pits. PLUS: Grosjean had to do a full stop in order to prevent a full collision. Bottas was waiting for people to come past him in the pit mere seconds before Leclerc. I think drivers shouldn't be punished for this, but the FIA have to be consistent in their penalties.
I'm glad I'm not the only who saw it. Also, why isn't anyone mentioning that the team told him to watch for traffic as he was pulling out but he kept his foot on the throttle and his steering wheel hard left?
They should put sprinklers on the run-off areas at Austin!
Been watching since 2002 and this race, just the race itself as a stand-alone never mind the championship, is the best race I have yet seen.
