    I had to do 600+ cuts today and had to use my chop saw on three trestle tables, wooden blocks and use a weighted plastic crate as a stop guide for repeatable cuts. I’ve been putting off making chop saw station because I wasn’t sure how to integrate the backstop. Your solution is perfect! I’ll be adapting this for my setup next week!!
    Thanks!

    Been watching for years. Great to see you investing in tools, equipment, and infrastructure. You've always had good content and you're a natural at presenting it. Of course, having multiple professional skill sets helps lol.
    Hoping to see frequent vids to keep growing your channel. Looks like your serious about investing in a separate profit center in addition to the day job.
    Best of luck we're rooting for you.

      Thanks Bud! I've been saving a for the last couple years and have more equipment to setup, but I also have a new house haha so time to work in the shop is limited! I would love to do a video each week, we'll see how it goes! Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it.

    Very nice! I just got my saw last week. This design is exactly what I was contemplating. Perhaps you considered it, but I am going to try and transfer the holes over and make a one piece angle iron fence i/o welding the two together. KUDOS!!

    Brilliant build! With the pivot point in the place where the bolt is, does that mean you can set a backstop to a certain length then Change the angle and get the same size cut? I’m thinking of doing this, on the evolution saw I know there are 3 fences positions do you use the middle one?
    I love watching people create their ideas and tweak aspects of it, think of how much more convenient the saw set up is when done what a time saver 👍

    I like that idea, I have a older Evolution and my peev is mitering on these are a pain. Mine is now mounted on a Saunders fixture plate, which I have mixed feelings on. Could you do a review on your sander.I've had several and they're underpowered and slow for metal fabrication.Looks like a Grizzly? Wondered how you like it and would you buy again.

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety

      Mine are dead on! I have 2, the older one and this new one and the straight up and down motion is dead on. For angles i use an anglr finder but the stock 45° is really accurate. I can tig them up no problem

    Excellent! I'm going to be doing the same thing. I'm going to put my saw on a "lazy Susan" to spin it, and make it adjustable up and down as my work bench will have a wood miter saw on it too. I want them to all be level, but the metal saw has the lock piece that will get in the way so I have to lower it. I'm really eager to see the next video. Out of curiosity what gauge steel did you use?

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety +1

      That sounds awesome! It was mostly .065 and .095 whatever was lying around

    • @hipairbrush1053
      @hipairbrush1053 Před 3 lety

      I'm curious. You make an outstanding piece. You have the drum sander in your hand and you leave rust on one side of the piece of steel. Why not remove it and paint it?

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety

      @@hipairbrush1053 that piece took like 10 minutes for that side! Haha and it was mill scale so itll protect it from rusting

    Nice job bud, do you not use a bandsaw for cutting material? I also have a drop saw but want to get a bandsaw because it's not as loud and hopefully more precise for 45 etc...I been dipping alot of filler into my tungsten lately lolol🤦‍♂️

    • @5thStreetFab
      @5thStreetFab  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey dave! I did have a band saw but a chop saw, especially a metal blade chop saw, is way quicker! And just as precise if not more. But ya way louder! Haha dont worry! My day isnt complete if i havent sharpened my tungsten a dozen times haha
