    Best design for metal work saws I've seen on CZcams. There's a bunch but this seems to be the most practical and versatile so far. The side table supports are great and really like the adjustable rollers instead of permanent because I too have the abrasive bought first then the cold cut after. The bucket and funnel idea makes this even better in my opinion as well. Everything on rollers for a working shop is much better so you can take the tool to the work just sometimes a lot better too. 4.9 stars only because you didn't paint lol

      Thank you for the uplifting comment, I really like the design as well. This saw gets used a lot!

    Simple and effective, I particularly liked the lazy Susan addition. Other similar project videos don't include that. Needs a cup holder for those early morning cuts, if you know what I mean. Thanks from Colorado.

      Thanks and you’re right, a cup holder would make it better!

      It sure makes using the saw really nice. I was cutting rebar with it today.

    Put a variable speed controller and herculees cold cut blade on that dewalt and you'll have 2 cold cut chop saws. Labwork store on amazon $23.35 router fan variable speed controller box. Been running one on my saw for 2 years. Switch it to variable (not full) and dial it to medium(around 1800 rpm) and she'll cut just as good as your evolution. I have mine locked in for 45° cuts and the evolution does my straight cuts.

      Great idea, I use a similar controller on my portable band saw table, never thought about using one on my abrasive saw. Thanks for the comment!

    Dear Geoff, thanks for showing your cut-off saw table build. There are a few new ideas in yours that will come in handy when the time comes for me to build my own.
    I do have a question about your EVO saw. When you cut, engaging the blade is that part smooth or a bit rough? I have an exact same EVO saw and engaging the cut on mine gives coarse vibrations for a while until I’m deep into the cut. I can see my hand and lower arm shaking. Is that what your saw is like or do I have a faulty model?

      I haven’t had the issue you describe. I have replaced my blade a few times already, and I do try to let the blade spin up fully before starting the cut, but it seems very smooth - at least until the blade gets dull. Kinda sounds like a bad motor bearing???

      It was just the largest lazy Susan bearing I could find for a reasonable price on Amazon- I think I put a link in the description. If not hit me up again and I will get you one.

  • @thiagaservai
    @thiagaservai Před 2 lety +1

    Could you suggest a way to lock the lazy susan bearing? I assume the saw will rotate all the ways if you didn’t lock it and you will not get a straight cut.

    • @AllisonCustoms
      @AllisonCustoms  Před 2 lety +2

      To answer your question, I would add a plate under one corner of saw side of the lazy susan. Then drill a hole through both and use a spring loaded pin to lock it in place. However, because the vice is on the saw base, the angle of cut is established by the saw not the stand. The stand having a lazy susan really only provides for keeping the metal in one orientation and moving the saw VS having to swing a long piece of metal to swing around the area for different angled cuts.

    Now that you have had this for a while, is there anything you would change?

    • @AllisonCustoms
      @AllisonCustoms  Před 2 lety +1

      I should have made the "wings" a little shorter, the turning casters will hit them when moving it around with them folded down - I didn't plan that out very well, for me the fix is going to be adding some spacers between the casters and the frame.
      I would (will be) adding a long 25' plus cord to the saw or (probably my option) add a junction box to the cart with a long heavy duty cord that I can plug other stuff into as well. I store the saw over near my plasma table, but I move it all over the shop when cutting long pieces of steel, and I'm constantly hunting an extension cord.
